Reviews The Melting Pot

My big Valentine's Day surprise was a trip to The Melting Pot, a restaurant I've wanted to go to since high school, and it was the best restaurant date I've ever been on. It's definitely more than a meal, it's an experience. The staff was so incredibly friendly. Our drinks were on the house, I guess they did this because my boyfriend and I had expressed how excited we were to be there for the first time. My boyfriend said we could go all out and get extra desserts and anything I wanted, so I opted for the four course meal. I got the vegetarian entree and it was so much food, I was more than satisfied, which is something I worry about when going out to eat. I don't remember the bartender's name, but he had a great personality and made my boyfriend an extremely delicious cocktail before we got to our table. Our server was Zach and he was absolutely wonderful, and very informative and helpful since we had never been to a fondue restaurant before. Also, the atmosphere was like no other restaurant. The booth was so cozy and intimate, and I loved that it gave me the opportunity to cuddle up next to my boyfriend. The additional dessert plate we ordered had a red velvet cheesecake on it that shames every other cheesecake known to man. Like no joke, hands down, even after all the food we already ate, my boyfriend and I just had to finish that cheesecake. It was the best cheesecake I've ever had.

Food was excellent, waiter was very personable. Occasionally a little slow (even for a fondue meal) but our waiter seemed stretched a little thin and was hustling to remain as timely as possible. All in all, a great experience and we'll be back!

Came here for a date night with a lady friend. We've both been here before but it had been a long time. I called ahead and made reservations. It was raining really hard but we managed to make it in time. The host was really nice and greeted us as soon as we walked in and gave the reservation name. We had a 5 minute wait, then we were seated. Our sever was very nice and attentive, checking in on us from time to time. She also give us her personal recommendations at my request. Once we were seated we both ordered drinks and they were tasty and a bit strong. So we liked that. We really enjoyed our "Big Night Out" selection. It was a successful date night and the ambiance of the lights and high walls gives you enough privacy to enjoy yourself but enough atmospheric noise to feel homey. Thursdays is officially date night with rose petals if you want a little razzle dazzle 💥 hope this was helpful for someone! 👋🏾 We ended the night with the Flaming Turtle fondue and it was great, very yummy indeed.

What a great place to spend our anniversary! The food was amazing and it was a fun experience. We also really appreciated our server, Anthony. He was super helpful and attentive. He really was the star of the evening! The manager was also fabulous. He came through to check in on each table and was sure to ask if there was anything they could do to make the experience better - but it doesn’t get better than melty cheese, flaming chocolate, and a great server!

Y’all, just come! This place is so good! My husband visited years ago, and recommended it for dinner. I 100% concur!!! This food was so good! I haven’t had fondue in years, and this was the perfect restaurant to reintroduce it. We had the 4-cheese fondue (sorry I don’t remember the name, but it’s 4 Italian cheeses, garlic, white wine, and it’s heaven! We also tried their dessert chocolate fondue which did not disappoint! I will say you must have patience as I believe this restaurant has many new people, you will wait a bit, but I promise it’s worth it! We are definitely returning soon! I loved everything about this place! From the very friendly and accommodating receptionist in the front (he was a young, Caucasian male - sorry, I don’t remember his name). He was all over the place helping and getting people in and out - much appreciated! Our waitress (this was a few weeks ago, I’m sorry, I don’t remember her name either) was also amazing! Very friendly, and took good care of us. Please come here, you won’t be disappointed!

We come here about a couple of times every year, food here never disappoint. We usually do the big night out which includes everything from 🧀 cheese fondue, salad 🥗, main course (broth option) to dessert chocolate 🍫🫕 fondue. We always order the add on lobster 🦞 and there's plenty of food to fill you up and you can get extra veggies such as potatoes, mushroom 🍄 and broccoli 🥦.

Great date night! Never done fondue before, but the server was patient and attentive! Place could probably use more ventilation for smoke capture, but smoke was not gathering. Very much enjoyed! Price is good for a special night, but not necessarily for normal dates.

A great experience. The staff were kind, attentive, and seemed to enjoy what they do. The food was beyond any expectations. The classic flight of wines was superb and a perfect pairing with each course. I loved the house salad more than the Caesar. They have specials pretty often making this completely affordable, for the once in a while visit.

We had such a nice time for dinner (Thursdate 4 courses) here! Big thanks to Maysarah, our waitress, for helping us have a great experience! It was our first time dining here, so she went through all details and what to expect from the meal, she was really attentive, taking our allergies and covid 19 safety measurements seriously 🙏 So for Thursdate, we'd have 4 courses: • Appetizer: we chose Fiesta cheese fondue and it was incredibly delish - definitely come back to try more cheese options! (1 cheese fondue shared) • Salad: their Signature melting pot salad was so fresh and tasty as well! (We each had 1 big plate of salad) • Entre: we chose Cog Au Vin (burgendy wine broth) and had Big Night Out option for Thursdate (you can go Bigger Night Out but I think it's too much for 2 people, so grateful that Maysarah our waitress, was honest and told us it might be too much if we went with Bigger option) and it was so much food for Entre we had to take some break before Dessert😆 The entre meats were very well chosen and seasoned • Dessert: we went with Yin&Yang Chocolate - definitely worth it! And I must say their Yin&Yang Martini is a must try! The bartender tonight made a tasty drink AND the presentation is so on point👏 We had such a lovely time here and will definitely come back for more trying! The staffs today deserve so much raises and shout outs for their work!

I hadn't been to this restaurant in decades. So it was like a rediscovery for me. My sponsor couldn't eat much at all. So it seemed like a lot of food to me. To me, it seemed like an over indulgence. Two or three ( not so hungry people) could share the single person experience. The house salad was salty. You may want to have the dressing on the side.

Sept 2021 More of a 3.5 stars. Very interesting experience, good food, decent service, and very expensive. Reservations are recommended, and plan to be there for at least 2.5 hours. All the staff wear masks. The place is clean, dimly lit, and has many 2 people booths in addition to tables. It seems that 1 fondue pot is for 2 people. Each person gets 2 skewers, and they give each person different colored skewers. We were seated at a 2 person booth. I am a little iffy on the placement of the pot, which is by the far corner opposite the booth seats. On the one hand, all the food is spread out between us and the pot. Plus the servers cook the cheese fondue at the table, so they have easy access to the pot. On the other hand, you have to stretch to put things in or take them out. And if you have to go searching for something, you have to stand up to see into the pot. The service was rocky at first, but managed to improve a bit. We arrived a few minutes before our reservation and were promptly seated. We then waited 15 minutes before our server arrived. About 5 minutes in, someone came by to give us water and said our server would be along soon. When our server did arrive, he apologized for the wait and was very friendly and earnest. I did get the vibe that he was new and trying too hard to impress, but I give him points for trying. I do think he could have checked on us more often, as he mainly delivered each course and came back after we were done with each. This led to a few minutes of waiting between each course. We had the 4-course dinners for 2: cheese, salad, entree, and dessert. The cheese fondue is cooked at the table. Note all the cheese fondues have some kind of alcohol as a base, which is boiled out. The cheese course comes an assortment of breads, veggies, and freshly chopped apple. Very yummy. The salads were good, with fresh and crisp greens. Also, I highly recommend the Bee's Tea (non-alcoholic). It was very good: sweet, citrusy, and with a nice lavender taste that you feel in your nose. Very refreshing. The pots for the entree and dessert course come ready made from the kitchen. With the entree comes six side sauces, and not necessarily those listed on the little table menu. Our favorites were the Green Goddess and the Yogurt Curry. You also get special plates for the entrees, with four little depressions to the side for the sauces. I personally found it easier to just spoon the sauces directly onto my food, but I admit that's not very sophisticated 😜. The food with the entrees was decent, nothing amazing. Sadly, there were no potstickers that night, and we didn't learn that until after the plates were delivered to the table. According to our server, it's a not uncertain whether potstickers are available at any given day since they're popular and tend to go quickly. Also note that even though there's not a lot of food delivered, it is still very filling! A note on the cooking times. The server does tell you the cooking times for each type of food. If you forget, the times are listed on the little table menu. Also, there is a cooking timer on the website. From the menu, hit "The Experience". At the very bottom is a "Use Fondue Timer" button, which will open a new window. There are timers for chicken, beef, pork, fish/shrimp, veggies, and pasta. After the entree, everything except the skewers and napkins are cleared from the table. Finally, it's the dessert course! The chocolate fondue is already made and just needs a few minutes to heat up. I believe the flambeed fondues are lit at the table, but I'm just guessing. It comes with an assortment of sweets and fruit. Note the server will ask if you want a second helping of any of the dessert items. I would go back just for the chocolate fondue. Though I would order it to go so I can use up all the fondue with more goodies than they provided us 😋. This is definitely more an experience place than a food place. The food was good, but I feel like coming here is more for the experience of fondue than anything else. Especially when considering the prices.

First time to melting pot with friends. Interesting experience. Each of us ordered four courses. We had one pot malfunction and the manager had to change the pot for us. I had to leave earlier so my friends sent last course “chocolate “ pictures to me. It is so beautiful.

We went to the melting pot late January to celebrate a belated Christmas dinner with family. For three of us this was the first time we returned in over 10 years. One member of the group never went here but enjoyed the experience. It's very expensive if you do the three course meal for each person. If I go again I would just do the cheese appetizer and dessert. Great place to come with family and friends. They made sure we were seated in a well lit area.

The 4 course "Big Night Out" option was the perfect couple's selection. Starting with breads and veggies platter for dipping in blended cheeses, to fresh salads, followed by the main course consisting of steak, chicken, salmon, raviolis, and shrimps all cooked to your taste in a burgundy wine vegetable broth. By the time you get to the chocolate, you think you can't possibly eat any more, but then they bring it out and you really can't possibly not eat it. Each course could almost be a meal in itself. Be prepared to spend 2 hours taking in the whole experience.

Strange experience with the host team and donating to a charity, but otherwise a good experience. Love the sauces and veggies in particular, especially green goddess and teriyaki on everything. Will be back!

A definitely must go if you live near by or even near Bethesda or Germantown. One of the best hot pots I have had in a long while! Do try they Fiesta and the chocolate fondue - yin & Yang. They make it in front of you and have great options for breads and drippings. The staff is very friendly and fun. A must try fondue place in the town !

This was such a great experience. The gentleman serving us had been working here for 17 years and it shows! He was excellent. Food was awesome and very filling. The rest of staff were also very lovely to us.
