Hogan's sandwich shop has been around since I was in high school. Hogan's is a hole in the wall- literally. The tiny bar is always full of patrons who seem to be part of the furniture.
That sounds terrible, but the sandwiches are crazy delicious. They are GIGANTIC and made fresh with the best cold cuts. The bread is soft and fresh. Get your sandwich to go, but get one. They don't take credit cards so bring cash. You don't need to bring much because everything is so reasonably priced.
Fun employees with very good service. They even wrapped up the second half of my sandwich as if take out after eating in. Very tasty food with very nice large portions. The vibe is a great hole-in-the-wall type place. Darts are available in the back.
Best deli sandwich place in Gainesville - Bring cash. Over the years many sandwich places have come and gone, but Hogan's is still here, and still providing consistently good sandwiches at reasonable prices. Italian sub and reuben are stand-out items.
I love Hogan's. They are really cheap, yet still delicious. For my boyfriend and I to eat two 8" subs and two sweet teas our total was $14. A friend recommended Hogan's to us and I definitely recommended it to you.
This BEATS a Publix sub and that is almost impossible in my opinion. The subs are fresh and absolutely amazing!
Amazing Food, friendly staff.. Doesn't take credit cards, but they do have an Atm in the restraunt.

This place is the bomb dot com. Always consistent and delicious. The owners are helpful and very nice. Sandwiches are huge and cheap. I drive by three chain sub sandwich restaurants to get here, glad I do every time.
Consistently excellent. I have frequented Hogan's since opening in the early '80s. The beer selection is excellent and cold, the sandwiches superbly made, and the company friendly and eclectic- a pleasant place to waste a bit of time.
Great subs and cold beer. This place is a landmark for a reason.

As big as your head. The subs here have not changed. I still love this place for the cold beer and tasty subs. I use to frequent the location at Newberry Square back when they has pool tables. I miss that place. I still drop by every once in a while when heading thru town. Memories.
Haven't been here since COVID. Still a great place. Best sandwich I ever had in the US. Cuban and tuna salad are both good options.
Good price and portion. 12+6 inches (total $16 ish) are more than enough for 4 people, so my girlfriend and I had to refrigerate the half that we can't finish in one meal.
I was not familiar with the menu and ordering, so it took me quite some time to decide and order what I wanted, but the staff was patient and friendly.
Yuengling beer was good.
Hogan's is a total dive...with great food. There's a nice variety of options and they are always generous with the meats. The prices are very reasonable given how much you get, and I've always been happy with the quality of the meat and toppings. Very satisfying subs.
The local dive bar atmosphere might make the place feel a little less than inviting, but don't let that stop you -- the food is worth it.
Be aware that they only take cash, but there is an ATM in the restaurant near the register so cash is easy enough to get if you need it.
Some of the best deli meat sandwiches you'll get in Gainesville. Their cuban is also pretty good! Very generous portions, quality deli meat, low prices. I'm not the biggest fan of cold sandwiches, but I'd come back to try more. Staff were friendly and efficient too.
First time trying Hogan's, will definitely be back! Ordered a #12 upon recommendation, and I was not disappointed. More than I could eat in one sitting, and it was only $8 to boot!
Delicious sandwiches! Will definitely be back. Prices are great and staff is super friendly. They are cash only, though, and the ATM is iffy. Love the food though, definitely a local favorite. I’ll be coming again to try their other sandwiches! I’ve heard great things about many of their sandwiches, can’t go wrong with any of them.

Great local sandwich shop with the perfect location of being right next to the University's campus with it's mixture of buildings and amenities, as well as SEVERAL different off-campus housing apartment/condo neighborhoods that range from your standard 2 or 3 bedroom apartments to a more high-end style type of condo's. Now with a menu boasting around 15 - 20 different type of sandwiches to choose from and a beer license, you couldn't ask for a more ideal demographic of people for place with great tasting sandwiches that are affordable if you tried. Although the summer months may be a little thin for Hogan's profits, that lovely piece of paperwork giving them the ability to add a handful of different kinds of cold beer to their beverage menu with a densely packed population young men & women in their 20's for the rest of the year and you won't need a degree to figure out that Hogan's great tasting sandwiches and cold beer will be there for you to enjoy many more times because this place doesn't look like it's gonna be closing it's doors for several years or even decades into the foreseeable future
