Brewpubs are expanding nationwide. Just like the large breweries that brew and bottle/can the beer we love, brewpubs brew their own beer on site, usually for immediate customer consumption, along with serving their own food. Galveston, Texas now has brewpubs of its own and here at Great Beer Now, we had the pleasure of visiting one of these newer brewpubs and sampling some of its amazing beer. The establishment is Brews Brothers, a pub and eatery on the Galveston Strand.
I first stumbled into Brews Brothers a couple of years ago and was blown away by the beer selection, friendly bartenders, atmosphere, and overall vibe of the place. It is the best bar I've ever been to anywhere. Sadly, I thought it would not last. I figured the concept of only serving really good craft beers would not work. Most people like cheap, crappy, flavorless beer. Thank God I was wrong! It's been 3 years and they're still going strong. They now serve incredible food. Everything on the menu is outstanding. Check it out. You won't be disappointed.
Great all around. First and foremost, the staff are great. Secondly, they have an excellent variety of beer on tap as well as a cask gravity tap. the food is excellent with finely crafted burgers.
Unique spot tucked away at one end of the Strand. Not sure if this is the norm or just because of the time of day we went, but it was bar service only. Food was good, but pretty standard, came out hot and fast. Lengthy draft list with lots of variety.
Location is in the prime area of downtown but is well past its prime. Needs some tax but has great potential. No longer brewing own beer but selling a range of craft beers . Food is ok .
Cool spot. Stopped in last night for a date night to try some beers and eat some dinner.
Service was awesome and the beers were all delicious
The food was OK. My smash burger wasn't really a smash burger and it was overcooked. Added salt and pepper and the flavors popped a bit more. My fries were about half crispy and good and half soggy from the oil.
They have live music on the weekends and were setting-up while we were in. Props to them for feeding the band for free.

I got the big Tex burger - my friends got the heat seeker. Everyone was super pleased with the taste and flavor. Good vibe to the place as well.
Bar for beer lovers. Bartender will give you a sample before you commit. Lots of variety on tap. Very cool spot. Texans games projected on the wall.

Good place to grab a beer.
We wanted to try this place out because everyone raves about their burgers and we wanted to compare it to our favorite. Vibe is dark and smells like a brewery for sure. Victoria, our server, was friendly and nice. You order everything at the bar.
My husband had a double smashburger with cheese. It was overcooked for his liking. Seasoning was lacking. That patties are too thick to be smashburgers. His fries were also not cooked enough and not crispy. I enjoyed their heat seeker burger with no bun. It was cooked to a perfect medium. The habanero aioli was AMAZING! I could bottle that up & take it home. Pickled serranos were fire! I agree with my hubs that the burger seasoning was lacking. If I didn't have the delicious habanero aioli on mine it would have needed S&P. It was a great spicy burger. I also enjoyed their avocado fries with cilantro ranch. Someone told me the ranch makes it, she was right. Avocado fries could use some seasoning for sure.
Overall, it's alright. Could return to try more items. Our favorite burger on the island remains at Mac-ies.
We went in Oct 31 around 1 and got lunch. It was the best burger I've ever had. The bartender was great and service was awesome! Thanks!
Food (chicken sandwich and burger) was very good. Order at the bar and they bring it to your table. Service was very nice but a little slow, it seemed understaffed when we were there. I would go back!
Best beer selection in town. But that's only HALF of the story. The kitchen is KILLER! the burgers are amazing. Get in there for lunch and a pint, or go for supper instead of taking a number at some lesser quality overcrowded place. The people are all very nice, and it's laid back inside with some games and t.v. , if that's your jam.
Great local place with excellent service, cool selection and a low-key atmosphere. Its like a speakeasy without the legalities. Love coming here and seeing whats new. Also they have tasty food to eat while sampling. Will definitely be back. Justin is Always awesome and will help you find the beer you want
