It was an unusually rainy day in August when my son asks, “Have you ever had a lamb burger?”
“Never even heard of one.” I said.
“Oh, we gotta spot. You have to try one.” He seems excited.
Off we go through the wind and the rain. I’m secretly thinking, “is this going to be worth the trouble?”
Turns out, it was. We loved it. It was worth every bit of trouble. My son and my wife had the lamb burger and I had the lamb wrap. There were both outstanding, a distinctive Mediterranean flavor but not overdone with spices.
We ate like kings and queens while Herbie Hancock’s “Maiden Voyage” played on the speakers overhead. There’s just something soothing about smooth, classic jazz while you eat.
We give Cafe Rakka five stars. Thanks for a great meal.
We visited early in the day just after opening. The young man behind the register seemed to be struggling to be ready to open. We were told that today was the first time that they had opened since the tornado came through a week before. We placed our order and sat to wait. The food came out in a timely fashion and was quite good. We had order a "house water" as a drink when we placed our order. We were told by the young man that he would bring it out. Each time he came to our table (first to clean it, them the silverware, then the two entrees) he would yell us that he was getting the water. Finally I walked up to the counter to tell him I would just buy a bottle of water instead. He then poured up the water and gave it to me. We had also ordered Baba Ghanoush but when I went to get the water, I asked about it and was told that I didn't order it. No apology given for his mistake of not hearing it when both my wife and I said it.
In light of the recent storm damage to the area, and the fact that it may ha e just been a rough start to the day, we will give them another chance in the future.
Amazing food! I had the grilled chicken hummus bowl and my husband had the lamb shawarma hummus bowl. You can customize the spice level (mild, medium, hot), so I got mine mild and my husband had medium. He said the medium definitely had a kick to it. Both dishes were incredible, and came with a side of wonderful fresh pita bread. We also had a side of falafel, and it was probably the best we’ve ever had. Huge portions and super fresh! Everything is made with olive oil, so it’s very clean. I’m also dairy-free, and the food was very allergen-friendly for me. Highly, highly recommend!
First time coming to this restaurant. I have to admit the food was amazing it took some time and I was going to knock off a point of soul for that but I decided to be nice because I don't know what was going on back there the taste of the food gives them extra bonus points plus the service is really nice seems like a small hole in the wall ton of flavor with the food small parking lot wasn't too busy will definitely be back to try more the photo that I posted is a spicy chicken shawarma wrap
Amazing food with rich flavors. Also has homemade pomegranate and hibiscus tea which was extremely delicious. His hummus is worth traveling for and you won’t be disappointed.
Tiny little joint - so very tasty! The staff is so helpful and friendly...and patient with these first timers! Chicken Tikka Masala Sandwich, and lamb shawarma sandwich. We will be back!
I loved this place very wholesome. I have had the lamb shawarma wrap and lamb hummus platter; i have been reading all the 5 star reviews so i can decide what to get next time.
My family ate here for the first time and we were blown away. The falafel was the best we've ever had, the hummus was amazing, and the portions were perfect. I had the Chicken and Cream rice bowl, my husband had the Lamb Biryani, my sister had the Chicken Biryani, and my mother had the Chicken Tandoori sandwich. None of us were disappointed, and three of us had enough left over for another meal. SO GOOD!!! Go eat here, you won't be disappointed!
We always loving coming to this place. The food is always good, but we especially love the homemade tea and the hummus. As someone from this part of the world, the food is spot on and reminds me of home. I highly recommend that everyone should try this place out at least once.
I wanted to add that they have increased their homemade tea selection and it is even better than before.
Delicious, unassuming, fast. I loved Cafe Rakka! The food was so tasty. They had a nice little outdoor area to eat too. The inside is small but super clean and nice. The service was also great. Staff was more than willing to answer all of my questions! We had bread, drinks and entrees. The price was fair for the quality of the food too.
Very good food and friendly service. Had the lamb shawarma (wrap) and the babaganoush appetizer. Delicious. So many other great things on the menu. Will return. Very good food and friendly service. Had the lamb shawarma (wrap) and the babaghanoush appetizer, along with the Hummus + Lamb bowl. Delicious. So many other great things on the menu. Will return.
Everything here is amazing and I recommended it. However, they have no policy against wild children throwing paper airplanes and hitting other customers. I understand bad parenting, but this business needs to fix this.
I've been coming here for 3 years and have always had a very pleasant experience. Sometimes it gets busy and wait times can get a little lengthy, but it's worth every minute.
They always have cucumber & lemon water, but I recommend the pomegranate or red tea.
Look over the menu on their website before going. When you go in you will order at the counter and they give you a number to put on your table. If you're not sure about something be sure to ask, the staff here is knowledgeable and friendly.
Prepare yourself for a flavor invasion that will make you dance in your seat.
*Update* 3/8/22
The menu has changed, but the options are full of flavors and filling. I had the chicken biryani. It's basically chicken curry and rice. It's served with the chicken curry and bread on the bottom. It adds to the experience as you mix the curry and rice together and you see the rice begin changing colors and the smells become more aromatic. They offer a spicy version and as a hot chicken lover I will say that the spicy version will warm you up without burning your mouth off. It's a good option for cool rainy weather.
If you are debating on going, just do it. Check out the menu online. Everything there is delicious. Be advised, if you are not accustomed to lamb it can be gristly, however the lamb burger is not. Give yourself plenty of time to enjoy the food and try the red or pomegranate tea. This is a meal you won't forget.
This place is a GEM! Great food. I’m in love with the lamb burger. Absolutely to die for. Lamb chops are awesome also. Hummus is out of this world. Kids had a grilled cheese pita. And you must get the pomegranate tea. So yummy!!
Excellent food! Authentic and delicious. Went for dinner early on a Saturday evening, and it wasn't packed. I found the menu to be a little limited in selection, but from what I had, it seems like everything is excellent. I had the chicken on the sajj, and my wife has the vegetarian sampler platter. The pomegranate tea is amazing! Definitely get some to go as well. Overall the prices seemed a little bit high, but the quality and portion size was good. I only wish this place was closer to the city. It was about a 40 minute drive for me, but it was worth it!
This place did not disappoint. Would most definitely recommend the tandoori chicken hummus, and both entrees we had were lovely. The owner kindly brought us a delicious dessert, which was a fantastic ending to a really great meal. The servings are so large we have another meal!
Delicious middle eastern vegetarian food! I got the falafel wrap spicy. I couldn’t wait to take a bite I forgot to take a pic before having one haha! I got the spicy one which was VERY spincy! Loved it!!
