My favorite sushi place. My favorite roll is the playboy. Amazing pizza, wish they would make a 16inch. I would recommend JU to anyone.
Our favorite restaurant for date night, consistently high quality fresh seafood, artfully prepared and served by friendly and efficient service staff. They need to invent a new roll celebrating being in the top ten restaurants in the city.
The service is always great. The place is super clean. You're gonna pull up and be like, "wait this place is in a strip mall?" And the answer? "Yeah, all the best Asian food is in strip malls!" The food cannot be beat. If you like Japanese food; sushi, sake, etc. then you truly must visit this place. The playboy roll is incredible. The crab Rangoon is outstanding, and the sake options are numerous. There is American style seating or traditional, although I'd encourage you to sit up at the bar where you can see the sushi masters at work. Go. Just go. You'll be very pleased that you have.
8 people in our party celebrating high school graduations...sushi rolls were amazing (loved the playboy). Lots of flavor in the food. Our server, Lucy, was pleasant and professional. She checked on us often and accommodated our requests. A relaxing, comfortable atmosphere. A high five rating!
Hands down our favorite sushi place! We discovered this restaurant in early December when we picked up some take out to take back to our hotel room. It was so delicious we returned the next day for lunch! We planned a shopping trip around stopping for more today! Service has always been great, sushi is perfect, drinks are nice and cold. Can’t say enough good things! We will be back!

I have previously worked at a sushi restaurant in East Lansing for 2 years. JU has the best fresh sushi in town! There service is prompt and the food always comes out in a timely manor. JU Sushi is a great establishment for lunch or dinner!
I was impressed. I want to start with the ambiance. Very classy and upscale. The price for the amount of food you get was a little high but not enough to make an issue about because the sushi was amazing. That, I was impressed with. We had a few drinks. I’m not much of a drinker so for me to judge this would be wrong. I wasn’t impressed with the 2 drinks I had but as I said, I can’t judge that. Who I was with loved her drinks.
Thought the food was amazing, our server was really nice even gave our 3yr old grandson a pair of practice chopsticks we were in for lunch not busy or crowded, next time in town will definitely come here again

We moved to GR one year ago and JU Sushi is the best Japanese place we have tried yet! The fiancé loves their sushi and I love the hibachi myself. I love how you order the meat, veggies, and rice separately. It's perfect for those picky eaters and saves money for those who don't want the vegetables!
The food is delicious and the service is top notch! We will definitely be back.
Really love the atmosphere of the place discovered it with a friend came back literally two days after with my cousin. Kristin was our server/bartender both times and she is absolutely amazing! Also remembered mine and my daughters name too. Will definitely be a regular as long as we get Kristin every time �
What a great experience. I was working out of town a couple days and didn't get a chance to eat for a day. I was able to sneak in 30 minutes to stop somewhere (a client recommended this place). I stopped in and let the bartender know I was in a hurry, asking what they had that could be made quickly and she made some recommendations. The dish was amazing, a good amount of food, and it came out quickly. The server actually made a point to get me my bill right away so I could dine and dash. Will definitely be back!
Pretty good sushi. Squid was a bit more rubbery than I like it, and the rice wasn't very good at sticking together. Atmosphere is great, dim lighting that encourages conversation, acoustics that help it stay quiet, and there's a fair amount of space between tables. The servers are chill and helpful. Would recommend for a relaxing sushi outing.

I have dinner here quite a few times and also ordered their food through delivery services.
I've never been disappointed with anything I've ordered here.
They offer lounge-type dining on the left side of the restaurant, and traditional dining on the right.
I would only use the lounge side for more relaxed social dining. The space is nice but all the lounge tables are shorter than the chairs and couches. There is plenty of space on either side for group dining. In the middle to the left, they have a typical bar area and to the right, they have a bar area that can observe some of the chefs making rolls.
The atmosphere feels fancy and upscale until you are seated and take a second to look around.
The only issue I have with this place is most of their pleather/faux leather seating desperately needs to be reupholstered and the walls either cleaned or repainted in areas with stains. Many seats have material peeling, flaking, or flat-out missing.
The place itself though, is very clean and the food is so amazing.
I've eaten here many times and it's always delicious.
I've had dinner here in large groups down to dining alone and I've never had any issues. Service has always been excellent as well, speedy and precise.
Their Kani Kama Rangoons, Dumplings, and Chicken tempura are all great starters. I've enjoyed the dumplings most the last few times I've been in.
The Miso and Wonton Soups they make are both very good. The rich flavors are not too salty too. Making this a big-time comfort food for me.
I've had many of their classic and specialty rolls. My favorite recently is the Vegas Roll. It is coated in panko and then deep-fried. Making the outside delightfully crunchy and the insides rich and creamy.
I've been told the Sirloin and Chicken Teriyaki entrées were both very good by my guests.
My friends and family all love this as our go-to sushi place when they are visiting me. The excellent food and great service keep me coming back.
Overall, I'd highly recommend JU for your lunch or dinner.
The edamame was well cooked. The crab Rangoon was nicely seasoned and creamy, the drink was nice and fruity, the 3 rolls we got were nicely prepared. Everything was great!

We are sushi newbies and wanted to explore. Reservations were easy to make. The food didn’t take long and the timing between was well done. Our server was very helpful ( I didn’t get her name 👎🏻) We tried 3 different sushi options. 1. Jumbo Spider 2. Flying Japan 3. Fire Mountain (which came in flames!!) It was all so good! We had the Bacon Shrimp for an appetizer! Highly recommend this place and will most definitely go again!
A nice place to eat and lounge! Staff were great and food was good. It is cool to be able to watch the sushi chefs making the sushi 🍣 This was our 1st time eating at JU Sushi and we enjoyed our time.
First of all.. When you 1st pull up it's impressive to look at, decorated beautifully throughout the building including the bathrooms which offer mouthwash. The food was delicious. Dumplings 🥟 were amazing, the BEST sauce I ever had! The volcano 2 and playboy were yummy and the red bean and green tea mochi were just delightful. All that just 45 bucks! Would definitely recommend. Men being your date here to impress her.
Extremely good sushi dining! Atmosphere was light, traditional, and comfortable. All food and service was exceptional. Party tried sushi rolls (so fresh), shrimp salad, and the teriyaki salmon. Everything was prepared as requested, all fresh ingredients, and beautiful presentation!! Would definitely go back to try more items on the menu.
Amazing! Wife took me here as she has been trying to get me into liking sushi. Prices are a bit higher than other places but you get what you pay for. Still trying to enjoy sushi but overall the food was amazing! The place itself is super chill.
The service was great, the quality of food is top stuff, very clean. Their alcoholic drinks were strong which is what pushed me to give them 5 stars. It’s a great place to bring your date or for a special occasion. I recommend getting the Playboy Sushi entree which brings a dining experience of my attached video. The Gacia and Sakura drinks were great. Definitely get the tempura ice cream for desert it was delicious.
Great place!! Stoped in for lunch and loved the sushi. Pick 3 rolls for $13, pretty fair for the high quality. Service was prompt even at the start of the lunch shift. Wish I lived close, I would deffintly come back

Although I don't care for sushi the family members enjoy their Sushi meal I had the ribeye Teriyaki which was good but I wanted it medium rare and it was overcooked but all in all the experience was exceptional and I appreciate the wait staff did such an excellent job in knowing what they were describing as for the various plates they served us so I give it a four-star and my family would eat there again.
Great sushi and atmosphere. The sushi was very tasty, the nigiri was super fresh, the specialty rolls were amazing. Got right in, though we called ahead and the food came quickly. Would definitely recommend if you like sushi. Standard sushi price but well above standard sushi!
My top pick for sushi in grand rapids, they are on the pricy side but certainly worth a visit. The playboy roll is a perfect balance and gets my vote for best roll in GR
