Good. Not great. Pretty interesting atmosphere with all the dad jokes everywhere. Clean. Timely. The service was great, but there was nothing spectacular about the meal. My fish was good but my hush puppies were sub par. My friend had shrimp and grits, which i tried a bit of - pretty good. Now the peach cobbler was to die for. I am glad i tried it, but probably wouldn't go back.
Only waited about 20 minutes on Mothers day , arrived at 2 though. Then it took an hour to get our food, because the kitchen was so backed up. The portions are huge and tasty. Though the glasses are only medium sized. Our waitress, was kind & friendly despite the large continual crowd . The bacon wrapped shrimp was better than the fried, but definitely undercooked. Hushpuppies large and crispy but not sweet or spicy just neutral. Bread pudding was complimentary and was a nice buttery, lightly spiced, warm dessert. Nice , clean atmosphere with employees who were actually hopping to do their job well. The signs alone, that decorate the walls are worth a stop by. Price about 20% less than comparable restaurants at the beach, for seafood. Crab claw price $28.99. Seafood baskets come with fries or slaw. Key lime is available. Located just off I-65 South bound side.
I saw the billboard on the interstateo my way home from my vacation. I called ahead and was able to bring my small 15 lb dog. We were placed on the outdoor patio which was totally good with me. Service was not impressive. I waited 13 minutes before someone acknowledged me. Then a few minutes longer to finally have a server arrive. I think his name was Alex he was very polite. I ordered a half a dozen of oysters and grilled fish tacos. I personally liked the grilled fish tacos.I purchased a to go key lime pie per the Google reviews suggestions. Unfortunately, after opening the to go bag several hours down the road there was no fork or spoon or napkin. That did not sit well with me. I also was not impressed with the key lime pie. But everyone's opinions of meals and desserts are different and I do take that in consideration. I would stop again at this place when traveling through to give it another shot.
We had a nice Lunch stop while traveling back from our Florida vacation. The food was very good. The server was very friendly we also had Great service also.
A great time shared with family!! I experienced oysters in 2 different ways: Raw and Rockefeller and they were delicious!!! The fried green tomatoes were cooked to perfection. The drinks and customer service were on point!! I will return again!!!
This is a great halfway stop from Mobile to Birmingam. I have been here a couple times and appreciate them being available. I have been disappointed with the food the last couple times. It is still good but just not anything special anymore. Raw oysters were good but just kinda thrown on the plate. Fried seafood platter was good but slightly over cooked and crab cakes tasted like the were previously frozen. I am sounding harsh but when you pay over $100 for three people to eat it should be special. I only took away one star because service was good and again the food not to bad.
This was our first experience with Wintzell's, it was a good one, large portions of food for the price. They also have a wide variety of selections from the menu. All with fast friendly service.
Good food. Great service. Enjoyed our time there. The walls can keep you entertained for hours.
