Batik is located at the corner edge of its building and features limited indoor and outdoor seating. This produces a feeling of exclusivity. Indoor decor is cohesive if a bit cheap. Food was great. Very unique Thai flavors - I tried their spiciest curry (Green with chicken) and a spicy rice. Perfect heat that enhances the flavors. Be warned, it might be too hot for some as it was for my party. The dumplings are great too - go for the fried ones. There is an extra texture (crunch) and flavor not imparted to the standard ones. Also tried their sweet green tea and hot coffee. Be warned that the tea is exhausting in its sweetness. The coffee came as a French press with instructions given on how to use it. A fun experience and absolutely excellent coffee. To be clear this is not featured on the menu as far as I could tell. Overall, a great experience. Fast service. Nice menu options. Fair prices. Give Batik a chance. Edit: I do wish more sauce was served with the dumplings!

I wanted to eat something that was both soothing and novel - so I thought, try a new Asian restaurant, maybe soup or appetizers. I super duper enjoyed this! Batik advertises itself as specializing in dumplings. I rarely buy dumplings, so I was a little unsure. Then I saw they ALSO have a dumpling soup! Just what my stress levels ordered. I got the chicken/shrimp/cilantro dumplings in the soup. It came out in an adorable cast iron pot (see Pic!). I was glad I got the soup. The dumplings were yummy, but I felt they were loads better when I soaked them in the broth before each bite! The soup itself was pretty mild. Probably underpriced for most Americans, but I liked that it was gentle on the stomach. It was absolutely chock full of Cabbage, carrot slivers, and noodles. No idea what type. Yummy. I couldn't finish my portion, but it was very satisfying! A couple reviews here mention the wait time/server. He was very nice, a little slow to take my order, but the food came out shockingly fast, and he was fine in all other respects. Lovely area, too. Plan to return for lunch!

My wife and I have been to Batik a few times and it is absolutely delicious. Every dumpling option is exquisite and there is plenty from which to choose. The curry is also fantastic, and the owner has selected some fantastic wines. You will not be disappointed, and you will turn into repeat diners. Enjoy!

This was my first time legitimately trying Thai food. I really liked it! The pad Thai and dumplings are great, and well presented. The the lunch special includes a crab Rangoon which was also really good. Nice cozy ambience too. The only thing holding this place back from a 5 Star, in my opinion, is that the service was a bit slow. It makes sense because there was only one waitress, but that problem could be fixed.

I really like this place. Glad they are in the neighborhood. I love their lunch boxes. It's awesome they have them on the weekend. The pineapple fried rice is real tasty as is the hot n sour soup. The green curry is also really good if you are up for spice.

This is my favorite restaurant in the Kentlands - and probably in Montgomery County. Their Pad Thai is delightful and the owners and staff are always friendly and welcoming. The dinning area is intimate and the takeout orders are always ready promptly. The menu has a variety to choose from; which goes over well with my vegetarian and gluten-free friends. Highly recommended.

Definitely a hidden gem - our favorite in the area, by far. Cozy atmosphere, excellent cuisine, reasonable prices. Some of our favorites include the red vegetable curry with toft, firecracker shrimp, and wasabi blue dumplings. All dishes are created with fresh ingredients and have excellent seasonings and flair. Love this place!

Love it! Good, fresh food with flavors that are so good you won't want to brush your teeth for awhile. Service is good, too...friendly staff. Update...still enjoying every morsel when I can...I wish they delivered to Olney! My friend loves the Basil Chicken and the Firecracker Shrimp, and I love the red chicken curry. We would go for a hike around Lake Seneca then go here for our own favorite dish. I long for the "pre-covid" days... I hope this family owned place makes it through these tough times. Please give them a try...you'll be hooked!

This is hands-down my family's favorite Asian cuisine restaurant. (We go one ... or more ... times per week.) The food is really good. I cannot handle spicy hot food. When I order a normally spicy dish, but with no spice, the food is still very flavorful. Really enjoy it!

I liked the selection of food. I tried the dumplings that has curry in them and blue crab with wasabi both steamed. They were both good. Hot and sour soup was good and spicy with just a little less thickness (maybe egg) than I really enjoy. I will go back to try other things. If you're a spotluck app user, the one drawback is they won't allow the discount on the lunch boxes.

It was yummy. I ordered the Pancit Bihon with vegetables and shrimp. It was delicious. They use just the right amount of oil and spices. Dessert was delicious. We had tempura red velvet cake which was just the right sweetness and oreo cookie tempura. Perfect dessert for an end to a lovely meal.

I love Indonesian and Malaysian food so I was excited to find this place. Great, cozy ambiance. The menu has a variety of dishes from Southeast Asia. We ordered two plates of dumplings (Soul Full and Thai Way, preferred the former to the latter), and two noodle dishes. I would HIGHLY recommend the Curry Laksa. It's a delicious, aromatic soup with tofu, chicken, and bean sprouts. The other dish we ordered was one that is a favorite of mine: Mie Goreng, an Indonesian dish common throughout Southeast Asia. However, their version lacked the spice and crispy quality of fried noodles and onion. It wasn't bad, and had plentiful meat, but it seemed like a different dish than what I expected. Serving sizes are large and presented attractively. Service was very friendly and attentive. I would recommend it, just for that curry!

We were just so impressed! Wow, what an eclectic array of flavors. We gave Henry full rein on the dumpling dishes and everything was fantastic. Our party tried every item. Our hats off to such a wonderful restaurant!

I am so happy to have been introduced to this gem in Gaithersburg. The laid back atmosphere is ideal to enjoy their traditional recipes. The dumplings are my favorites - unique spices with the perfect matching dipping sauce, yum! The great beer and wine selection, and friendly staff, just make the experience amazing.
