Arlan’s Market is a good market where lots of products are available, including but not limited to fruits, vegetables, stationeries, deli, Photo Booth, dairy, etc… right next to Suki Poke by the Sea. Arlan’s Market also supports other small scale convenience stores.
This is more of a neighborhood store. They have enough of the basic grocery items that you might need but don't expect a huge selection compared to Kroger or Walmart. Prices on certain items are slightly higher than your regular grocery stores, but I'd say it's a fair trade for the convenience and the ease of getting in and out quickly.
The best market to go shop...great prices and love to see vendors and their samples...I picked up a sample of:
Pain Thain Fresh Salas:
Roasted Red /Medium
Great Kitchen/Table Asst for $1.00
I luv to come by and pick up $1.00 goodies for my kids attending Texas Tech.
Great little neighborhood market. Things are not really in the place where you might think that they are but that's not an issue. Typically has a good selection but you might not find everything that you will at Kroger.. Much easier to get in and out of than Kroger, and much closer!
Convenient, friendly staff, decent selection.
Do u guys have a a Ufcu atm?
Great experience at this market! Very clean and had everything you can possibly think of. We were visiting from almost 7 hours away and needed some basic necessities, plus my husband wanted beer. They have everything from eggs, bacon and butter to wine, beer and I even bought him a pair of nice flip flops for half the price of what they were selling them for on The Strand! If you just need to make a quick trip from your hotel/motel or rental then give them a try! ☺
Very convenient if you are staying near UTMB. Sure the price is higher for some things but it sure beats driving 20 minutes to go to Walmart or wherever. The staff have been friendly to me and make nice conversation while at the checkout line.
Some must haves are the BBQ and fried chicken in back, and the potato salad is pretty tasty as well.
Yes there is a distinct smell the first time you walk in but you get used to it much like the smell in your own house and hardly notice it after a while.
I never noticed anything that looked dirty as I saw in some reviews but maybe I was not looking close enough -- ill be on the lookout and update if so.
Only con I can think of is that some items are more expensive than at other markets so you have to check the prices unless you don't mind paying 2x for paper towels or whatever every once in a while.
As many mention, the price is much higher than a very large store. But that is also a part of it's appeal. Most of the produce there are much fresher than other stores, and they still have a wide or wider variety than much larger stores. This is not purely a grocery store, and another reviewer hit the nail on the head of it feeling like a full-service convenience store as they have isles and sections dedicated to home supplies that wouldn't initially expect. We love the different variety of Spanish brands they carry that you wouldn't be able to find at a much larger store, and we have found some real tasty treats that we love thanks to that. There are a couple extremely friendly and outgoing workers, but the rest take a much more 'average' approach. Besides the one worker apparently never seeing nip**es through a shirt before and needlessly staring, I would suggest stopping by here to supplement smaller needs throughout the week/month that you don't want to travel across island to a bigger store for.
Good apple and fruits market
All good. Excellent cashier/sacker - this lady checked all items out and bagged them and placed them in buggy; all done alone! Friendly too. Outstanding. You might consider her running this store.
