First time trying this place and it was a great experience! We ordered app sampler, garlic eggplants, egg foo young, and garlic & shrimp. My favorite was the eggplant, it was my first time trying it and we loved it. Everything was delicious and the portions were good too. Prices were not bad either, very reasonable. Pretty quick service and server boxed our leftovers, which was a nice gesture. I’m planning to come back to try more dishes! Yum!
WOW! I'm so happy to have some great authentic Chinese food in town. I just ate here for dinner for the first time today, and will definitely be back.
The atmosphere is cute, comfortable, and clean. Service was friendly and competent. Food was fresh, flavorful, and reasonably priced. The back side of the menu is where it's at if you are looking to try something unique. The braised eggplant in soy was my favorite, but all the dishes we had were amazing! The spice level was great, and although prominent- didn't overpower the other flavors.
I am genuinely excited to come back again soon and try some new things. I also suspect the classic American-Chinese dishes are pretty good, but I can't vouch for that yet.
THANK YOU SO MUCH for choosing to incorporate authentic dishes on your menu, and for executing them so well. You are on the other side of town from me but I'll be back again soon. Best wishes for your continued success!
The best authentic Chinese food in GR. We went here for the first time today and were very pleased with the quality of the food. My husband is from Sichuan so we have high standards for fresh, authentic Chinese food and My Kitchen exceeded expectations. We got the cumin lamb, the eggplant in garlic sauce, and the pickled fish soup and all three were flavorful, fresh, and delicious. Our two-year-old loved it too!
They could improve on a couple of points - it lessened the experience a bit to eat off of styrofoam plate - but the owners are new and are still trying to establish themselves. Service was friendly and the restaurant was clean. We will definitely go back and bring family and friends.
If you want Americanized Chinese takeout - go somewhere else. There are so many inauthentic places. But this is the only authentic Sichuan restaurant in GR and I really hope they succeed!
Wonderful authentic Sichuan just the right amount of spice, served family style so you can share with others and try more than one dish. Had dished have not seen available since being over seas.
I was looking for a Chinese restaurant that I haven't ate at before and chose My Kitchen 1 due to Google reviews and it didn't disappoint. Was greeted and seated as soon as I walked in. I ordered General Tso chicken and it was prepared fast, hot and delicious! The flavor was on point with perfect spice /heat level. Greeter / server lady was very friendly and attentive. I would highly recommend this place for tasty freshly made food. I certainly plan on returning to try more dishes!
Hands down, best Chinese food I’ve had anywhere in town. The Chinese dishes are yummy and what you’d expect to find, but the Szechuan side of the menu is what’s going to keep me coming back. So much flavor and variety. Do yourself a favor and try the sliced beef in hot chili oil.
I’ve been looking for a Chinese restaurant that can make some good mapo tofu for a long time. The first time I had it was when I was in Kalamazoo for college and ever since I moved back home in GR I could not find a Chinese restaurant that could make a mapo tofu the same as my first experience.
Until now when my friend recommended me this place that has authentic Chinese food. I’ve lived in the GR/Wyoming area my whole life and I can’t believe I’ve never been here. The mapo tofu was so good, brought me back to my first experience.
Ever since then I’ve ordered other dishes and they all do not disappoint. This will be my go to place for Chinese food.
To begin with, we are an Asian family that has eaten in Chinese restaurants in China, Hong Kong, Bangkok, Manila, many European capitals and every Chinatown in the US. This is a very unusual US - Chinese restaurant. Why? Because it prepares Chinese food in the Chinese way - with a blend of strong spices and without the cups of sweet, cloying sauces that have come to dominate US Chinese dishes. We stumbled upon this place last week by chance and were quite astonished by the food. We ordered egg foo young, lamb with cumin, eggplant with garlic sauce, dry pot duck with pepper, and Singapore stir fried rice noodles. Each dish was uniquely spiced and delicious - deeply satisfying. The menu is extensive and includes many dishes not ordinarily found in the US. The cooking is not refined and can seem a little rough and may take a little time to get used to, but this experience is quickly overridden by the flavors.
Being from NYC we have the best hole in the wall Chinese restaurants ever. Saint Louis Missouri in some areas are just as good if not better. I took a big risk and I'm glad I did. The lady was very kind. I judge the basics first like chicken wings egg rolls pork fried rice. If that can't be done right the chicken wings old stale decomposed tasting, then no reason to return. However this place here had me eating beyond the point of being full. Everything I ordered was absolutely great! I'm definitely going back to try other things on the menu. My plan is to visit China as well I'd love to compare their native dishes using USA ingredients to safer natural ingredients used to China. They have created a devoted customer. I recommend as many as possible to try it out. Wheeler accessible and a good amount of parking included.
I got takeout from My Kitchen and loved it. The veggie spring rolls tasted fresh and this has so far been the only place that had mapo tofu with actual sichuan peppercorns. Really impressed with the choices here!
This is not your typical Chinese restaurant. If you want Authentic Szechuan cuisine look no further. This gem has some classic dishes like Beef tripe with hot pepper sauce, Fish filet in hot chili oil, Ma Po tofu, Lamb with cumin, Stir-fried spicy pot that will be a spicy feast to your taste buds. You may have to wait for your food as everything is cooked to order, but the food was definitely worth the wait.
Both available: Chinese Sichuan dishes and American Chinese dishes.
Got too excited and started eating before taking a photo:
(melt-in-your-mouth) Pork belly with preserved vegetable, dry pot pork intestine w chilies (good numbing spice level), beef brisket noodle soup (super tender), and eggplant with potatoes
The food is ALWAYS incredible here. I don't know how they stay in business with how large the portions are. The atmosphere is what you'd expect, unlike the prices. They make a mean Hunan. Staff is friendly enough and attentive.
11/10 will recommend and return
Wonderful. The lunch special is lovely. You get an egg roll and soup with your entree. The hot and sour is super good and spicy. Can’t wait to come back!
The food was amazing. My favorite was beef cumin and fish with pickled mustard. My children also enjoy the noodles and the potstickers. The waitress was very nice and helpful. Will definitely go again.
Best Chinese food I've had in GR by far; Sichuan specialties are particularly good. The cauliflower with peppers is terrific, and so is the dry-pot chicken.
