We found this place on our way through town, and are so glad we stopped here instead of some chain place.ove the fact that they've been here for decades, it let's you know that the locals must like it. I had the cheeseburger and my wife had the grilled chicken salad. Both were very good. Fast (FAST) friendly service to boot. We will definitely be back!

One of my favorite local Hattiesburg restaurants for the past 25 years is the Gold Post! Their po-boy bread is authentic, shipped daily straight from New Orleans, and the house salad dressing is local famous. I recommend any of the Po-boy sandwiches, all the salads, and both the red beans and rice and the seafood gumbo. It's a perfect spot for a quick, casual lunch at a very reasonable price!

--- there are a lot of restaurants that serve outstanding shrimp po-boys -- [some are legendary, such as Lil' Ray's in Waveland ( now gone but still alive and well in Long Beach ) and Catalina's in Pascagoula ( still here but not the original ), and new ones such as The Front Porch in the woods North of DeLisle. ] - the Gold Post isn't one of them. First, it is NOT a "New Orleans style" po-boy - they use the wrong bread - it is some kind of hoagie bun, NOT French Bread at all. Second, it is tiny - like, really tiny. Third,. there isn't much shrimp on it ( it's tiny, remember ? ). Fourth, it is terrible - inedible terrible ( one bite and a second nip of a single shrimp just to see if it really is that terrible - it is ). Fifth, it is super expensive for what you get ( tiny terrible sandwich and limp fries will beat down a $20 bill to 'not-much-left' ). Strangely, I ate here in the not so distant past ( it was in 2022 ) and the cost was way less, the shrimp was way better, and while the sandwich wasn't any bigger, or the bread any closer to being French, it , overall, was a decent meal at a reasonable value - no longer. With some 3/4 of a century of shrimp po-boy experience, I can declare this the worse I have ever encountered.

My favorite place to eat in Mississippi for decades. The po'boys are made like a po'boy should be. The ham, dressed roast beef with gravy, and shrimp are good enough it is hard to choose which to have this visit. Also get the cup of gumbo with your Po'boy. There are other things on the menu that I am sure must be good but getting past ordering a po'boy and gumbo make it impossible to tell.

Given wrong side order (broccoli bites instead of cheese sticks), burger was pretty small, and fries were dead cold. I haven’t eaten here in years, thought I’d give it a try and realized why I don’t hear of it as a good option anymore. The price of the burger compared to the size was off, and I couldn’t believe how cold the fries were. Giving two stars because the burger was actually good, but the other two items were not good at all.

When we come to Hattiesburg this place a on our list, it's been here since at least the 1970's that I know of.
