Frida's Cafe is the kind of boutique hangout you would find in the Pilsen neighborhood of Chicago. It's worlds away from NW Indiana, and it's exciting to see it in the Hessville neighborhood of Hammond. The food and service is top notch. Well worth a visit for anyone traveling around the Region, but it's great for locals who want a frappe or a savory treat. With free wifi and amazing decor, I only wish they were open all week long. First time visitors may walk right past it (it's within Art Gallery building); the restroom is a bit away, but artfully finished. Hablan español and English with the female staff dressed up traditionally. If you love Frida's art, you will love this place.
This place is definitely a hidden gem. From the decor, to the music, to the food, you feel immersed as soon as you step on the door. Walked around their awesome gallery while waiting for the food to come. Menu is bistro style so mostly made up of tortas. Food was tasty. We got tamales, quesadilla, rice & beans and a horchata frappe. Frappe was good but started taking on a chalky taste as it melted but food was excellent especially that homemade salsa. Also bought a bunch of marsapan, and other candies before leaving.
The food really good and specially the mazapan frappe. The place was really calm relaxing and unique , really worth the visit!
Loved the atmosphere! It's eclectic Hispanic art, items are for sale. Large selection of Mexican candy. The drinks are amazing!!! Food menu sounded delicious but we didn't have time to eat.
Fantastic cafe! Great selection of coffee and Mexican sandwiches. Breathtaking art work every where. Great variety of items for sale to add to your collection or as gift items. Lila Downs music in the background. Culturally refreshing.
Such a lovely, cultural place. The food was delicious, the environment was quaint, and the staff were friendly. My only concern is their hours of operation. I live nearby, and would love to make this my morning coffee stop, but they don't open until late morning.
Loved the atmosphere which really is a tribute to Fridays Kahlo. The food was so delicious and I recommend the fraps. I had the horschata and my friend had the Nutella. It is a frozen drink, awesome for a hot day. You can purchase paintings here as well as other items. The service was friendly and the ambiance was just amazing! Come support this wonderful hidden gem!
Frida's is an unexpected gem. A friend of mine took me and I thought all of the art work was incredible. Excellent vibes at this place. I wasn't the biggest fan of the panini, but I would definitely still come back to try their other dishes.
