Good Mexican food at a good price, the taco's are on point. Barbacoa is awesome. I wish the chicken in the burrito had some more seasoning but it was still good with their hot sauce on it and the tamales aren't bad either.
Delicious tacos!!! The place is pretty chill it's your standard Mexican restaurant. The lunch menu has 27 options for you to choose from and the meal size is not skimpy. I ate the lengua and pork taco. I preferred the lengua but both were delicious. Be sure to ask for sauce they were great. Great place to stop for a good meal at a great price.
Solid Mexican food. Servers were polite and happy, a real pleasure. Kitchen can be a bit slow and dishes come to the table one at a time, which can be a bit of a pain in large groups. Worth the wait though, so be patient.
Excellent Mexican joint in the Burg. I have tried most others in the 3 years I've lived in hattiesburg - most were fine and none stand out in my mind at all. Los Compadres is different - tastier, more authentic, friendlier, and in some cases, less expensive. If you're unsure about trying Compadres for the first time, go by and get 2 tacos - for about $5 w/ tax you'll enjoy warm chips, fresh salsa, and the best corn tortilla tacos you can find in Hattiesburg. Steak, chicken, chorizo, pastor.. All good and flavorful. Seriously good Mexican food, and though some say I'm not allowed to make this claim, it rivals my favorite places in Texas and SoCal.
Authentic Mexican. If you're looking for authentic Mexican cuisine in Hattiesburg, Combadres is your best bet, from traditional tacos to menudo they serve the dishes you won't find at the Tex-Mex places in town. Highly recommend the barbacoa and chorizo tacos.

This place is fantastic! My husband and I began eating here frequently about 2 years ago. We've never had a bad meal or a bad experience. Most of the wait staffs' first language isn't English so sometimes you have to cut them a little slack & they aren't great about refills. Frankly, I don't expect exceptional service from a place like this anyhow. They are courteous, polite, and the food is great. That is what I expect and that is always what I can count on. It's one of my favorite places in town.
Went here for lunch with my husband. We will only be eating here for Mexican from now on. It's amazing and a wonderful value! The Horchata is amazing too.

Awesome Barbacoa Taco. Stopped in for an early dinner this past week. Haven't been in this building since it was a Pizza Hut, to say the least it's a bit different now.
My experience was a bit mixed, but the good was so good it outweighed the bad. The service was good, friendly and attentive. I ordered from their "authentic Mexican taco" selection. I started off with four selections, Barbacoa, Chorizo, Al Pastor and Lengua.
When the server returned there were only three tacos on the plate, Barbacoa, Chorizo and Al Pastor, figured the other was coming....began eating. They brought out two sauces for the tacos that were simply dressed with raw onion and cilantro....a salsa verda and a chipolte sauce, both were very good.
The Al Pastor and and Chorizo were a bit over cooked, they charred them too much on the flat-top before putting on them on the tortillas. They were not bad, but would have been a lot better had they not been a bit burned.
The Barbacoa was some of the best Barbacoa tacos that I have ever eaten, the beef was perfectly seasoned, cooked to perfection it just worked right in every way. I would go back for this menu item alone.
As for the Lengua taco, no idea how it was, never showed up at the table....but at least they didn't try to charge me for it....speaking of charging, the prices are very reasonable.
Good food, but service could improve.. My family and I ordered some meals to go from Compadres. Once we started breaking everything open, I realized we were missing at least three items: one main entree and two side orders. However, it didn't seem as though they charged me for those missing items I ordered. It just seemed like something got lost in translation over the phone. On the plus side, everything we DID get tasted great. So the food was good, they just need to improve the service. Maybe a bit of a language barrier.
Great tacos. I tried Compadres for the first time this week. I was greeted when I came in and was shown to a table. My server brought a menu right away and got my drink and then returned with chips and salsa. The salsa is the very thin, puree style (I prefer a little thicker so it stays on the chip better) but I loved the flavor of the salsa and the chips were fresh and warm. I was in the mood for tacos so I tried three different ones: Asada, Carnitas and Pollo--all very very generously filled and very good. I almost couldn't finish them. I also got rice and beans just to try them and they refried beans were real beans, not mush, and the flavor was great. The server came and checked on me several times to make sure I had everything I needed. The whole experience was very good.

Never had a bad meal here. While we've never had a bad meal there, the food is very generic. I would not be able to pick it out of the many other Mexican restaurants in town. Up until the most recent visit, the service was bad. The girl that always waited our table looked pissy and unhappy, and acted like doing her job was a problem. Thankfully, a new girl waited our table on our most recent visit and she was incredibly friendly and made sure everything came out as soon as it was ready.
Great for an inexpensive hot lunch or dinner!

Great food. Being from California growing up with great authentic mexican food I always get excited to see new mexican places open up and hear how great they are here in Hattiesburg only to find it exactly like all the other places already here compadres was an unexpected surprise I went in expecting mediocre and got authentic. def recommend to everyone if your tired of all the other cookie cutter mexican places around here and ready for some real mexican food
A great find!. My wife and I have been here several times and have always enjoyed ourselves. The menu contains an array of cheap, authentic Mexican fare. Our current favorite being the street-food style barbacoa (shredded beef) taco. They do offer more substantial fare such as Chile Colorado, or the standard quesadillas, but we simply find the price [$1.99!] and quality of these authentic tacos difficult to resist.
A couple of positive notes in addition to the great food;
We were pleased to see that the owner/head cook is usually on hand making recommendations and checking on patrons in between his time at the cook station. Also strongly in their favor, the wait staff, who are usually excellent and always pleasant.
It's a very nice place to eat, I always have good servers and the food is always excellent and worth the price you pay. They are always clean and everyone is always super nice and would definitely reccomend.
Best street tacos in town! Chips and salsa are good, servers are extremely friendly, and food was prepared quickly. You owe it to yourself to stop by.
Fantastic food, service and great prices! The barbacoa was great. It was tender and not fatty at all. I have never had it in the red sauce they served it in and was very impressed. Everything else we tried was equally great, too. Compadres reminds me of my favorite taquieras back home in Texas. Will be back 100%!

This little mom & pop restaurant is a gem. The food is awesome and the service fantastic! Your money will go a loooooong way here. Every time I'm in Hattiesburg my wife and kids insist on eating there and it doesn't hurt my feelings a bit. Best authentic tacos I've had in years!
