Beef cheeks and "hericot vert" aka French beans aka green beans. Those were my favorite of the two. The beef cheeks get extra extra points for being absolutely tender, but they were fried. Coupled with the cassoulet and there needed to be something to really cut through the fat and starch and protein flavors.
Cocktail list was good, and service was very pleasant. Enjoyed it, and plan on coming back next time I'm in town.
Service, I'm all about the service and the service at Bird was the best. Top notch. Yes, the food was very good. The menu was interesting. We were on vacation, we wanted to be pampered, to feel a little special. The staff a Bird did all of that. Friendly, without being too chummy. Efficient without rushing us. Great recitation of menu details, answering all of our picky questions. Thank you, Bird, for a lovely, relaxed, tasty dinner.
I enjoyed this restaurant in many ways. The ambiance is amazing, the staff is very attentive, and the food ranged from ok to great. The raw oysters, steak and stout pie, and blueberry cobbler with homemade ice cream were amazing! The steak tartar was not bad but could have used a little for acid. And the Caesar salad was missing anchovies and/or garlic that really gives Caesar dressing it's kick. But I'd definitely go back.
My rating and review is for brunch. This place has a great atmosphere with a cool patio for when the weather is nice. I've been here several times for brunch and I can't branch out on the menu because the Mother and Child Reunion (fried chicken breast, homestead grits, poached eggs, jalapeño gravy) is so good and a must eat!
Exceptional service, good food, trendy vibe, great spot... this place had just about everything we were looking for. We decided to try out this place for brunch. Parking in Sundance Square Parking Garage was free the day we were there, and according to.
Best brunch spot in Fort Worth. Huge servings, strong drinks and very friendly staff. If it's a Sunday make sure you get your name in early to sit outside. Also go with a friend so one can order the Mother and Child Reunion and the other can order the Badass Bacon Waffles
This is one of my favorite restaurants. If you like good craft cocktails then you must try bird cafe. The food is small plates which is great because you can try multiple things. Everything was delish!
I enjoyed the pleasant outdoor atmosphere and the view of Sundance Square. Nice selection of draft beers and wines. Entrees were served promptly by a friendly and knowledgeable wait staff. Smaller portions, but the idea is to order several selections and share. Overall I left de-stressed and relaxed due to the outdoor dining experience, and satisfied with the courses presented. I would return.
I've been to The Bird Cafe several times in the evening. This time my son was in town and wanted to go to a place with good wine and food. I fully expected to have a lunch menu with lunch prices. Risotto should not be $15 for lunch. We both had soup, an entree and a glass of wine. The bill ... Over $75. That is insane for lunch. The food is good, not sensational. Our waitress was attentive and pleasant.
Great old building with 1800 era stained glass. Food is good. Shrimp over polenta was fine - shrimp were large and a bit over cooked. Pig and fig - pork belly on mashed field peas with blue cheese crumbles and fig purée tasted far better than it looked. Brocolinni was too crunchy and skinless tomatoes tasted canned. A nice try and we'll eat there again. Good service, good location to Bass Performance hall.
Needs Some Work. Typically good food and service was lacking during the last visit on 1/24. Evening special and standard pot pie, were sold out, chose something else, later informed those could happen after all. The pot pie was good, but average with the Belgium Mussels meeting expectation. Drinks took forever. Love the Bird, will be back and hope for improvement.
Mostly good some meh. We ordered duck wings, rabbit pot pie, chorizo mussels, meat and cheese plate, bone marrow, shrimp and grits, pig n fig..those were the real good choices...the beef tartare was quite under seasoned..the 3 desserts were tasty. all in all a great meal.
Wonderful!. Very nice experience! Great place to people watch in Sundance Square. The food was excellent and decently priced. I had a lamb gyro and my wife had the one-eyed jack. Both were very well prepared and presented. Our waitress was very friendly and helpful. We will be back!
Instant favorite. Great job retaining the ambience of this historic building. We were seated upstairs.
Wooden floors, stain glass windows, exposed brick walls, artwork, gave an old-world feel - but the menu is anything but.
The cocktails - Fitzgerald and a Sazerac - were made with fine ingredients, like we'd make at home.
Beet salad was fresh and crisp, Belgian mussels were so good that we used the French bread to soak up extra sauce. Ahi tuna skewers were seared just right with lots of flavor and a little kick from the jalapeños. Fried avocados - off menu - with chipotle sauce was executed flawlessly. Outside crisp and flavorful, while the avocado inside the shell retained it consistency.
Add friendly, unhurried service and it's an instant favorite!
We had the hummus, a beet and Cobb salad and the spiced pear cake. All the food was great! Saw lots of other plates we want to try. Staff was great and helpful. We will be back. Very cool decor.

Their service is never the best (been about 10-15 times now and waiters and management definitely need improvement, story below) but their views are great, food is tasty (get the Belgium mussels and Bone Marrow!!😋), and drinks are perfection. I go again and again specifically for the scene and tasty cocktails.
This last time there was a mixup with the waiters, so while one waiter greeted us another waiter was supposed to handle the table. They got confused and neither one of them waited on us. It was about 25 minutes in when we finally reached out to the hostess to inquire about our waiter. She happened to be walking by, the manager (male, at that time we didnt know he was a manager) told us to wait so they could merge a table together for a party coming in later. When they finally turned around they figured out what happened, fixed it, but no one even apologize...bird cafe never apologizes for mistakes that ive experienced. Needless to say, their bartenders are worth the visits ;)
Beautiful restaurant and attentive staff. Although this is a large restaurant, the designers broke up the spaces into more intimate dinning settings. I have included some pictures to show off the different spaces.
The menu is all farm to table and features a good selection of meat, poultry and fish. There is even a delicious all vegetable entree for Vegan and Vegetarian dinners.
There is a small balcony space with a comfortable couch and fire pit that over looks Sundance Square for the romantics and those who what a small group celebration.
I would recommend reservations on the weekends. The restaurant can accommodate small and large groups. Families with older children would feel comfortable, but I would not recommend this restaurant for young children.
Amazing food, service, & comfort! Homer is a great asset of a waiter, more of a staple of this place. He was very knowledgeable of the historical information behind the business and a wealth of knowledge regarding the menu.
Still talking about our unique meals and how wonderful the flavor was. True homecoming, made with lots of love and great presentation, with an upscale flare. They have gluten free options that are filling. Country breakfast, avocado omelet, adding avocado slices, bread pudding, and Henry's creamy caramel icecream was to die for! We had a fantastic time!
Fantastic restaurant right on Sundance Square in downtown Ft Worth. We had Sunday brunch there and it was delicious. Service was great and the facility is an awesome historic restoration of a Victorian style commercial building. It is preferred to make reservations, you will get much better seating.
Nice Saturday night out. Vibrant area on weekends, nice plaza for walk in good weather. Sat at bar for great drinks before reservation. Shared steak tartare, deviled eggs pickled in tumeric, rabbit pot pie, and a nice chess pie dessert. Great downtown spot.
Summary (4/5): Good food for a fair price with a nice interior, but service is a tad slow.
Bird cafe's interior is reminiscent of an 80's restaurant that has been modernized. There is plenty of seating both outside and inside, and its location right inside Sundance plaza is fantastic.
On average, the appetizers and salads are in the 12-$15 range and the main menu can be in the mid 20's depending on what you're ordering. I was a bit disappointed by the somewhat limited selection of choices for the main course, but that isn't a big deal to me if the taste is up to par.
Thankfully, the food was solid, especially my barracuda filet. The salads were also good and nothing really disappointed the palate.
The service, however, was questionable. Despite a relatively vacant restaurant service was somewhat slow, both in waiting for the food and for additional services. For example, our table wanted some bread to go with the salad (which I assumed was common), but I had to remind our waiter about it twice. There was an additional wait due to the bread needing to be heated up, but I wish there was some notification as to the reason behind the delay. Perhaps I'm being too picky, but considering the price and decor and the lack of patrons, I would've expected service to be a bit more attentive.
Interesting menu, but not weird! Gorgeous old building. Comfortable chairs! Excellent service (thank you Katie)! I had the pastrami sandwich, it had buttered cabbage instead of sauerkraut like a Rueben, very delicious. The fries were very good (I normally do not care for fries). A nice stop in Fort Worth downtown. A BEAUTIFUL DOWNTOWN!
Met a friend for Sunday brunch at the Bird Cafe. Now, I've eaten at the restaurant several times in the past but never for their weekend brunch. Started off with a good cup of coffee from a French Press. Instead of a mimosa, my friend decided to begin her brunch with a concoction called an urban conqueror. It looks similar to a cosmopolitan. According to my friend it was quite delicious. I ordered the Avocado Omelet with crispy potatoes, an english muffin and bacon. My brunch partner decided to order two poached eggs with crispy potatoes, an english muffin and bacon. The food was scrumptious, delicious. Our server was friendly, attentive and helpful. The atmosphere and ambiance of the Bird Cafe is relaxing and it's in a great location. This restaurant has good food, service and atmosphere and most definitely worth a visit.
We went for Valentine’s Day brunch, the atmosphere, food, and drinks were great. The historic architecture and rooftop area were added bonuses.

Excellent and eclectic. The food here is always amazing. The country skillet breakfast is her new favorite
Duck and Dumplings were good, shrimp and Grits were ok. Oysters were ok. Service was good. Food was from Good to ok. I hear the brunch is pretty Good.
Delicious brunch and mimosas. Excellent service and also has a nice outdoor patio depending on the weather you might want to check it out.

It’s the best salad I have since long time! It’s spicy! “Succotash N Greens G Salad” However I just walked in and the hosstes o the two girls didnt give me a table or nothing, kind of rude but the bartender Megan is great and looks like he make awesome drinks! Just for the attention at the door I will give 4 stars.
Matt, using house made orange liqueur and the cherry liqueur pictured in the bottle on the right, made an amazing craft Old fashioned! Excellent bartender. Flamed/singed an orange peel for me too.
Loved the vast patio. Many items on the menu to choose from, but nothing vegan (on Sunday brunch menu... Didn't look at regular menu). Not that I'm one, but if it's ur thing then ur just getting drinks.
I really enjoyed brunch reminiscing about all the beer I drank here when it was the Flying Saucer. Grilled cheese sandwich was good. Cream of asparagus soup was quite delicious. Very convenient location considering I was early for a performance at Bass Hall.
Bird has a unique menu served by friendly, but not too intrusive staff.
Any dish with their jalapeno gravy will be tasty, but not overpowering. We don't imbibe alcohol much but they offer an array of non-alcoholic drinks as well as a range of wines which should impress casual drinkers as well as coniseurs.
We've enjoyed the patio, for people watching on Sundance Square. We also like the cozy upstairs, surrounded by bird art and historic downtown photos. There's also a firepit upstairs for mingling.
You need to try their rabbit pot pie and pecan/white chocolate bread pudding. You'll be back for more!
It was a perfect evening! Dinner on a heated patio, delicious food, excellent service, and a view of Sundance Square decorated for the season. Does it get any better than that?
