They have the best pork ribs and brisket that I have ever eaten. All the food was great! You have to try the banana pudding! The place to go for great Bbq!

Was passing by and just decided to stop in and we were so glad we did. Barbecue was awesome... we had brisket, chicken, sausage, and ribs. Everything was great, but the rib may have been the best I have ever had. On top of that the people serving us were as nice as the day is long... definitely a good stop, we will be going back for more.

First thing you see is smoke, first thing you smell is deliciousness, first thing you hear is 'welcome', first thing you feel is at home, and the first thing you taste will keep you coming back for more! Brisket and ribs are low and slow tender, okra is crunchy and on point - buttermilk pie heaven!

Holy frijoles!! This bbq shack is one of a kind.Have driven by a few times and finally stopped.should of done it long ago.Im a smoker so I'm pretty critical of others bbq.Dan has something special going on.The ribs were amazing! I don't use sauce on my bbq but Dan Hill has a flavorful concoction that I would use on my meat. And if the food don't hook you then the hospitality and all around nature of this man surely will. What an awesome soul this man has.Serves up plenty of food and lots of laughs. My wife and I have agreed to make this our go to place whenever we're in the mood for a lil Sunday drive....cuz, yep they're open on Sunday! Thanks Mr.Hill!

Excellent BBQ and oh my the bbq sauce is addicting!! Loved my meaty, tender pork ribs as much my husband did the sliced beef. The fried okra tasted fresh instead of frozen and the potato salad was delicious! Highly recommend you stop by and try them out!

Great bbq and amazing hospitality! We stopped in for lunch today for the first time and tried it all. Ribs, brisket, chicken and sausage - all great! We loved the potato salad, too. If you still have room, try the banana pudding...wow!! Service was as good as it gets - we will be back!

Hill Country B B Q, put it on your list for a "Must stop in" and get some of the best barbecue in the Great State of Texas. Great smoked meats, country-style side orders, sweet tea and homemade deserts that includes "Barbara Bush Banana Pudding". Former First Lady and President Bush photos proudly displayed showing they have excellent taste in Texas barbecue and their friendship with the owner and his family. First time there, admiring the place as we were finished and headed out, the Man saw me and said I looked like I played guitar and wanted to show me his guitar which turned into a impromptu jam session with him. Second time there, I took my wife and two friends. We sat at a table in front of the Bear and after enjoying our meal, the Man brought out two guitars and we took turns playing and singing for awhile. Best time I've had in a long time. Enjoyed his music, stories and songs. Bring your appetite and your guitar. Great food and some of the finest people you ever wanna meet... Thanks, William Ward

Some of the best BBQ I have ever eaten. The sausage was my favorite but the ribs are very good too. Cole slaw is out of this world and I loved the down home atmosphere!

I purchased the chopped brisket sandwich. It was really good, they beat my favorite BBQ place in flavor. The only thing I would have preferred would have been to have the BBQ sauce kept nice and warm. Ambiance was great also.

I saw it on the side of road and decided to stop in for some late lunch BBQ. I had brisket, ribs and sausage and everything was good. I really liked the sausage as it was more the meaty kind of sausage and not the mushy kind of sausage. The sides I had were green beans and the mac & cheese both were really good and the green beans had good flavor. BBQ sauce they have in the table is good as well and the price for what I had was pretty good. I would stop by again if I was driving along this stretch of road again.

This is truly a hidden gem. The brisket was moist with a great smoked flavor. The potato salad was also delicious. Made with new potatoes, it was slightly chunky and creamy. The atmosphere is true hill country. Stop in and enjoy!

Best BBQ in the area! We finally took a drive North to check out Hill Country and so glad we did. Thick and moist cuts, great flavor ... mmmmmmm, still thinking and talking about the great sliced beef sandwiches. Ready to go back very soon!

Small, quaint little country place. I brought home ribs, brisket and sausage for the wife and I. Along with sides including potato salad, green beans and mac & cheese. Topped it off with their banana pudding. Everything was very good and I'm guessing even better if I had eaten it there instead of 2 hours later.

I've been passing this place for decades and I've never stopped until now. The brisket is cut thick and only comes one way but it's pretty good. The ribs however are fantastic along with the sausage. The coleslaw is how I like it and the mac-n-cheese is great. The banana pudding is probably the best I've had. I'd rate this place 5 stars if the price wasn't straight highway robbery. The owner was out chopping the meat and was very dynamic while making recommendations. Overall you should stop if you want BBQ because by the time you find something better you'll spend the difference in gas.

Delicious bbq! I got thr honey glazed ribs which were amazingly delicious, sweet and tender. The brisket super tasty with a delicious bark on it. The banana pudding is amazing too. The green beans needed some love, but overall the food was really good.

With the emphasis on "Country", this rodeo-themed cafe really is in the countryside, off Hwy 6. The decor is rustic with a huge stuffed bear in the middle of the dining area, walls plastered with rodeo photos, presumably of rodeo stars, and a seasoning of antlers for a bit of hunting-lodge atmosphere. There weren't many choices for lunch, pork ribs, beef ribs, and brisket, all outdoor fire barbequed, with sides like potato salad and coleslaw, but the brisket was plentiful and good, as you'd expect from Texas beef. Order and pickup is at the counter, with no table service. The staff wasn't particularly heart warming, but I simply took them as quietly reserved country folk. There's a big gravel parking lot out front. Be careful pulling in and out, as the traffic zips by at alarming speeds on the uncontrolled highway.

Wow. Just incredible barbeque. The owner was incredibly nice and helped us pick options. We dropped an unannounced group of 15 on them and they hooked us up. The brisket, sausage and ribs were just amazing and the Apple pie was da bomb.

Food was pretty tasty. Potato salad and brisket sure needed some more seasoning though. The spot was nice as far as BBQ places go. Definitely had the basics. Regret not trying the okra though.

We were craving some delicious barbecue on our way back from the Hill Country and found this gem just off of 290 and Hwy 6. The brisket was deliciously moist and flavorful, the chicken seasoned to perfection, and the sausage retained a delicious smoked flavor. We were not disappointed, and it was a perfect end to our "Tour of Texas." It was so good that my boyfriend said it rivaled spending time with me. Hahahaha! Thanks to the friendly and accommodating staff who gave us an unforgettable experience. Mr. Dan Hill, the owner, even gave us a live performance and was a pleasure to talk to. Talk about the quintessential Texas experience!

Chopped beef sandwich is so good you need to use a fork to catch all the goodness that falls out. Fried okra was fresh and not frozen.

My husband happened upon Hill Country BBQ when working in the area last year. He then went two more times and hasn’t stopped raving about it since then! Flash forward to this week when we are both in Houston for work. He insisted we drive over an hour out to Hill Country BBQ for lunch and...IT WAS TOTALLY WORTH IT!! The smoke flavor was amazing...barbecue sauce was delicious...sausage had just enough spice and most importantly to me they had delicious Mac n cheese! As a couple we can’t recommend it enough here! Food is amazing, generous portions and they are so friendly they recognized my husband from when he came here last year!

My husband and I stopped on the way to a friend's. Both orders stuffed baked potatoes. They were huge. We could have easily split one. Service was prompt, but could use a little more interaction with customers and the building could use a good update.

Sadly it took me almost 20 years to ever stop at this place, after driving from B/CS area to Houston area ,. ,finally I decide to stop today and i dont regret a bit , its the opposite not haven't stop after so many years. From now on it would be a must stop on every trip. If you haven't try this place please do it. I blame it on the actual hill on the road and not have enough time to stop by , just pay attention theres plenty of time to get ready and turn right on to parking lot .(also watch for the cellphone tower on the oposite side of hwy) ,yes parking lot was empty also, but just after exiting my vehicle the smell was so amazing, And the flavor was indeed very awesome, try it all ,ribs, sausage, chiken Good luck!
