I was visiting family in Nevada City and we were trying to figure what to have for dinner. I randomly found Diego’s using Google Maps. Since nobody had eaten there before we checked out the menu and everyone agreed it sounded good.
I had the shrimp enchiladas and I can honestly say that they were probably the best enchiladas that I have had in the past 10 years. The sauce was super tasty with a hint of spicy and the shrimp were perfectly cooked. The rice and beans and grilled veggies were a perfect combo. Everyone else got the tacos and the portobello plate. Suffice to say that everyone was quite satisfied with their meals.
I’m from the Bay Area and we have some pretty amazing Mexican/Latin food, so I was not expecting to have such good food in Grass Valley.
I would definitely recommend Diego’s to anyone living in Grass Valley or passing through. They have outdoor seating and a cool funky vibe/decor. Next time I will have to try their desserts!
Bring your appetite! Big portions and great food! Cozy environment and warm atmosphere. Beat the rush and sit down before 6. The stuffed jalapeños and Panqueque are fantastic.
Clearly a lot of love goes into creating the homey, artful atmosphere and the inspired Latin American cuisine, with ingredients sourced from local organic farmers. I enjoyed the live music, too!
I love it here! Been twice. The ONLY suggestion I would make is to have the Chilean state salad on the menu... its so good! The food here is amazing 😍
From the moment we walked in we were greeted lovingly and treated so well. We sat outside and the woman who seated us offered us blankets, brought my sons toys and treated us like we were family. I could have just been happy with that but to top it off the food was absolutely incredible. Everything was fresh and you can taste the quality. I could go on and on about how much I love Diego’s. It feels like home and the vibe was so beautiful there. I love you Diego’s!
Amazing Chilean food with unexpected flavor profiles. I had the Santiago sampler, and the pupusas and stuffed jalepenos were delicious. I also had an a la cart enchilada and it was amazing. Their Paloma’s? Devine. The service was excellent, the waitress on Saturday (blonde woman in her 40’s) was super attentive. They even had patio seating so my puppy could sit under my table while I ate. One of the best restaurants in grass valley by far.
Sat outside and even though it was cold, the patio area was comfortably warm, especially after the waitress had blankets they brought out to put on my lap and kept me comfortably warm. Shrimp appetizer was delicious, the chicken tacos I had were as well, and the donut whole sized bread balls they bring out with a cilantro lime sauce kicked them off. A lot of distinct flavors that I enjoyed to switch up from the same boring foods on my palette.
I stopped here for a quick meal and instead I wind up hanging around for quite a while because even though the food was good I found myself going to the bathroom. This tells me that the food is rich in something that I cannot eat and somebody else can. Don't let my review this way to you from going I just don't have a good stomach when food is not made the way I prefer. It is a nice little place there is outside seating an indoor seating. It was such a nice day I chose to sit outside instead and it was worth it to just sit there and then take my time.
