Review Earthen Restaurant - Hacienda Heights

Decent Taiwanese food in Hacienda Heights area. I understand this is a go to Taiwanese restaurant for the locals. I too like their food. We ordered 3 dishes that included egg plant, pot stickers, and a mushu pork. The first twos were very tasty and flavorful, but the mushu pork was a bit bland with no taste. Normally this dish should have plenty of hoisin sauce but it seemed like they were very stingy on the sauce. Besides the above three dishes, the restaurant seems to offer many popular Taiwanese food. So if you have a craving for Taiwanese food, this is a place that should be able to satisfy you needs. The reason I gave this a three stars because the service is terrible. The two girls there were very rude. Our patronage was seen as an inconvenience for them. When we asked for the menu, they didn’t even acknowledge our existing, we were transparent to them. We felt ignored and humiliated. It took them a long time to produce our bill. I am not coming back for sure. We don’t need the abuse.

Okay so I’ve been coming here for 15 years and this place is THE BEST CHINESE FOOD YOU’LL FIND AROUND!! Seriously, mouth watering quality and it never disappoints. ALWAYS consistent flavor. NO wait times. GREAT for family/friend gatherings or by yourself. FRIENDLY STAFF. Highly recommend to anyone. Must-try dishes: bean curd with pork, green onion pancake.

Earthen has changed owners & from what I can tell, cooks. B4 Covid, I've always ordered the Sliced Chicken in Sichuan sauce & steamed rice. I went back and the plate was a bit bland with lots of oil in the 'sauce'. It was ok but overly oily. See pic. Note: Lunch specials are avail Mon - Fri.

Eating at Earthen Cafe was definitely an amazing experience! We decided to try out this new restaurant! Def worth the try! My family loved the beef wraps and the beef noodle soup. Both were packed with flavor! The portions were perfect to share with the fam and have extra to take home!

Whenever I'm in the Hacienda Heights area this is my go to restaurant. My must haves are the combination seafood noodle soup and green onion pancakes. I would also recommend their house chicken the sauce the chicken is drenched in is nice and tangy. Their jellyfish appetizer is also drenched in the same sauce.

One of our favorite Chinese spots!! We always get juicy pork dumplings, hot and sour soup, and green onion pancake. today we tried a new option, seafood noodle soup all delicious highly recommended

Great food always consistent one of the best Chinese restaurants in the region they have been around forever been eating here since my teens. Get the house chicken and pork pot stickers you won't regret it.

The food was excellent the service is great The restaurant is very clean. I highly recommend this place for Chinese food, Especially there Pan Friday Dumb things, Our main course was spicy noodle soup with seafood and vegetables I always get this item when I go there to eat it is so delicious higher recommended👍❤️👍 I give them a 5 star excellent food

Decent & Cheap Chinese. Solid eats but a bit too much salt over all for my palate. <br/><br/>the last time i was at earthen we ordered up: <br/><br/>- beef slices: this is the thinly sliced beef that has been braised for hours on end. this sure did whet my appetite <br/><br/>- hot and sour soup: decent soup but i had to add copious amounts of white pepper to kick it up a notch. <br/><br/>- tsou yiou bing: green onion pancakes. these we done very well, nice and crisp on the outside and soft on the inside. <br/><br/>- pork/cabbage dumpling: dense and flavorful filling but a bit too salty. <br/><br/>- fish/leek dumpling: these were the winners. they did not skimp on the fish and the salt use was muted which allowed for the true flavors to shine. <br/><br/>- san dong ji: i believe this is their signature chicken dish. very good i must say but a tad salty. however, when combined with the green onion pancake, the combo worked very well. <br/><br/>i want to head back some day to try their niu rou mien (beef noodle soup). <br/><br/>service is your typical apathetic chinese restaurant service. they take your order, slam the food down, slam the check down and usher you out the door to turn tables as quickly as possible. <br/><br/>be forewarned, if you come on a sunday after church....you will be waiting for a minimum 35+mins to be seated.

And good Chinese food, at that.  Another favorite of my SoCal inhabitants is Earthen, a Chinese restaurant known for their House Chicken [山東燒雞].  Since it was a large group of people and we had dinner "family style," I was fortunate enough to try quite a few of their dishes.

Los Angeles is full of Chinese restaurants. You got your bottom of the barrel $1.99 combo plate in Chinatown. You also got your "broke after dinner" places like Mr. Chow in Beverly Hills. Regardless, Chinese food is good. It's salty and oily (usually a good indication of something yummy. Earthen Restaurant located in Hacienda Heights, CA is the best of both worlds. Their menu has all of the making as the bottom of the barrel(ers), but does it in a clean and refined manner. We started off with the green onion pancakes. They were not too oily - crispy on the outside, nice and chewy on the inside. Putting some hot sauce or soy sauce on it made it a pretty good appetizer. For our main dish, we had the seafood noodle dish and the kung pao shrimp. The noodles had a bunch of different kinds of seafood on it - it almost had more seafood and toppings than noodles.
