We came in on Saturday night and had the sweetest waitress. She said she was new but she was one of the best waitresses we’ve had on the island. The sushi we ordered was phenomenal! We ordered a crunchy shrimp which might be one of my favorite rolls I’ve ever tried. The flavors were spot on!! We had cocktails and enjoyed the view. I definitely recommend the coconut martini, it was refreshing and delicious.
Great food, great view and the service provided by Evans was great. My wife and I arrived at about 6:15 on a Wednesday evening and were seated immediately. 10 minutes later our order was in and first round of drinks were on the table. Service continued to be excellent and we had a great dinner. A little pricy as is everything on Kauai, but not outrageous either. Hopefully we will have a future vacation here on our favorite of the Hawaiian islands and will have dinner here again.
Was hesitant on going since seeing the most recent reviews.
However, my mom and I arrived and we were trying to wait for a table with a view. We sat at the bar and the bartender Stevan (I believe was his name) was so nice 10/10 customer service. He recommend a place where we could go and see a waterfall that wouldn’t be too strenuous on her because she has bad knees. He talked to us the whole time gave us recommendations. Needless to say we ended up sitting at the bar and eating. Highly recommend the coconut shrimp and the salmon was super good not dry at all. Unfortunately my moms ono was dry which is why I only gave 4 stars instead of 5.
Hope this helps anyone reading reviews and is hesitant on going. I would go back!
Had our last dinner in Kauai here and it didn’t disappoint. The atmosphere was very nice and the food was delicious. We had fish and chips and a rainbow roll. The fish was amazing, the fries were just ok. (We had originally tried to order the beyond burger, it’s on the menu but they no longer serve it). My sushi was very fresh and the ginger and wasabi were good. We didn’t have cocktails but they looked really good and they have sake as well. The only downside is the wait time, we didn’t have a reservation so put our name down and got called back around 30-40 min which was fine but then the food also took another 45 min. Service and staff were all really great.
We got the very last free table of the night and Aquila was the absolute best server!!! The sushi is fresh and delicious!!! Don’t skip the Grasshopper dessert too.
We have been on the island for four days and this was definitely the food highlight of the trips.
Our waitress, Jaden was incredibly friendly. So fantastic.
We ordered each of the five specialty sushi rolls and coconut shrimp. All were phenomenal. We ordered the Stay In Hanalei cocktail as well, very good.
Great views of the mountains side with waterfalls running down them. There was a warm breeze which was pleasant while we were seated next to the open windows.
We will definitely be back on our next trip to Kauai!
We ate here twice in three days. The food was great. The view of the mountain on this second story restaurant is amazing. The second time we came we were disappointed in how long it took them to serve our food. Took one hour which seems a little long. We were in this place for two hours!
Absolutely amazing restaurant! Our waitress, Jaiden (with a diphthong) was fantastic; exceptionally energetic and passionate! One of the things we ordered was a sushi roll, and the two guys working the sushi bar let me make it myself. Everyone was incredibly friendly, including the entire waitstaff, the sushi chefs, and the bartender. The food was outstanding as well. As a self-proclaimed pesto-aholic, the avocado pesto pasta was top-notch. Two people ordered the chicken and it was perfectly cooked and entirely delicious. The sushi was, of course, scrumptious, but I might be a bit biased there… 🙃 Overall this place was an 11/10, and the experience was a 15/10! We made some new friends out of the people there, and had a great start to our stay in Kauai. The Northside Grill is a MUST!
Me and my family went to this restaurant expecting nothing more than a restaurant experience, but was greatly surprised. Me and my sister were able to make our own sushi, while being instructed by the chefs. We also had the delight of Jaiden being our server, and introducing us to the whole staff (who were mostly all family members) She told us that they were closing (selling off) the restaurant tomorrow and we lucked out with the sushi. I thought that even though it will not be of much use that I should write a review capturing how special this experience was.
What a great meal and nice atmosphere for a dinner! I went here with my parents and brother. We ordered a sushi roll which was amazing. We also ordered all different types of fruity tropical drinks (good for vacationers looking to have a cocktail). We ordered the fish tacos, pesto linguine, buvette, and hanalei seafood dish- it was all very yummy. Service was great- the waitress was always nice and always came over right before we would need her. The restaurant is nice- there is a more modern feel to a Hawaiian decor and open windows facing a beautiful view. Great for a one on one date or a family dinner. Not sure if there is a kids menu, but children were there as well.
Food was great, had the coconut shrimp as a starter and it was wonderful. The sauce and mango salsa with it was the best! The other fantastic dish we had was the dessert, tempura banana. So yummy. Would love to go back and try their sushi.
We didn't realize the poke place would be closed so this was Plan B. Very glad we came in! Good food and our server was perfect. The chef special was a perfect misoyaki salmon -5 star dish!
The avocado pesto linguine was amazing and so was the sushi and shrimp. We loved the background and we could not stop saying look how beautiful this is. We would suggest for you to come here. It’s amazing and Aquila is an amazing server.
Edward and his family and crew are providing the best food (especially their sushi) on the North Shore. Good drinks and atmosphere add to the experience. Highly recommend this restaurant!
ABSOLUTELY RECOMMEND this restaurant to EVERYONE! Their menu is so diverse and delicious!! Aside from the meaty burgers, great pasta dishes...THE SUSHI IS OUTSTANDING!!! It’s so fresh! They also have a full bar and some unique, delicious cocktails. The service is extremely friendly as well! And as an added BONUS...THE VIEWS ARE EPIC!!! Rain or shine you have an unbelievable view of the waterfalls in the mountains of Hanalei. Definitely dine at this wonderful establishment while you’re on the island. Aloha!

Lots of options! Their menu has it all from sushi to pasta. You get to enjoy a beautiful view of the mountains while you eat in this indoor/outdoor space. The lighting by the windows is blue (as you can see in the photo). The staff is incredibly friendly.
Service and food was good. Stayed away from the Sushi because it seemed that's where reviews dropped. Food was fresh and tasty - pricing seemed in line with other north shore establishments.
