I cannot but say that this is an A-1 kind of place! Our breakfast was excellent (especially the blueberry pancakes), the venue is as you see it—Instagram worthy and Guy Fieri worthy in every respect. A classic!
Loved this Diner❤ What a great place to eat and the food was excellent!!! Service was very down home and polite!!! We both had the Fried Chicken dinner, mine with mashed potatoes and peas, hers was fries and coleslaw. BTW, the coleslaw was AWESOME!!! Can't wait to try their breakfast!!!
Amazing diner car still in business! The diner car is around 80 years old. It is awesome to see and the food is great. The service is good and friendly people. We just happen to be in town on vacation and came across this restaurant. It’s a must see!

July 31, 2021 - Time travel is possible at Gardiner’s old fashion A-1 Diner on Bridge Street ! Quaint diner feel, with good comfort food earns a 4.5 rating!
Their menu offers up several pages of breakfast, lunch, and dinner items at reasonable prices. My wife’s roast beef wrap was stacked & packed! And good! I enjoyed a turkey sandwich with cranberry chutney, also good! Friends order up meatloaf sandwich, and chicken curry wrap . . . They both spoke highly of the quality! Save room for desserts . . . Taste as good as they look! Great service too, thanks Alex!
Don’t miss the signed photo of Guy Fieri, who’s TV show stopped for a sneak peak on Diners, Drive-Ins, and Dives ! He’s a nut, and real Chef !

I followed a friend's suggestion and tried this place out. The staff (waitress and cook) were extremely friendly and helpful. A1 offers a simple menu ranging from burgers, to comfort foods or healthy. I had the beet arugula salad with goat cheese and sliced almonds...DELICIOUS. I can't wait to go back again. Parking is available out back or along the street. Highly recommend it!
A classic diner in an old train car!!! We went during breakfast and had a delightful meal. Our server Linda was super nice and attentive even though they were quite busy. The food was delicious and fresh with that classic diner touch. It's definitely the kind of place where they learn your name if you come in more then once, and there's always good times to be had in that kind of environment. Wish more places like this still existed!!!!
If your in the area, do stop in, if your not in the area MAKE THE TRIP! MOST AMAZING DELICIOUS FOOD EVER! I love my honey holes!
This humble rumble in the middle of Gardiner, Maine is an absolute DELIGHT. As seen on the infamous Guy Fieris TV show, the food was incredible, the service rapid, and the folks and ambiance charming.
I myself got the deliciously creamy and savory Mac n cheese shepherds pie. It's basically shepherds pie but replace the Potatoes with baked macaroni and cheese. Flavorful, delicious, and very filling for the price!
I also got peanut butter cookies, sweet and peanut buttery and very thick.
Well worth the visit if you find yourself in Central Maine! Grab a tee-shirt!
