Reviews Russ' Restaurant

I’m going to be honest—I waited almost 5 minutes to be seated because it looked understaffed. Having driven over 6 hits to come home, I really wanted Russ’s home style country cooking. I had the turkey dinner after a cup of chicken rice soup. All of the food was prepared nicely, fresh, and hot. The pace of the dining experience was almost perfect. My server Alana didn’t use the same standard “ cookie cutter” questions like how’s your food, are you liking your food, etc. she actually asked me if the first few bites of my food were pleasing to me! OUTSTANDING! The hostess Olivia was interacting with little children and making them comfortable. This is by far the most positive experience in a restaurant in almost 10 years— and I managed restaurants and groups of restaurant as a District Manager for 41 years. This is truly amazing and highly recommended.

I love this restaurant because it hasn't changed in the 25 years I've been going there. The menu is almost the exact same, the atmosphere and quality service haven't changed, and even the prices aren't that much different (compared with everything else these days). This place always feels like home and the people who go there are like family. It's a community stable and you're sure to feel connected when you visit, as well!

All the throw-backs to a classic diner of yesteryear! Great decor, friendly staff, and the food was fresh and delicious. Our visit on Plainfield was pleasant and unassuming. My wife and I both ordered the soup and salad buffet, which was fresh, clean, and very tasty! The room itself was reminiscent of a 1950's diner, with hard-leather seating and throw-back advertising, which was really kind-of cool! The food was good and the pricing was right. All good. You could tell there were a good amount of "regulars" there, as the staff knew them by name, so I felt a little put-off by being "new," but I get it. Family-friendly, good prices, and very wholesome. A winner in my book!

I go to Russ's fairly often because I love their food. For breakfast I always get a western omelette, cuz they're omelets are the best. For lunch or dinner I always have the reuben. Apparently I'm not a creature for change LOL. But when you know it's going to be great why not have the same things ;) the staff is always very friendly, the atmosphere is nice, they have a fireplace and it's always clean.

If you wish not to cook or go to a fast food place this isn't to bad. You know prices are going up. This place is good to go to for just a kick back meal. I think you will like it. Enjoy!

Wed night supper. Pretty good. AYCE fish is what I had. Pretty tasty, but a lot of batter and some thick and some thin pieces of fish...Pretty typical. Only 13.99 which was a good price. My wife had fried clams. Not overcooked and rubbery at all. They were pretty good. It was also kids eat for $4 so it was a little busy and a little noisy. Still decent service though despite being busy.

It's always nice coming here with my parents or people of the older generation since they love that homestyle cooking and low-key vibe. The waitresses are always so nice and accommodating and the prices have changed noticeably to the portion size during the last couple of years. The soup and salad bar is my go-to for its value and comfortable taste.

I go there quite frequently for breakfast the staff is very friendly I enjoy seeing them in the morning good place for breakfast the manager Casey goes out of his way to ask how you're doing in the mornings as well as how was your meal I appreciate that! The morning waitress Shelly is always very friendly with a smile on her face, always ask how I'm doing and seems generally interested in my replies. I always ask to sit in her section because of her her good-nature and smiles in the morning. She's a very good waitress!
