Review The Wurst Restaurant - Healdsburg

Robert arr
I was in town, craving a burger and a hotdog, and remembered I had not been to "The Wurst" in years. So, I decided to revisit it. I gave them a call, finished what I was doing, and headed over. I arrived a few minutes early and decided to have a beer (Seismic - Liquifaction) outside. There was enough seating to accommodate any size group. The customer service was phenomenal!! With food and atmosphere to match. Can't wait to return.

Very cool and stylish restaurant. Perfect place to chill out, have a cool beer and a delicious hand crafted sausage from a local butcher. Also they have a beautiful beergarden, sometimes even with live music!! The staff was lovely and very kind and our visit here was just perfect. Best sausages we have ever eaten out of Germany grilled to perfection. Also they have so many different types of sausages, we tried many of them and they were all extremely tasty. We also tried the Burgers, they were also perfectly grilled, juicy inside and lovely seasoned. Very cool, relaxed and honest place and a nice change to all the french restaurants in Healdsburg and in the area. Highly recommendable!!

This restaurant is very cute and well maintained. It is trendy and people definitely enjoy the vibe. And has a great outdoor area which probably allows dogs but you cannot bring the pets inside. Food prices are typical of today with a large bratwurst selling for about 11 bucks. Keep in mind that all of the burgers and brats are a la carte so if you want fries or another side you're going to have to pay at least $5 more. Beer prices are also fairly typical with a pint going for about six or seven bucks. The restaurant has moved to a self-service model so you order at the front and they bring out the food once it's ready but otherwise you serve yourself and you pick up your own condiments, pick up your own silverware, and you get your own drinks. Since my wife and I own a restaurant as well we know that this is a good way to keep the cost of labor down which translates to lower food prices. However generally when you go out to eat you kind of expect to have table service since otherwise it's like eating at home since you get your own stuff. I will say that the person behind the register was very friendly and had a great attitude. The bratwurst that I received was tasty but I would not say that it was anything out of this ballpark. It was an average upscale bratwurst. I would say it was properly priced however since it's an ala cart meal it would have been nice to be a little bit more hearty. To be full you would have definitely needed to purchase the side of fries. I like the place and the vibe was cool but if I was extremely hungry I would not suggest purchasing one of the bratwurst here. I was not that hungry when I stopped in and it was a fair amount with the bratwurst and side of fries.

Excellent food and great atmosphere! This was our first time here and based on our experience it won't be our last. Staff was friendly, prices were good, atmosphere was relaxed and the food was delicious. Highly recommend! Featured in the photo is the GreenBay dog, Detroit dog, Louisiana Hotlink and garlic fries.

This is the Wurst restaurant in Northern California!! (Ha). They heard them all the cashier told me! This is a unique opportunity to find great sausages and the boy teports the bugers were the best. I loved the 8 or so varieties of mustards and relishes. The service was good, the food well prepared and the inside and outside eating areas were very comfortable. Coming back.

My husband and I wanted to avoid spending a lot of money for dinner after wine tasting all day and I'm so glad we found this place! I ordered the Snoop Dog, my husband got the jalapeno cheddar with sauerkraut, and we shared an order of garlic fries. Loved the selection of dips/sauces. Only thing that could have been better would have been if the bun wasn't cold and the music they were playing was super random. Be aware the close at 7 some nights!

I always have a great experience here. The hot dogs are interesting and well executed, they have a small but great Bret selection, great milkshakes, and awesome burgers. I've been here a number of times and they've never disappointed l. I highly recommend "The Wurst" if you like a casual dining environment and good food.

Super chill and really great place right in the center of Healdsburg. The food is just great. Highly recommended

Loved the beer sausage!! I wasn’t expecting the sour kraut or the grilled onions to have green bell pepper (not a fan) but overall the sausage was great. The sweet potato fries sprinkled with big flaky salt were savory and I would love to get those alone! Also the beer selection was okay, I didn’t count if it was 16 (as their sign says) but it was filled with gems.

A great place for a fast bite. It’s dog friendly and has a big patio. We will be coming back.

THIS PLACE TOTALLY KICKS BUT!!! awesomely kind and friendly staff. The cook is down to earth, old school work ethic and fantastic culinary skill.. the menu never gets old with (UNIQUE) bratwurst and sandwiches to choose from. The beer and wine selection is better than some bars in the area. I REALLY CANT SAY ENOUGH GOOD THING'S, I love this place and always try to bring as many people as I can every time I've been there has been a memorable time. I hope more local people realize what a hidden gem/hole in the wall place they have access to..PS SUPPORT YOUR LOCALLY OWNED BUSINESS ..this place deserves your attention 😁👍👍

Great place to sit and eat. The fries are awesome and the smash burger is top notch.

Uber cool brat and burger spot, one block from the main Healdsburg Square. Old school beats, beers, etc. Very very good.

This place never disappoints!! The owner is there and making sure that every has a good time and is taken care of. With so much going on it was nice to sit down with our dog on the patio and have a sense of normalcy. The food was excellent... which is why we keep going back!!

Very disappointed. We asked for the best burger in town, so we headed straight here, without a second thought. I should have questioned the environment; but then again, we should not judge by immediate appearance. I was looking for a great burger, instead, I got a run of a mill chopped meat something. The best part were the garlic fries Ely got. Frankly, I don’t understand what others think as this for higher rating.

This place in Healdsburg sells many types of sausages, hot dogs burgers and salads. Seating in doors or out doors. I choose a smallest burger since I had breakfast several hours ago. To my surprise the burger was large and delicious. Good thing I didn't order the large one. Good salty fries, great onion rings. The two mothers got free ice cream Sundays since it was Mothers day. It's a great place to go if you have a dog with you. They are allowed in the outside eating area.

The Wurst has delicious food, I was so impressed by their sausages and hot dogs, and I'm totally the person that never eats those. So delicious and full of flavor. 5 stars all the way!

My wife and I ordered turkey burger with cheese and avocado. The food was great and not pricey at all. I highly recommend it

Our first time. Ordered the traditional hamburger without the onion, no problem , asked and charged for avacado. No avacado when my burger was delivered. Husband asked for grilled onions and sourkroat , slightly less than a teaspoon of both on the sausage. Noticed as we left, additional condiments by the door. Good to know..... Huge turnover of customers, never did I see anyone wipe down tables.

Love the rustic feel of the place. FOOD: The espresso milkshake was the perfect amount of rich coffee flavor without being TOO coffee (I'm not a coffee drinker). It was heavenly. My hubby ordered the smash burger but was very disappointed in the lack of grilled onions (one of his very favorite additions to a burger). He had to pull apart the burger to find the two pieces buried at the bottom. I had the Brat and it was great with the bacon & cheese additions. Our fries were warm bordering on cold, so a bit of a disappointment there. I would definitely return for the shake but doubt it will happen since the hub was not happy with hamburger.

Very average all around. However, I think purchasing their sausages and then taking them home to grill myself would be a solid option as I like the flavor of my Brat. Their does appear to be a good variety of drinks available.

One sausage was over cooked and one was significantly under cooked. In addition our order was incorrect. Many of the draft beers were unavailable. Staff seem disengaged.
We want to support local businesses but it's hard when the food and experience is less than expected.

YUM. What a great lunch spot in Healdsburg, especially if you don't want to spend a lot. The food was hot and delicious and the staff and owner were friendly. Check it out!

Great lunch place!. I have been to the Wurst Sausage Grill & Beer Garden on two different trips to wine country. Each time I have enjoyed amazing lunches at Wurst Sausage. The remarkable care that the owner has gone to offer such wonderful sausages is truly amazing. Without hesitation, I recommend locals and visitors alike pay a visit to the Wurst when in Healdsburg.

Great Place. What a selection to chose from. Not only the Wurst but also the toppings. Great service to help you with your selection and an awesome place to enjoy your DOG!

The Wurst is the best!. The Wurst is anything but… the dogs are inspired by the owners hometown, Detroit.

The place can be a little overwhelming at first. There is a large menu above the front counter, a gal behind the counter taking orders and depending on the time of day, several gals walking through the line taking orders, so you have to be quick and know what you want. There is a lot to choose from on the menus with the selection of dogs and then your choice of sides: sauerkraut, hot peppers, grilled onions.

I recommend going in and grabbing a menu, stepping aside and taking it all in. There are many dogs to choose from: pork, chicken apple, coney island, plain, chilli dog and the list goes on because it changes. Then there are burgers. I really feel that this is by far the best burger I have had in Sonoma County. If you are a reader, you may recall I have an undying love for the The Underwood restaurant in Graton, and their burgers have long been my favorite. Then there was P/30 whose pickles alone tickled my palate and buns wrapped over the patty like blankets, there was no sliding or dripping, I was torn between the two. Now, I must say, Wurst's Smash Burger" is succulent, grass fed beef flavored with spices, the cheese is perfectly melted, the special sauce they have created gently wipe the bun with holds a bit of a nostalgic memory for me; like a thousand island dressing but "upscale" and the pickles, well, the pickles are tart and sweet at the same time and just thick enough that each bite is crunchy and satisfying. There is also the BBQ slaw burger that they use the Murphy-Goode's (the wine tasting room right next door) Liar's Dice Zinfandel BBQ Sauce.
The buns are potato and fit each sausage perfectly and hold the burgers in nicely. The buns themselves are full of flavor and are oh so fresh. The burger itself is so tender and fresh that along with the bun, this experience can be somewhat messy. Well, extremely messy actually. But it is well worth it.

Everything is a la carte so order yourself some fries or onion rings, they are tasty. There is a selection of dipping sauces for those: truffle is by far, the best!

They serve a lot of locals so why not serve local product? They do, wherever they can. All the sauces were created with the help of former Starks Reality Restaurants Chef, Tracey Shepos. Their selection of micro brews are pretty good and they change them fairly frequently. My top favorite brews they carry (of course with the influence of Tim) are Racer 5, Little Sumpin' and Anderson Valley's Boont.

I highly recommend visiting Wurst. It's good for kids and families. A great place to dine outside and people watch.

The cost of lunch for two with a beer each: $37. which includes
Smash burger
regular dog *add cheddar
Boont beer
Little Sumpin beer

Truth be told, I know food, I am passionate about it anyway.

Reminiscent of what you find in Germany, communal tables are available here both inside—in an industrial-style open room with a high tin ceiling and exposed pipes--and outside on an exposed front patio. Local beers dominate the draft spigots, and I like that just a half-pint is an option. Order at the counter, then select your seat. Service is friendly and fast.

hot dogs and fries at Wurst restaurant in Healdsburg, California
