Review Zeke's Place - Gloucester

Marty Emigh
This is definitely a "locals" place. It has a great neighborhood setting across from the harbor. Signs all around reaffirm they operate at a slower speed than fast food and that all orders are made from scratch. The menu is the perfect combination of classic and new, and the food tasted like it came from my mother's kitchen. If you want to have breakfast IN Gloucester, this is the place. We will be back on our next trip for sure.

We were in the area for a quick weekend getaway and found Zekes place. This is a fantastic spot for breakfast! Great food and service! It has a very comfortable home-like atmosphere that my friends and I loved. The fresh baked options are delicious! And they give you lots of food! If you are ever in the area, you’ve got to come here!

I am so in love with the breakfasts here. All homemade, and so imaginative, with all the hometown originals. Many Eggs Benny varieties, thick French toast, yummy sweet potato hashbrowns, and French roast coffee. A staple to Gloucester. If you visit and don't go here at least once your missing out.

You can't beat the food and atmosphere at Zeke's. Nostalgic music, genuine service and food prepared and served with love and perfection. Today I had the Turkey Bacon Avocado Club with Tomato soup for lunch. Yuuuuuge sandwich so it will also be dinner.

On the water in Cape Ann MA. We went there to go whale watching and wanted to get some local food and support small business. Zekes fit all. Food was great & they had grits too. Great place to go in a nice atmosphere.

Zeke's is a "must" when visiting East Gloucester. If you're looking for a quirky atmosphere, impressive staffing, and delicious food (not to mention the amazing bread), Zeke's Place is..well, the place! Seriously though, the French Toast is wicked!

Giving a five star review isn’t enough. This diner style breakfast joint is to die for. They have great service, always keeping you on your toes with amazing lively conversations. The food? Easily one of the most delicious on cape Ann. The prices are lower than the other local dine ins. Call ahead to make sure they aren’t packed. They will put you on a list if they are full. The dining room itself is clean and well spacing. They show off local artists throughout the restaurant, which is wonderful. You are able to purchase as well. They have a lot of fresh from scratch products for sale as well! I highly suggest the jams.

I actually didn’t plan on coming here, but the other place we scouted out was closed. I must say i’m glad it was because we would have missed out on an amazing meal. I wasn’t too sure what to expect from how the outside looked, but you can’t judge a book by it’s cover. Our waiter was really welcoming and was attentive. I ordered pancakes, bacon, scrambled eggs and grits everything was amazing. my fiancé order a breakfast bowl and a side of french toast with fresh apples and apple drizzled syrup on top. my god was that french toast amazing kind of wish i ordered it for myself luckily she was nice enough to share. if/when we ever come back to boston we will be making the trip back to this diner for sure.

Wonderful breakfast place on the way to Rocky Neck! Fab service! I love the sign in the front that everything is cooked to order and to please go to Dunkin Donuts if you need an immediate breakfast! Love the Monte Christo, the blueberry pancakes and the Anadama French toast!!

This is such a great little whole in the wall local breakfast spot. Hot coffee, yummy eggs Benedict and a really nice fruit cup! We are from Arizona but I would definitely come here again if we were local!

Being from Chicago we’re used to hood food- this was one of the best breakfasts I’ve had in a while. Homemade, fresh and great ingredients. The toasted blueberry bread was wonderful.

They have REAL grits! What a treat. I don't think it's even on the menu, but you can have true gritty grits instead of potatoes with your egg dish for a change of pace. The short order cooks are truly talented and craft exceptional breakfast plates. The waitstaff work hard as well. Enjoy. Be fore warned though. They have a regular customer named Peter ( older guy with dark glasses ) who likes to loudly regale, to anyone who'll listen, his exploits and " opinions ". I think he's been banned from other Gloucester restaurants.

We visited here on a recent stop in Gloucester by chance. We were looking for a breakfast place, and Zeke’s Place came up in our google search for nearby restaurants...so we decided to check it out. It’s located right across the street from the bay/harbor which was nice. When we walked up to the door, I noticed the Phantom Gourmet sticker on the glass which was a cool surprise, and made me excited to try the place. For those who might not know, “The Phantom Gourmet” is a restaurant review TV show featuring exceptionally good establishments around the New England area... so if you see the logo, you’re probably about to have a good meal! The restaurant is cozy and quaint with local original art for sale on the walls, which was cool to look at while eating. The server(s) were warm, friendly and helpful.. and attentive without being overly so. The food came out in good time in spite of the restaurant being busy, and it looked great and was nice and hot. We ordered a western omelette, it came with hand sliced marble rye and some excellent home fries. Eggs were cooked perfectly, no runny interior, so perfect. I also ordered a side of “Zeke’s Beans” which I highly recommend ordering if you are fortunate enough to visit here! We also got one of the specials.. Apple Pie French Toast.. Mega-thick slices of perfect French toast with an apple and caramel topping.. crazy good. What more can I say? If I’m going to Gloucester again, I’m going to Zeke’s Place.. if I could give a 6th star I would. Love Zeke’s.

This place is AWESOME!! Great food, hilarious brother+sister chefs, super chill atmosphere and they play flashback 70s disco music. A total hidden gem. We laughed at much. The most fun breakfast EVER!!

Best breakfast in Gloucester! The staff is friendly and attentive. Zeke's offers several gluten free options for customers with Celiac Disease or gluten allergies. This made me happy!! The Zeke's Beans are amazing and the atmosphere is fun. I loved the decor and all the paintings on the walls from a local artist. Being able to watch the chefs cook the food was pretty cool. Everyone working there just seemed happy. That's a good sign. A very down to earth, unpretentious small restaurant in the heart of the harbor with excellent food, good portion sizes and reasonable prices. Will be back next year!

We have breakfast here every time we are in Gloucester, they never disappoint us! The waitstaff is friendly and the food is outstanding! By far the best breakfast in Gloucester!

Just went there out of the ordinary for the first time in like 10 years and I have to say this is now my ultimate FAVORITE breakfast spot ever!! So so good! Couldn’t come up with one complaint.... other than I cleaned my whole plate and I’m way too full!

We have been here before and couldn't wait to come back! They have GF breads and English muffins to make many dishes GF. The food is amazing! We sat at the counter this time and were fascinated watching Chef Mike. He didn't miss a beat! Hands down our favorite breakfast place in the area! We'll be back again before we leave!

The place was packed! Had to wait a little while for the food, but expected. The food was excellent! I would recommend this to anyone.

An older man was walking his golden retriever and we asked him the best place for breakfast. "You need to try Zeke's Place." Hey old man..GREAT CALL! Blueberry bread just melts in your mouth. Fishcakes and eggs..guaranteed to grow hair on your chest (ladies wear a turtleneck if you order this one :-). We'll be back!

I wish I could include the pic I took of my hubby and his apple pie French toast, but suffice it to say he is still talking about it the next day. I had the paleo power breakfast which was equally delicious. The service was friendly and they made the best of a short staffed kitchen....the food was well worth the wait...fresh and delicious!

I have been here many times. Never had a bad experience. The food was always great. The funky omelette choices, the biscuits and gravy and the home made breads are all to die for.

Zeeks s the best gourmet 2 homemade breakfast you will ever have for a reasonable price

A real hearty breakfast!. French toast with shredded coconut, pancakes with poached pears, Amish bacon and sausage, fresh squeezed orange and grapefruit juice, eggs Benedict with salmon. Zeke's breakfast menu is both innovative and old-fashioned. Mostly locals make up the clientele, but everyone is friendly. This hole in the wall is strictly breakfast and can get crowded, but it opens at 4:30 a.m. for the benefit of the Gloucester watermen. Prices are reasonable.

Best Breakfast Ever!. If you want 100 varieties of homemade bread, delicious egg dishes with all types of additions, thick bacon, and homemade fishcakes (try them, you'll love them!!) come to Zeke's. They have been in business for a long time and have a loyal clientele that keeps coming back. Coffee is good (not great) but keeps coming, and the breakfasts are the best!! Homemade beans are fabulous too. Don't be surprised if there's a wait on Sunday brunch time, but they are open other days of the week too, or show up a little early to avoid the rush.
