I would give this a six star if I could. We went there for a late breakfast and the foos was phenomenal! We did have about a twenty minute wait to get in. Its worth the wait!
We split a cinnamon roll - outstanding! then we both had the Denver Omelette. The pineapple salsa on top really set this apart! The grilled biscuit was the real deal. The service perfect. The waiter guided us on the menu and was incredibly friendly. I live in Ohio so I won't be there again for awhile. I will be back!

Our server Austin, even though it was busy, spent some time on the menu with us because it was our first time there. We had a few questions about different items on the menu, as their specialty is Mexican inspired, and he helped us pick something delicious. I highly recommend it.
The food is great! The people are very freindly! We come for the kite fest! This is the first place we eat!!
The cherry pancakes are my husbands favorite. They’re not always on the menu. But you guys made them for him anyways. Thank you!
And the coffee is to die for!!
My favorite breakfast place on planet earth. I usually go with the Tuscan scramble. The chilaquiles are also fantastic.
Food excellent and service excellent! I recommend this place as a must stop! I would not change a thing!
You can’t go wrong with anything on their menu!!! Specials are always great too! My Go-To spot for breakfast in GH!
Clever decor and imaginative, delicious menu items make this breakfast spot quite a treat.
The food is great, staff is friendly & attentive. The wait can be a bit long, but that's because it's worthwhile. I'm not even much of a breakfast person, but I love their food! Definitely try the pineapple salsa!
First time but wont be the last. Very cute place, outstanding service and delicious food. Fresh, fast and plentiful. Not your traditional 2 Egg, meat and toast plain Jane breakfast.
The best breakfast ever. I've eaten here quite a few times and have never been disappointed!
I think this is the best breakfast I've ever had! I had the Benito (variant of eggs benedict) and the cinnamon roll was out of this world!
We stop here every time we venture up north. Great atmosphere, delicious food and coffee, friendly staff, always offer coffee to go......it’s a very nice place to eat!
We take all of our guests to Morning Star for brunch to enjoy the fresh and tasty food! We LOVE the local vibe as well as the friendly, attentive service. The fact they are ALWAYS busy is a nod to their consistency! If it's a nice day, put your name on the list and take a short walk around our charming town! You rarely wait longer than 15 minutes and it's worth it!!😁
With a short wait about 10-15 min for a table, we were greeted by a very personable server, had a very tasty breakfast and my husband got a coffee to go. Seems to be a common occurrence, since they have a line up of to go cups on a shelf. Very cute atmosphere.
Amazing food, service, and atmosphere. A little cramped but we didn’t mind! We had a party of 8 so we had to wait about 45 minutes to get seated but it was a Sunday morning around 11 so that’s to be expected! They use a digital waitlist so you can easily go check out nearby shops while you wait for their text. I was pleasantly surprised to find out they had real half and half available for coffee (I hate creamer cups full of preservatives). The South Tuscan Scramble was to die for! Highly recommend fitting a Morning Star breakfast into your Grand Haven trip!
I don’t have many words to say, simply that this establishment had the best french toast I’ve ever had in my entire life. You can tell the cooks put their heart and soul into each dish and it shows in more than just the presentation but also the flavor, worth every penny you spend.
Must try restaurant for breakfast. Get there before 7 to avoid a wait.
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
Service was fantastic, food was awesome and prices reflected quality and portion sizes.
Food was fresh, service was great and will definitely come back again. Highly recommend everyone give this place a try.
I can't say enough good things about our experience at Morning Star Cafe this morning. The price was right, the portions were just right, and the flavor was incredible! We will probably be making this our go to breakfast spot from now on. I got the Tucson Scramble and a Banana Crepe and it was to die for!
This place does it right. Delicious food, great coffee, and their service is fast and friendly.
I got the Morning Star Muffin, the caramel cream dark roast, and their famous cinnamon roll. The Morning Star Muffin had a perfectly cooked sausage patty, a jammy over-medium egg, and cheddar cheese. Delicious- had with ketchup. The cinnamon roll was brought out warm with cream cheese icing- also delicious. The staff are friendly, knowledgeable, and show great care for your dining experience. In the past, I have also had their cinnamon blueberry smoothie and it was divine- it made me fall in love with that flavor combination!
Can’t recommend small restaurants who do it right just like this one enough.
A decent breakfast and price. Interesting unique items on the menu. Love that they leave you a crate of water and a charge of coffee in the table so you don’t have to wait for a refill! Not too thrilled with the turkey breakfast sausage patty though. The Pavo Tocino omelette was absolutely delicious! Go check them out but know it’s going to be loud as it’s usually crowded.
Great breakfast spot in Grand Haven. Was busy but the staff worked hard to keep everything moving. Good food and good service!
Yum! I loved the variety that they offered on their breakfast menu, it's not often you can find so many spicy selections. The cinnamon roll was delectable, I'd highly recommend it. My only gripe was that I got my kids each a milk, which was about the size of a Dixie cup and cost $3.50 each.
I came to have some hot water and dessert.
I was served in beautiful kettle and with lemon.
Being a chocolate lover ,the chocolate therapy dessert was well layered with Gamache, chocolate cake and cheesecake with side of strawberry jam. This was amazing combination and I highly recommend for chocolate lovers to try it out.
Overall pretty good. Food is unique and tasty, same with the coffee. The only issue is wait time. Not a lot of space indoors. They own the building next door but don't use it for more seating which is confusing to me. If you plan to dine here (especially in the summer) I would try to get there by 8am or you will be waiting over an hour for a table. Once you're seated the service and food is quick though.
This was an amazing experience. Grand Haven's best breakfast. Friendly staff, amazing food and great prices. Dont leave without one of their desserts. Bailey was an amazing waitress. We can't say enough about this place
Morning Star Cafe is a cozy, Southwest US themed Cafe with a varied assortment of breakfast and lunch items ranging from eggs to tacos. Overall, the food is great, good service, and I now consider as one of my favorites! Bonus for locally sourced ingredients (breads and muffins) and in-house made chorizo! One gripe: The fruit bowl is the weakest link, I recommend another side over what you can get at most gas stations.
Say "yes" to the cinnamon roll! If you're willing to take on the extra calories, it's absolutely worth it!
Note: If you like spicy and request a spicy sounding item like the four corners omlette, do yourself a favor and ask for extra peppers when they cook it. The Habenero cheese is delicious but not at all spicy!
Morning Star serves breakfast and lunch and is a great choice for either. We went for breakfast and had stuffed French toast with raspberry sauce, pumpkin pancakes, and one of their signature egg dishes and is was good as usual.
I’ve been here twice and the service was tremendous both times. The first time my party had to get the food to go and my order got forgotten. The second time another customer told my table we were being loud in a room full of loud people. Over all, great food and great service with a very loud atmosphere.
Morningstar has always been my local favorite breakfast stop. It’s nice to go on a weekday and avoid the weekend rush. Plan for a wait on weekends, but it’s nice they do a ‘virtual’ wait list where you can walk around a bit and pass the time waiting for your text that your table is available.
Their menu has Southwestern options in addition to your usual breakfast fare. I’ve always found my meal to be fresh and tasty. I like seeing what new stuff they come up with for specials each day. Also, the coffee… always so good.
Check it out! We always take out of town family who want to go out for breakfast. Never disappoints.
This sweet lil spot nailed it. Went in for dessert a little too close to close (unknowingly) and was still treated at least as sweet as the mocha java crème brûlée. Yum. The berry crepes were delicious as well. Looking forward to the next time. Thanks!
Went here last year when I was in town for a work event and am here again for the same event and thought I'd give them a 5⭐️ review for being awesome. I had the Oatmeal Cakes and I will have the Oatmeal Cakes again because they were so good and I cannot wait to have them again. My server was attentive (don't remember his name now) but I think he was alone and he handled the dining room well and didn't make anyone wait long for service. Coffee was delicious as well. 👏👏👏
Always delightful! A large glass of fresh squeezed OJ really is a large glass! The Jeffrey Benedict (poached eggs on avocado and bacon muffins smothered in hollandaise sauce) and served with a side of fresh fruit is so delicious! Herbal tea was a nice finish to the meal. This is my favorite spot to treat out of town guests to lunch. They never fail to love the wide array of homemade choices!
From Lansing, would drive to grand haven in a heartbeat for an awesome breakfast at Morning Star Cafe. Some Mexican inspiration offers delicious options along with so many other unique dishes. Great coffee.
Busy on weekends, worth it. Order a coffee while you wait for a table and enjoy a beautiful morning!
