The sushi here is AMAZING! I always seem to get the same thing from the 'set menu'...sushi combo B, tuna. I wish I lived closer, so I could eat here at least once a week. The great thing is that I have Crohns (that's not great) and this NEVER makes me sick. If my hubby is in town, I'll call in a 'to go' order and he picks it up for me. THIS IS SOOOOO GOOD!!! :-)  The picture is of an AMAZING spicy noodle soup (and sushi, of course)!!

Hsien. A respectable establishment with the ambience befitting it. Quickly you can dicern it is privately owned, which I love. The fact that it is so quaint, and not your conventional "FAST SUSHI" makes it a diamond in the ruff . . . if you just want to gorge it's not for you, you'll pay for it somehow someday, you leave with more than a full stomach here :)

We are fortunate. My family and I have eaten Sushi all over the world and Sushi Jako, while having a somewhat limited menu, can compare favorably in taste and quality with the best of the best. The ingredients are fresh, the sushi rice is perfect, and they are remarkably consistent; we have eaten there a couple dozen times and it has always been excellent. The comment from the person who said supermarket sushi was better was laughable. Yes, it's a bit pricy, but still a good value when you consider what similar fare costs in major cities.

Best sushi in town. This place makes great sushi, small setup, good for a date or a quick lunch/dinner. the service is nice, and they act like they enjoy having you there, and that's what service should be. i totally recommend this place.

Best of the Best. Who would have ever thought Harrisonburg could sport such a fine sushi bar. It is the only place we go in the area for sushi, and it holds its own against the best we have tried in California and Toronto. The knife precision of the sushi chef is exquisite, the rice perfect. The ratio of fish to rice favors the fish. Happily, you won't find tons of "americanized" rolls here and offerings are limited....but that ensures only the freshest fish is used. His sauces are amazing and varied. Sit at the bar for pleasant conversation to be amazed by his skill.

By far my favorite place to get sushi in the area. Owners are very sweet and the menu is nice and varied. If you're tight on money, they offer the same meals at lunch as they do at dinner for a lesser price.

Great Place!. I went to Cafe Jako(i think they call it sushi jako now) a few days back, and let me tell you, it was great! It was quiet once I walked in but got super packed within minutes. Having had all of their sushi, which is top notch by the way, I decided to order something from the kitchen. I got what i think was a chicken rice bowl and boy was it comforting and good! Make sure you stop by this place if you have a chance!

-happy eating =) chris.

Yippee for Sushi in Harrisonburg!. So happy I'm singing - the meal was THAT good!

We stopped by on a Friday evening. Not very busy but the food and service were top notch. It is a Korean owned Sushi restaurant that has been at this location for 5 years (according to the Sushi Chef). They have all the standard sushi, sashimi and roll options that one expects with a few specials. The Chef made us something special with Salmon in a soybean paste with sesame leaves from his garden! They also offer some traditional Korean fish dishes and noodle bowls.

They offer beer and sake and there are six sushi bar seats. Small enough to be very intimate with the Chef and see your food prepared.

Our bill for two was $83 with one large beer, before tip. Worth every cent.

We will be back - OFTEN!

Best sushi in town! I always get the salmon lovers and it is amazing! One of my favorite meals on the planet! Giant pieces of delicious fresh fish. They seem understaffed so sometimes there is a bit of a wait but very well worth every minute.

This unassuming sushi restaurant is a real treat! Nestled in a shopping center, Sushi Jako has great decor and even better food. The fish and sashimi are fresh, the miso is smooth, and the salads are super tasty with a nice sesame dressing. Service can be a little slow, but that's only because they're working hard to make your food as tasty as possible! Recommended for locals and tourists alike!

The sushi is very good and the staff is extremely friendly. It's a very small restaurant and if the place is packed it's going to take a long time to get your food, there is only 1 chef. The food is worth the wait, but don't risk it if you're on a schedule (the movie theatre is next door, I was late to Morbius). They don't do fountain drinks, so either order tea or you're drinking coke out of a can. The house salad dressing is banging.

Great service! The food is amazing. Especially for the area. The chef speciality sushi is fantastic. The wait staff is polite and welcoming. Just expect a wait and be patient because there will be a a wait but it's worth it.

We are visiting and tried Sushi Jako because it was my son's birthday and he requested sushi and we were pleasantly surprised. The sushi was fresh, the rolls were creative and well executed, and the service was fantastic even though there were two people working and the place was packed.

Sashimi platter knocked my socks off. TWICE the variety that I got last week from another local place. Service was also fantastic. Will definitely be my only place for sushi in Harrisonburg

This is a small but good place to eat sushi. It was fresh, tasty and authentic. One of the good places to have sushi in town.
