Reviews Ol' South Pancake House

Ol' South is just the best. It's a staple here in Fort Worth and its king when it comes to down-home country cooking. I love that I can get breakfast food 'round the clock, and the staff is always friendly and attentive. Their biscuits are so good, fluffy and big, and their pancakes are divine. You can add so many different flavors to spice them up. One order of them can feed me for many meals. If you're feeling adventurous, the Dutch pancakes are out of this world, and you won't find anything like it around. The wait on the weekend is a little extreme in the mornings, but it's always worth it!

Everything was delicious! Our server Omar was super great! He made recommendations for the skillet toppings (amazing!) and gave us great ideas about what to do in the area. This is definitely a place to come whenever you want something delicious. Also the tater kegs are ridiculously yummy.

Post visit to the zoo. We were both tired and hungry. Waiter was efficient, it's a nice place to eat for sure. Food is good and filling. Neat to find a 24 hour establishment these days. Overall I'd recommend eating here to relax and enjoy good food.

Service today was good and the main courses were delicious. The Lemon German pancake is still my favorite of the fruit flavors but the blueberry was fun to try. The sides of ham and bacon were really unremarkable and we would have done better to save the money and stick with the main meal only. We learned a bit of local history when we sat in Van Cliburn’s booth today and that was really neat.

This place was much better this time around. I got the chicken and waffle. The chicken was tasty. The waffle was great. Bacon is always good. The eggs were done well. Our waitress was there any time our coffee was low. She was polite and friendly. The place was packed out but we didn't have to wait long for anything.

Historical Fort Worth landmark restaurant, must visit when coming through here. Open 24/7, most friendly bunch through and through. The food is uniquely special at this place. German pancake is the most famous dish- and Dutch babies.

Never had this kind of pancake with eggs and lime and sweet. A must visit place if you are in Fort Worth. Supposed to be German.

Place was super busy but they managed to get us seated immediately. I went with the chicken and waffles. Was pretty good especially for the price. Wife had eggs and French toast which the eggs were cold and she didn't really like them. The pancakes were good though. Ultimately, I'd come back again. Better than waffle house but not as good as a breadwinner. (Much more affordable though)

Our server, Tracy (?Tracie?) was amazing, was so positive, and attentive, asked us how we wanted foods cooked, and I have loved how they don't fuss about me having my service dog with me. Honestly, not being fussed at, about why I have a dog with me, is best start to an amazing meal.

First off I’d like to say the food was great and I was so thankful this place stays open since it was perfect for an after concert meal, I will definitely come back when I’m in town again. From the moment we sat down however, our server just made it very obvious she did not want to be there. Maybe we caught her on a bad night. Barely spoke to us, and was nowhere on the floor until our food was ready. We were in a small booth next to the kitchen and I also happened to catch her telling the hostess that “just because my section is open, doesn’t mean I want to be seated right now.” I felt bad for the hostess, as someone who worked in and trained other staff at restaurants for years, I know that girl was just doing her job the way she should be. After we got our food, we were not even halfway through when our server came back and dropped two separate checks and let us know that we can pay in front and have a nice night. We never asked for separate checks and again, we weren’t even halfway through and we hadn’t been eating for more than a few minutes. We ended up finishing and going to pay up front, the lady in front who checked us out was so sweet so we just hope the server might have had an off night and it gets better.

Great Fort Worth staple that everyone needs to try. Anything you get is good but I like the skillets the most. It’s has the best bang for your buck with everything in one dish that’ll definitely fill you up

This place was excellent all the way around, service was great, the food was amazing, I tried the German pancake and would get it again. It has an old classic country type theme going on. Obviously very old, but in a good way. It’s also open 24/7.
