We went there for brunch this morning, and sat at the bar. The two female bartenders were amazing! Super attentive, and made great cocktails. I started with the sassafras Mary, and it was delicious. Lots of yummy accompaniments. My husband had an old fashioned, and it was so good , he had two. I had the wedge salad with grilled chicken. Yum! The vegetables were really fresh, and the dressing was yummy. My husband had a basic breakfast, and said it was delicious. Especially the biscuit and gravy. Highly recommend! A gem in Golden!
There are not enough stars on the spectrum for this spot. I LOVE Sassafras. I love that it is owned by a couple and the wife is the Chef behind all of the insanely thoughtful and delicious items on the menu. I love that the servers are knowledgable about the menu in full and will let you know if you are ordering too much food; creating the possibility of the happiest food coma you'll ever reach. Drinks are outstanding, Bloody Mary's are highly recommended for while you're waiting for a table because I'm sure you'll be waiting! Which is not a bad thing at all, just another sign that this restaurant is crushing it. I currently live in Los Angeles, but anytime I am in Colorado I make it a point to come to sassafras. Hands down one of my top favorites; ever. Dang...now i'm just craving a Bison hash and a bloody mary.... Miss you Sassafras! Hope you're still killing it out there!
Great Southern breakfast and brunch spot. I had the fried chicken & pimento cheese biscuit. It was excellent. Next time I'd ask for triple the pickles because they were amazing. It would also be interesting to try with jalapeno cornbread instead of the biscuit. Portions were large.
Service is wonderful, the seating is great. I've never had to wait in line. Plating is exceptional considering it's just a brunch restaurant. I love coming here! There Benedict's are amazing and so are there beingets! I had the smoked salmon Benedict 🙌
Good selection of drinks and food! Definitely come here to get your brunch game on! It does get a little busy so arrive outside of the rush. The staff are friendly and helpful.
We went to this place because of all the positive reviews and were not disappointed. Buffalo hash was awesome. Banana bread starter was decadent and delicious. Completely missed that it had chocolate chips in it when reading the menu so we were pleasantly surprised. Green chile gravy was by far my favorite part of the meal. The biscuit they serve with that might be that best biscuit I’ve ever had. And to top it all off they do mimosa and bloody mary flights!! Definitely stop by this place for brunch if you’re in town.
I literally teared up. I can't remember if I ever had a meal where it was so good it brought tears to my eyes... Maybe I'm wack, but the Buffalo hash made me chuckle and get misty eyed. I never heard of anything like this. Coming here was a circumstance if other options being closed. I'm still sitting here with my food in front of me. I didn't want to leave without leaving a review. Thank you for a wonderful and unforgettable experience!
Skip the big chain restaurants and eat here. I haven’t had such good service at a restaurant in a LONG time! Raquel, our host, and the bartender were so friendly. The food was absolutely amazing too. The beignets are a must try (even if you’re having pancakes).
