This is a great place to grab drinks and a bite to eat with friends. The falafel was amazing and so was the drink I tried (I don't remember which one I got). Parking can be a little tricky. There are a few spots just behind the building, but otherwise you will have to find street parking. Everything was good but a little on the pricey side.

Came in at dinnertime on a Saturday (6:30), and seating was plentiful. Lots of street parking available. Menu was full of vegan and vegetarian options. We tried the Vegan Nachos (they are technically an appetizer even though it is more than enough food to be considered a main-course!) As well as the Vegan Mac and Penne Vodka. Waiting staff was very friendly as well, and the Bloody Mary's and Pineapple-Mango Adult Slushies were delicious. HIGHLY recommended. We will be coming again.

I visited this place in Friday night and it was busy, the service was good but they seem to be struggling with staff. We reserved at the rooftop which was nice but not the greatest view. What matters, the food was very good I ordered a short rib rigatoni, deli! From the cocktails I got the Frosé very refreshing for summer 🙂. In general good experience.

Went for a private holiday party for my work crew. The kimchi ribs were incredible and the charcuterie board was full of delicious, high-quality meats and cheeses. The atmosphere is classy, and there is a variety of seating and you can easily move around. I came from out of town, on the east side of the state newer Detroit. Everything from the drinks, service, and food was top notch! Looking forward to coming back.

Nice little place. Food was good but on the pricey side. We did get a generous portion though. Quiet, nice decor and clean. Definitely worth a visit, and don't hesitate to try the French Dip! Update 2023: Visited for brunch today and it was excellent! Both the Corned Beef Hash and Breakfast Burrito were delicious. The bottle of bubbles is reasonably priced as well.

Our server who seemed to be the only one working today was phenomenal!!! Our table was able to bond over Detroit/Toledo! He held the whole restaurant down. His food recommendations were top notch. Couldn’t ask for a better brunch

The outdoor patio was impressively upscale and warm! We had a great time and were extremely happy with the food. Everything was spiced well and served beautifully. It’s definitely in a spot of GR I haven’t ventured much before, but may be the place that brings me over more regularly.

Stopped in for lunch. Had their Creole Tomato Bisque and a grilled cheese, very good, soup was a little spicy for me but delicious. Serving size was adequate, a little on the smaller side, service was exceptional. Plenty of space, good parking options. Definitely worth checking out.

Their pasta is so, so, so good!!!! Their tacos too! This place has great vegan/vegetarian options for my husband, and meat for this lady! The chef deserves an award for the sauce he uses for their pasta! So good! The only thing we are not impressed with were cocktails. But we were driving so we couldn’t taste more than 1 every time. So far, we loved the food and ended up just getting regular coke to drink!

Really great gastro pub in the newly revitalized Michigan Avenue district of town. Their food has American rustic vibes with lots of spruce and interesting takes on classics. I went with my wife and friends and everyone was very pleased with their meals. The potato wedges were RIDICULOUS and that black pepper aoli was to die for. Top notch cocktails that were unique and took a spin on some classics. They offer plenty of options for those with dietary restrictions, too. Get to this place! It is cozy, posh, and has super friendly employees.

My daughter and I were recently in the neighborhood, and I've wanted to try The Friesian for a while, so we stopped in for a late lunch. My daughter had the vegan skillet mac and cheese, and I had the curry tomato soup with a grilled cheese. Neither my daughter nor I could believe the mac and cheese was vegan because it tasted so good! It was lighter than dairy mac and cheese, which my daughter appreciated. My soup was excellent! The curry gave it a mild bite, but it wasn't overwhelming. It complemented the soup well. The sandwich was served on sourdough bread, and the combo of soup and sandwich was amazing! They have additional dishes for vegetarians, vegans, and carnivores, so we will be back!

Went here yesterday with some friends and had a great time. Definitely recommend a reservation on the weekends because it was busy. Great cocktail selection. I had the GR 75 and it was delicious. We ordered the homemade chips and the Thai corn dip as an appetizer and it was so tasty. Had the pork spare ribs as an entree and the portions were very generous. Only complaint is parking is not super convenient and had to circle the block a bit but everything else was quite good. Our server was nice and gave recommendations when we asked.

Super cute outside seating. They had a TON of gluten free options. We got the fondue fries and wings. Both were amazing. This place is quiet enough for a date night, or big enough for large group seating.

Had dinner with friends here last night . Sat in the covered area in the back…it was lovely. Great food and our server Mac was excellent. We will be back soon . The carrot cake is amazing as well .

Nice and interesting atmosphere. The food will taste very salty if you use other seasonings along with salt when you cook. The wait staff are great! They wear masks which makes us feel safe. (we've been vaccinated and yet we can still pick up and carry and spread the virus to others if we don't wear masks). I don't understand why Michigan doesn't require proof of vaccination to dine indoors like we have to do when we done in in New York!

Friesian Gastro Pub (my last name is Friesian) is one of those rare, amazing restaurants where you don’t know if you hate to love them or love to hate them because everything about it was so good you don’t know what to order and you’re afraid it’s too good to be true and might go away. But there’s worse problems to have! Our server was super friendly and appropriately attentive and really helped us choose the best of the best. My brother-in-law had the pork belly ramen with added tiger shrimp and I’m sure if I tried to sneak a bite I would have gotten stabbed with his chop sticks. I ended up going for the pork ribs but was actually the cut of meat just outside the rib. I’ve butchered a lot of game and whoever cut this piece has my respect including just a thin slice of the fat. Out of principle I have to find something to criticize, therefore; the truffle potatoes, which were awesome, had no detectable truffle flavor and you need to add more of the truffle oil. Oh, and the serving size was way too big. My sister had the carbonara (with added shrimp) and I’d switch the pasta to spaghetti vs the capellini with its higher starch content. Too bad I live in Seattle or I’d be back soon.

Elevated yet laid back environment. Great place to grab dinner & drink. Their cocktails were very tasty. The Brussels sprouts appetizer was very flavorful. However I got Bolognese as my entree and it was good but Lacking of a few things. Pasta was over cooked , and I feel like the sauce could have been more flavorful without straying from traditional bolognese. Understanding it probably wasn’t one of their staple dishes, but definitely could use some refinement! Excited to come back and try some of their sandwiches on the menu, I’ve heard good things!
