I have never been so pleasantly surprised by gluten, and dairy free bakery goods. I also purchased the sugar free. I had a variety of 8 different foods and ate every last bite over the course of my 5 day vacation. (We found your bakery on line and you were our first stop) I did let my husband sample each variety and he too was very impressed. We live in Tampa Fl. and are sad to say we do not have any bakerys here like yours. Your bakery goods are absolutely AMAZING!!! I look forward to purchase from you again. Thank you!!!

My husband and I are both gluten free and knew part of our cake would need to be gluten free. We ended having By the Way make the cake for the entire wedding. Everyone couldn't believe the cake was gluten free and dairy free. Our only regret is not eating more of it on our wedding day . We cant wait to eat it for our 1 year anniversary

Amazing pastries and cakes, that are GI friendly to the lactose intolerant (dairy free) and ones having trouble with gluten, while delicious and enjoyable for everyone's mouths with decent portions but above average prices as expected for specialty foods. We have had there brownies, chocolate chip muffins, coconut almond chocolate cookies, the chocolate truffle cake and chocolate vanilla sponge cake. All of them were very good. The chocolate truffle cake is pretty enjoyable if you like dark chocolate. The icing on the sponge cake is not very smooth but that is common when you don't use dairy.

Exceptional gluten-free baked goods. Delicious with a great variety of options. We loved every pastry and you would never know they are gluten-free. Mom calls them “the best cupcakes ever”! Must visit and try these.

Super cute, small, gluten free and dairy free bakery with a couple of locations in NYC and one in Westchester. I've also seen their cake slices sold in Whole Foods in Manhattan. My favorites from here are the coconut cloud cake, and the brownie. I thought the cream puff was a bit disappointing since there was no cream inside... The raspberry bar also had a super delicious and fresh tasting raspberry filling, though it kind of fell apart as you were eating it.

If you like baked goods, BTW is as good as it gets. If you also require gluten-free and/or dairy free, you've hit the proverbial jackpot!! No way you can distinguish between BTW and any other mainstream bakery. A bit pricey but worth it. My personal favorite - Coconut Cake - next level!

We found this gem a week ago and have been three times since (even when it is an hour away from home, we still go lol). The staff is amazing. The treats are wonderful. I just recently found out I can't have gluten or dairy so this place is my "happy place" for desserts. We ordered my daughter's birthday cake from here and it was delicious! All the treats (and cold brew) we have tried have been outstanding. Definitely recommend!

Excellent service and pastries! I loved the chocolate chip cookies; they were thin, crisp, and not super filling. Perfect for a light dessert. Very nice ambiance, and it is small and cozy at this location. I would recommend it to visitors/locals and would return for more!

I have been shopping here since they opened, I have been catfishing people with this unbelievable great gluten-free bakery for I believe 8 years? And the shock on their faces, after they tell me how good it is, and then they realize it is gluten-free is almost as satisfying as how good it is!

I have a gluten sensitivity, so ice cream, pudding & fruit was always my "go-to" dessert. My wife read an article in the NYT about Helene Godin's "By The Way" bakery. Despite living only a few miles away, it's at least a 20 minute drive depending on traffic. I'll admit, my wife had to "drag" me there, because I really had no overwhelming urge to include bakery items like cakes and cookies in my diet. Then I went. And tasted! I'm kind of glad that they're in Hastings-on-Hudson. 1) It's a really scenic town that is a nice change from where I live, so it makes the trip special. 2) If BTW was in my town, their bakery items are so good I'd probably have to live there! Helene Godin and BTW are a godsend for people like me who require a gluten-free diet. For others, you have to taste it to believe it. Truly better than anything else I've had (prior to AND AFTER being gluten-free.) I love their chocolate covered macaroons (which they told me were seasonal, but come on, us gentiles need love in the "off season" too!) Their carrot cake is delicious (and something I'd give up my beloved ice cream for in a NY minute.) I also enjoy their cupcakes which are like mini versions of their cakes. Bottom line, even when I go in without having ordered ahead of time, I have never been disappointed in any purchase I ever made...wait, that's not true. I HAVE been disappointed. Disappointed I didn't think to buy MORE than I did. REALLY. P.S. I used the homophones "there" and "their" in the correct context. But it's not amazing, because I support good grammar everywhere. Even on the Internet!

The gluten free pastries are so delicious! My friend ordered her birthday cake the day we visited. The cakes were stunning and so many choices as well! The manager was very helpful as my friend was trying to select the basic cake, icing/frosting, lettering and decorations.

Love love nothing but love for By The Way. Being no gluten or dairy this place is paradise. Everything is insanely delicious. The people there are awesome. Everything about this place is pure gold (except the growing waistline that ensues). Game changer for folks who need food like this. Nothing even comes close.

By the Way has an adorable, clean storefront. Their staff are so lovely. I have no need to eat gluten or dairy free but I got my own birthday cake here - seriously the lemon cake is the best I've ever had; it's also my go-to cake spot for celebrating others. Oh and the chocolate schnibbler (a mini cake) is absolutely delicious...in fact I've never been disappointed in anything I've tried there. Did you know it's also a dairy free, kosher shop? Not vegan but if you have dairy or gluten sensitivities you have to try this place. Even if you don't you must try this place, you won't be disappointed.

A friend from Westchester (NY) had gifted me several almond cookies years ago, pre-pandemic. Although I loved the cookies, at the time, I felt that I couldn’t justify the trip. I live in Bergen County (NJ) and although I had not ventured to the Bakery, i never forgot how incredible those cookies were. I had had some BTW items purchased at Whole Foods but they weren’t the same (although I do adore the Madelines from there). This Saturday, the stars aligned and my husband & I made it to the shop in Hastings. OH MY! We purchased a bunch of goodies to freeze. My favorites? Amy Cake and Blondies. I still love the almond cookies but…. SO WORTH THE TRIP! So worth the price - gluten free, dairy free, & kosher. A HUGE part of my AMAZING experience at the bakery was the fabulous help - SHYANA was THE BEST. She was extremely helpful, friendly, kind, & patient with my questions and indecisiveness. Although we had placed an advance order, being in the shop with all these edible beauties was overwhelming - we bought more while there. It took years for us to get there but we already plan to go back within a couple of weeks. The entire experience of the BY THE WAY Bakery is over the top - from their adorable shop, cute packaging, lovely to look at and delicious to eat baked goods, and top staff = Shyana. Many, many thanks! Be back soon!

Dedicated Gluten Free bakery , Celiac friendly. Delicious but not cloyingly sweet ...They got the goods😉. Take the grands for a treat when they are around , Birthday cakes are fun and made to specs.. Our first cake had to replace another planned special ( NY harbor with Liberty) when a rx Celiac was discovered 2 weeks prior to the birthday..From start to finish the cake was a hit ..All the kids want a GF cake now 😂😉

This is a really nice place. Great sweets selection. Muffins, cupcakes, cookies and much more. The lemon cake is amazing! They said they have won awards for it and I totally can see why. It was truly lemony with real lemon curd layers. Everything we had was awesome. The only dessert we weren't crazy about was the vanilla cupcake because it was dry and tasted more like cornbread than cupcake but other than that everything was delightfully delicious!

I have been going to By The Way Bakery for years. When I first discovered it, I was head over heels knowing that every single item was gluten and dairy free. I have allergies to both so going out to eat is always a challenge but going to a bakery? That was impossible. By The Way Bakery changed that for me so when the time came to plan our wedding there was no question about where the cake would be coming from. They did such a fabulous job. We met with Helene several times and she helped us design a cake we loved. While many will turn their nose up at the very thought of eating something that is gluten and dairy free, our wedding guests were raving about the cake. They loved it and left asking for more. Thank you By The Way Bakery for helping to make our special day extra special.
