My wife and I stayed in room 6 for two nights (11/10 and 11th). Greeted warmly upon entry with complimentary champagne which we sipped by the common room fireplace. Room was as expected and the romance package cheese and champagne platter was waiting for us there. This package is so worth the $100 fee. Besides getting $75 off our dinner, a wine tasting was included as well as the platter. We opted to have dinner there on Friday and was seated promptly. Both of us started with the corn and crab chowder which was unique and full of flavor. For our entree, my wife ordered the braised lamb shank while I got the 16 oz rib eye steak. My wife said the lamb was "fall off the bone" great and I don't think I ever had a rib eye that was better. Service was impeccable.
The room was everything I expected with it's own fireplace and a jacuzzi. On hindsight, I probably should have reserved a more accessible room as my wife had difficult climbing into the jacuzzi, but otherwise the room was a good size and the bathroom almost as large as the room!
As for breakfast, the chef makes a special dish for all B&B patrons. If you prefer something else, I was told they will oblige. My wife and I however stayed with the chef special and was not disappointed. First morning we had shrimp and grits. Now I am NOT a grits fan, but I thought I'd give it a go and it was delicious. Consistency of the grits was more like mash potatoes which I loved. The second morning the special was Eggs Benedict on a base of pulled pork and toast. Perfectly prepared.
As others have mentioned, the Wi-fi coverage can be better. We could get coverage from our room for the most part, but we are right outside the common access room upstairs so expect limited if any access in your room. Downstairs, reception was marginal as well in the restaurant but quite good just outside it in the common access area where the bar is.
I thought traffic noise might be a problem seeing they are right on the corner but this never was a problem.
All in all, money well spent. Highly recommended.
My wife and I had the pleasure to stay here in September. Wow exceeding everything we could have hoped for, from the whirlpool tub the fire place our room was perfect. Great place and better than any chain hotel in Gettysburg.
Great food, better sommelier! My wife and I had such a nice dinner with wonderful wine parings in a very historic setting and cozy table. Highly recommend!
My wife and I went there to celebrate her birthday. The food was excellent and we never felt rushed. The price was as expected. We were seated on the porch which was nice. I wanted to sit in the front window but was too late making the reservation.I highly recommend this restaurant!
My husband & I dined here for the first time last night. Let me just say, it was an absolutely amazing experience. The atmosphere, service, and food/wine combined provided an unforgettable evening.
Nicki was our server. She was attentive, informative and even adjusted the temperature for me. She allowed us time between each course to sit, talk and drink our wine, which was quite nice. Their wine connessuier was great as well. He answered our questions and guided us through a delicious wine pairing.
The food...oh my, where to start!? Just when we thought it couldn't get better from the course we were on, it did. Our compliments to the chef! The plating was so visually appetizing with each round. Baby cakes were phenomenal, chowder was incredible, and dinner for two was out of this world! I can't wait to come back! Thank you for a fantastic evening!
Champagne when we arrived, beautiful room, amazing breakfast! Great staff, great location and great price for a night away!!

My love treated me to a weekend here for my birthday. It was amazing. Diane and Sue were the hosts and their knowledge of the Inn's history was wonderful. They graciously took time out of their busy day to show us around and give us a history lesson about the Inn. The chef's breakfasts and dinner is out of this world. This is definitely a place I would recommend to everyone I know who is visiting Gettysburg or just wants to get away for a weekend.
Beautiful B&B in convenient location! The breakfast was outstanding and the staff very friendly. There's a rumor that the main house may be hunted, we stayed in the annex which is a modern, and charming building. Did I mention that they bake extremely delicious chocolate chip cookies? Definitely will come back again!
My wife and I stayed here for our anniversary this week (4/22-4/25) and it was perfect, as usual.
This time we stayed in Room 14 in the Annex house. The room is very large and includes a large bathroom with a two person jacuzzi tub and standup shower. It also has its own private entrance as well as a patio.
Diane and Dawn did a wonderful job with making us feel at home during our stay and making sure we had everything we needed. We discussed the town, the history, and the upcoming “Dinner with a Ghost” event.
We also discussed some hauntings from when we stayed in Room 1 once before (a teacup flew out of my hand as I was standing still).
We always have a fantastic time when we stay at the Inn at Herr Ridge (this was our sixth stay!) but I think this time was by far the best we’ve had. We will definitely be back again as soon as possible.
We had a beautiful time celebrating my birthday at the Inn last week. We started the evening with a elegant dining experience in the main house. Our server was pleasant and attentive, the menu had a vast selection of entrees, and each course served was exquisitely displayed, as well as scrumptious! The warmth of the fireplace was the perfect touch to a chilly evening and made our choice about lingering a little longer to enjoy the chef's secret recipe cheesecake, an easy one.
After dinner, we headed up to our getaway for the evening - ROOM #4 , The Alcove. Let me just say that the photos online, do not due this room, nor the Inn justice. I am so glad that the person who scheduled our reservation over the phone recommended this room for us. It was absolutely perfect.
The room was so much more than we expected and was tastefully decorated with a nice blend of old and new furnishings. We live in a historical home and are very accustomed to the character and charm of such treasured spots. The Inn at Herr Ridge will not disappoint. Our bathroom had recently been updated and was a welcomed surprise to our visit. The care and attention to detail of our hostess was just as important to the experience as anything else. She toured us about the common area and each device and detail of our room to ensure a pleasant and comforting stay.
The fruit, cheese and cracker tray, champagne, water, and Keurig were incredibly thoughtful touches to have within our room. The fully stocked common area was also amply supplied to satisfy every need that a guest would have. The rooftop deck, large skylights and windows made what could be a very dark and dreary space in a upper level historical home, quite the opposite! The area was flooded with light, welcoming and encouraged mingling or relaxing, whatever your preference might be.
We enjoyed breakfast in the sun basked Blue and White Morning Room. The continental breakfast display was fresh, lovely and tempting. We were greeted with a hearty "Good Morning", coffee, French toast smothered in Blueberries, whip cream and powdered sugar and a side of crisp bacon!! Yummy!!! This send off made it so hard to leave. We rose rested, refreshed, relaxed and ready to face the day ahead.
We are so grateful to all of those involved behind the scenes to make such an experience happen. Your staff are to be commended and hats off to you the Innkeepers for setting such a fine example. We would look forward to a return visit and will highly recommend your facilities.
Where do I start? I visited the fine dining area on June 13. Our waitress was so sweet and very friendly. I love the farm to table concept. The food was absolutely amazing. Delicious and beautifully presented. Would highly recommend you eat here on your next trip!
The food. The wine. The rooms. The staff. The pampering. - Perfection!
Fabulous!
Not only a beautiful historic building but gorgeous Decour and amazing food their Chef Michael his last name I can’t remember has done as superb job with the menu the service is elegant and everything is first class
You just don't get any better.... Top notch restaurant. Our server was outstanding, as well. Food was out of this world! Highly recommended!!
