Review First & Last Tavern - Glastonbury

One star rating for giving my wife food poisoning! Went to the First & Last Tavern last Thursday night (2/10/22) and, my wife got sick with Campylobacter (bacteria from chicken) from eating the honey hot chicken wings. My wife thankfully is currently recovering and spoke with the CDC after her test results came back from the hospital. Photo of the culprit of the Campylobacter vehicle in question.

Great food at a very fair price! The parmesan garlic fries and the chicken wings are great! I would definitely also end your lunch/dinner with some ice cream! If you’re with a date, one to share should definitely be enough after a good meal!

I was really surprised by this restaurant…Plan to spend 2 hours, 1-20 min to wait for food. Served bread but it was cold hard and chewy..fries were cold. If you like bland tasteless food this is the place to be. If you want to be dehydrated this is the place for you! No salt and pepper no napkins.. under trained staff and and staff standing around socializing. They could had went and refilled our drinks.. glasses sat empty for the whole time we were waiting for food and then had to ask for refills after food was delivered! They were just running food out but placing it at the wrong end of the table and leaving us to have to pass around the plates to the correct person around the table . Ran out of Coors light on a Saturday night.. We were not impressed for our first visit. I completely understand being short staffed but to have staff there who couldn’t help the waitress seemed pointless. Bathrooms.. toilet paper everywhere both times I went in. Overfilled trash. Bathroom door stall doesn’t lock so as I was peeing someone opened the door! How embarrassing!!! Was looking forward for a nice meal. There are plenty of other restaurants in Glastonbury to go. Shrimp scampi was tasteless very watery the shrimp tails were left on which for the price of a bowl of linguini full of capers and a few shrimps it was not good. Thank goodness we had good company.

Food was ok, but the service was not great. We ordered two apps, two drinks and two salads. Both drinks and one app came out in a reasonable time. The other app and both salads came out much later. For the price we were disappointed. It looks like they are short on help which is not my problem.

Pretty awful, 12noon & almost no one in the restaurant but yet staff walking around & no one acknowledges me. Finally I'm seated. 10 min & no menu. I asked for someone to help & finally the bartender comes over. I ordered the chicken soup & 1/2 turkey panini, lettuce, tomato & bacon. Soup comes, was quite good but not 2 noodle in it. Waitress said ...oh, they forgot to put them in! Ok, then I get the turkey wrap. No lettuce, no bacon, no tomato,& tasted funny. I showed the waitress, oh that's the prosciutto panini! Of which I did NOT order!. Totally disgusted, I won't go back, at least not Glastonbury. Plus it was quite dusty & dirty in there.

The food was great; however, that that outweighed by the terrible and slow service and the noise level. Simply put, waitress was inattentive and then rude when we asked for service. Place was so loud you can't hear anyone at your table.

I came here for lunch on a Sunday afternoon with a group of 6 others. It was easy to spot from the road and also had parking onsite. The menu was large and they offered lunch from 12-4pm. The pizza was extremely good, however the chicken dish I got needed a bit of salt. The service was also quite slow, but I will say extremely nice! It was a good visit overall.

Very disappointing. Unfortunately this was the second pizza I ordered in one day that was made incorrectly. I ordered the broccoli specialty pizza however there is no cheese, so when the pizza came to my house most of the toppings fell off. I called the restaurant to inform them of what has happened and the manager laughed hysterically and told me there was nothing they could do. I do not recommend ordering from the Glastonbury First and Last because the quality and service is very poor. I don’t understand how this is acceptable. I have been a loyal customer for almost 20 years and I never had such an experience. If you want to enjoy a nice dinner from First and Last I would recommend the Hartford location so that your food will be edible, have nice presentation, and professional service. I’m not sure if my family will ever order from this restaurant again. 1 Star for the owners who must be very embarrassed by their Glastonbury location.

We ate at the bar on Saturday night. Food was good. Service was Terrible!!!!!! It was busy but there were two girls behind the bar. One gave us A, as in one menu for two people. Then we ordered drinks. Which I ordered Kettle Soda and they either gave me Well vodka or they put cheap vodka in top shelf bottles because it was like straight rubbing alcohol and soda, but I paid for Kettle. Once we got them we waited 20 minutes to place an order, mind you the blonde bartender waited on all the other people around us and never even acknowledged us once, even while she was standing around doing nothing after she asked all the other customers but us if we needed anything; while the brunette bar tender loaded the dish washer, ran for food, drinks, waited on other tables in the bar area, etc. I had to ask a hostess for bread, which we didn’t even know was an option till we saw them give it to everyone else but us. We got our bread after we got our food. Then we ordered carrot cake to go and waited 15 minutes for it along with the check. I wish we could rate different aspects of the experience cuz I would give the food a 5 and the service a 2. I have searched in many places for man years; That blonde behind the counter was not a team player and I feel bad for the brunette that was running around like a banshee taking care of everything while the blonde just stood there not doing anything. I hope they didn’t pool tips that night. I’d go back though cuz I give a place a couple chances before I completely stop going. I recommend the Neapolitan Pizza!

This was our first time at F & L and our experience was Fantastic! 5 stars is not enough! I can not rave enough about our experience. We were greeted with such warmth and friendliness. Prompted seated, our wonderful server, Julia made an already really pleasant experience, excel through the roof! Friendly, cordial, sweet, attentive and very knowledgeable about the menu, Julia helped us make perfect selections of calamari and also mozzarella and tomato, most delightfully dressed with the most perfect blend of fresh basil and vinaigrette. She never rushed me to make any selections, instead encouraged me to take my time and enjoyed our adult beverages and appetizers before making dinner selections. Julia answered menu questions for us and helped Jim to select shrimp and scallop risotto, which was out of this world! I would order it, again, in a heartbeat! The risotto was the most delicious and perfectly created that either one of us have ever tasted! It was creamy and flavorful; a most perfect consistency. The scallops were large, spectacularly flavored, and like the risotto, cooked to perfection. I had salmon provencale, which was sooooooo delicious! The salmon was flaky and melt in my mouth! Capers, olives, tomatoes and asparagus complemented the salmon; all the flavors distinct but truly wonderful together. The presentation of each plate belonged in the pages of a magazine. The meals looked as beautiful as they were delicious! Julia helped us to select the right dessert choice for us; bread pudding with two scoops of creamy vanilla ice cream. Jim and I both love bread pudding and order it often. Without a doubt, this was one of the finest; light spices enhancing, baked perfectly, plenty of plump delicious raisins! Our meals were perfection. Julia's attention, friendliness and courtesy could not have been any better timed or spaced. Today was a special day for us. First & Last helped us to create a very a wonderful memory and we really hope to come back to make additional ones. We couldn't not recommend First & Last Tavern Glastonbury enough!

I love the original Tavern, Glastonbury was a disappointment. Over $12 for 5 small dry ravioli, lunch menu. Sauce was good but I could buy better ravioli frozen at Costco and much cheaper also.

Service was very friendly but I ordered the ravioli in a Alfredo sauce and it came out lukewarm and maybe it's just my taste buds but the Asiago cheese they top it with just doesn't seem to compliment the dish and they put way too much parsley I think it was in the Alfredo sauce which over powered the sauce. I don't normally return a dish but I had to because of the temp. They did apologize and sent me another plate which was much warmer, but this did not help the other tastes that clashed.

Took my mom there for mother's day and she ordered crab cakes which were awful. Over priced crab cakes. They tasted as if they were frozen and them dumped into a fryer. They were salty and didn't see a lot of crab meat. Wings for appetizer was the only thing that was good. My burger was dry.

First time there. Loved the attention from the check in area. Friendly staff and the food was good! I would go again for sure. Thanks!

My husband, son and I had dinner here for the first time last night and it definitely lived up to our expectations. We shared honey hot wings (excellent), meatballs al forno and eggplant marinara for apps. Delicious! Our son had spaghetti and meatballs and we shared a fantastic neopolitan pizza. The crust had great texture and flavor, the tomatoes were nice and ripe, good quality mozz, and just enough garlic to make it extremely flavorful without being overwhelming. On a side note, the marinara sauce was so good that I bought two jars to make Sunday dinner ( chicken parm ) with instead of making my own. Saved me time and it turned out so, so good. Yum! Definitely plan on going back to explore the rest of their menu, and will do take-out pizza now that I know they offer it.

I am a big fan of First and Last...especially in Glastonbury. You can't beat the food, the service and the ambience! Once a week is not enough to visit this great eatery! I love the eggplant marinara and the broccoli rabbe!

Always great food! Every time I've gone I've been impressed.

Did take out tonight. Ordered a large pizza with broccoli topping! Sadly, very little sauce and one or two broccolis per slice. Wasn't the greatest pizza!!

Awful service. Our pizza was like warm when we got it and the beverage (non alcoholic) bill was absurd. Won’t go back.

Food is always good. Love the atmosphere. I had the turkey blt panini which was very good.

Missing knife- silverware.... Bartender forgot to bring one. Also Forgot our 2nd round drinks. Two servers coming out of kitchen chewing on food. Bartender forgot our to-go bag. Moreover, she never checked on the meal- or us - missing the opportunity for me to send my soup back as I didn't care for it. At the time of our arrival, we were the only 2 ppl at the bar itself. There were 2 tables in bar area... & 2 additional tables in restaurant. By the time we left - there were 6 others at the bar. Bartender was obviously weeded & not a single employee helped her. 'Hostess' stood there at the front on his cell phone entire time.

Stopped in yesterday with family to have a few drinks and ended up having the garlic flatbread which was amazing
