Yummy mushroom soon! The Banchan is great as well and they serve pretty quickly! Some of the ladies aren’t very pleasant but the male servers were all pleasant. When you ask for spicy soup they follow instructions on the follow thru. Menu seems to be more expanded than my last visit which was sometime last year or so.
I recommend making a reservation prior to coming here as this place gets busy for a good reason. Here's why...they offer really good Asian food and service that's consistent. We ordered the dumplings and I must say that the dipping sauce they have mixed with a bit of the chili sauce tops it off! Our order included the short ribs with extra rice and the bibimbap. The short ribs were marinated perfectly with every bit you got that bbq flavor, mmm!!! Now, the bibimbap was my first time trying and it's a rice bowl with Asian vegetables that tasted so good with a little bit of the spicy sauce added. Definitely a lively popping place that gets busy really quick. Enjoy!
I was near HMart and saw this place during lunch. There is a long line but it was moving pretty fast. The sofu tofu is good. I really enjoyed the tofu with the side dishes.
My bulgogi was really flavorful and tender. There was a robot that deliver food to your table that was cute. I might come back here again.
For a reasonable price, Kaju Soft Tofu has a variety of offerings, including their bibimbap and sets like their pork bulgogi. Their pork bulgogi is very flavorful with a nice level of spicy and aromatic flavors infused in the pork. They are also very fair with their Ban Chan, refilling it the moment it runs out. Their kimchi is not too sour while having the umami fermented taste. Overall, a great option for Korean food.
First time here! Stopped by for late lunch/ early dinner. Prompt, friendly service. The food was excellent, and it was trippy having a robot waiter deliver part of our food. The beef was tasty and well prepared, as was the chicken. I had kimche tofu soup, which was a delight. All the side dishes were a treat and the rice was just about the best I've ever had. Very reasonable prices. I definitely recommend this restaurant and can't wait to go again.
The pan-fried veggie gyozas are so crispy! Love the circular shape bc they fit neatly into the dipping cup. Gonna order these every time now. I got the sesame tofu spicy. Their tofu soup has been consistently delicious in my experience. The price is kind of high for tofu soup so I only go occasionally now. Quick service and always fun to watch the robot deliver hot dishes.
Delicious soft tofu mushroom soup. you get the main dish along with rice and side dishes
Having been a regular customer I have noticed that the rice has become mushy and the side dishes are much smaller than before, if you want 5 star go back the way it was.
Latest Update.
Rice is MUCH better and the portion is EXCELLENT. All the sides are great as well.
Only wish they had separate place for phone orders to go instead of having to wait for more than 15 minutes after the order supposed to be ready.
I normally come during lunch. Try to get here at least 15 minutes before noon, otherwise expect a bit of a wait. It's usually pretty busy, but the servers are quick. The tofu soups are the best of any place I've had nearby and I usually get the spicy chicken or pork as well; the all-you-can-eat sides are really well made and delicious. I stopped ordering triple-spicy (the hottest level on the menu), it's not too spicy for my tongue but it always upsets my stomach.
Came here, waited around an hour or so. The tofu soup was great and the meat dish I got was delicious. Service was amazing as well but I would’ve preferred less waiting. Again, love the tofu soup here though! Recommend going for the mushroom tofu soup!
There is one waitress who seems like the boss, that is very rude and rushes you. If you don't get her then you will have an amazing experience here.
Very nice service on a Wednesday night. The young gentleman who works there is always super hardworking, and has come to me a few times to see if I am doing ok. This is the kind of service that truly deserves recognition.
As their name says all, they are determined to be know as a Soft Tofu soup specialist. In winter, this is not at all a bad place to eat. Of course most Americans have no idea what to eat in Hankook restaurant. They usually know Kalbi, northern Korean style flat rib bbq. Real Hallyu is rice, vegetables and seafoods. Meat eating culture is a transplant culture from North. Stop sipping soju too much, it’s strong and may f your brain unless you’re a psychopath already. It’s another transplant culture from North, that is particularly from mongol invaders.
Came here many times, either dine-in or take-out, always to my satisfaction. Fair prices, great food, fast services (staff are so focus and dedicated to their jobs, like many other Korean restaurants, wish they can smile more 😅). IMHO, their foods are tastier than BCD Tofu House. Use the waitlist function in Yelp! in advance to avoid long wait
This place is always crowded especially in the weekends. They have Yelp check-in now the last time I was here. Overall the meat and tofu are super so it's definitely worth the way. It's a level above BCD chain. They have a bakery shop right next door so you can get some pastries for dessert or tomorrow breakfast. I always go for the short ribs combo. The side dishes are good as well and unlimited refills!
Finally got to try this restaurant out and it did not disappoint!!
My friends and I were deciding between this place and BCD. Since BCD near us was packed, we picked Kaju because we were able to utilize the yelp waitlist. That is a huge game changer for us since we had the luxury of signing up from our home and having the table ready when we got there.
The food here is not very cheap but you do get great quality food. My boyfriend wasn’t feeling the soup, so he opted for the a la carte beef bulgogi sizzling plate that came on a bed of white onions. This costs $20.99 and comes with a pot of white rice.
I wanted to try the combo meal so I could get the best of both worlds. I also chose the beef bulgogi and had the vegetable dumpling tofu soup with mild spice for $20.99. Considering I was not super hungry, I definitely could have split the combo meal between my boyfriend and I but I can see how it would be a perfect portion for someone with an appetite.
The tofu is indeed as soft as the restaurant name claims and the broth is delicious! I love how they also gave us eggs so I could cook it in my tiny pot and then pour over my rice once cooked.
The banchan was also quite delicious. We especially enjoyed the fish cakes and cucumbers and these can be refilled as often as you’d like.
The bill comes with gratuity added on so no need to break out the calculator.
Overall, this isn’t the cheapest restaurant in garden grove but the food was worth it and I can see myself returning for another visit!
