1st visit - definitely won't be the last! Staff were all amazing. Multiple people checked in multiple times to see how the food was. We ordered appetizers (Spring rolls & Goyza) and then ordered 5 rolls of sushi. It was super cool to sit at the bar and watch / talk to the skilled chefs while they made our rolls. Everything was amazing and super fresh, but I highly recommend the NY roll. Prices were very reasonable for the amount of food you get. Honestly, we expected the bill to be more based on another location that we also like. We are already planning our next meal at Tokyo.
7/22/23 - Second visit. Again, this place didn't disappoint. The fresh spring rolls were so good the last time we got them again. It's so good that I forgot to take pictures. We also had the NY roll, spicy tuna roll, Denver roll, Mexican roll, and tried their Thai fried rice with chicken.
Only been here twice but the price per portion and quality is incredible. For a small place, they keep it clean and well serviced. It's so popular I would recommend a call ahead just to make sure they have tables. You wouldn't think much of it from the outside, at first it seems like a generic Asian restaurant in a strip mall but once you get inside and seated it's hard to think of anywhere else you'd rather be for a nice Bento Box and hot sake. The price is also just so agreeable. If you treat yourself to a hibachi platter you're practically getting two dinners for roughly $20. I've yet to be disappointed and always try to make a stop here whenever in town.
Amazing sushi and wonderful service! Every sushi and sashimi we tried were very tasty and fresh. Excellent rice ratio which made the sushi taste even better. The restaurant was packed when we arrived even though it was not peak hours. The waitress was so accommodating even though she was the only one on the floor, she even added a nice touch to the Diet Coke with lime. Don’t miss this place if you are in the area.
The food the food is so fresh and so delicious. I had to return three more times my last visit. It was so good. I fell asleep at the table lol.
This place is consistently absolutely delicious!! I always come here for the sushi. It is, without a doubt, truly the best I've ever had. It's made fresh in front of you, and the flavors and presentation (and price) are always on point!! So, so good! It's a cute, quaint little spot, with friendly staff and owners. Local, family-owned, and delicious. Service is fast, prices are good. Try it- you can thank me later!
Overall had a good experience. Service was very good. Food were delicious for the majority. Many items, especially sashimi combos, are extremely overpriced for the quality served.
Everything is good!!! this my favorite place to dine or take out and the fried veggie spring rolls got me in a choke hold!
Tokyo is our favorite restaurant! We live 2 hours away and make the trip often to visit this wonderful gem. Delicious food, exceptional service, cozy atmosphere! The owners and their team (Josh, waiter extraordinaire) are so friendly and welcoming. Go! Support this great restaurant! We highly recommend the Tuna Tataki and the New York Roll. Soooo good!!!
Best susi that I have had in Rochester, great family run business. Very friendly and helpful in understanding the menu with reasonable pricing. Wonderful selection of drinks too...
One of my all-time favorite places to eat in Rochester! Every bite is awesome, and everyone who works there is insanely kind and attentive. You can tell they really care about their customers, regulars or not. Shoutout to Josh!

The parking was ample and handicap accessible. As we entered Tokyo Japanese Restaurant we were greeted by an absolutely FABULOUS aroma of food!!! We were greeted immediately upon entry and seated promptly. Not only was the ambiance and lighting perfect but the seats and tables were the perfect size for the large portion meal we were about to devour... The ENTIRE staff were not only responsive and polite but they were bubbling with personality! You can tell immediately that everyone working there was very passionate about the restaurant and the level service they provided to all of their customers was superb! The staff literally made you feel like you're at home as they carried conversations with customers that far exceeded normal restaurant discourse. As for the drinks and food! Service once again far exceeded expectation! Everything from the green tea to the IPA beer were brought out expeditiously. The mango bubble tea and the Japanese soda my kids loved!!! The Japanese soda is packaged uniquely even when it comes to opening it... We started with appetizers: Spicy calamari, Negimaki and satay beef. ALL three were expertly prepared and packing so much flavor. The quantity of the entree dishes were on the large side. The flavor explosion continued with our main course consisting of: Evil Jungle Prince (House Special), Hibachi Geisha, Sushi combo, Sashimi Combo and Panang Chicken. ALL dishes were bursting with flavor and the quantity for all the dishes was robust to say the least! The wasabi was definitely home made. The presentation of the dishes was also well laid out in plates that were of high quality and weight. The Coconut Custard and Tempura Banana Ice Cream to finish / complement our wonderfully prepared and large portioned dinner were also an absolute delight!!! BRAVO ALL AROUND to the proprietor and the staff. This is a MUST EAT AT FINE DINING ESTABLISHMENT!!! What an OUTSTANDING experience!!! I truly can't say enough of how GREAT this restaurant is!!!
Cannot give this place enough praise! We’ve been five times in the last 6 months and it’s always been amazing! Our favorites are the bento boxes (which each come with enough food for two, or a second dinner for tomorrow) and the fried spicy calamari. The ginger salad is always fresh and the sauce is well balanced. The miso soup is warm, satisfying, and full of green onions. The bento boxes all use the same teriyaki sauce for the meat (or tofu) and it’s so good we usually take a to-go cup home. Staff are always friendly and service is often fast. Absolutely recommend!
I tried their chicken pho for the first time and it was great! Our waitress was wonderful and we had a great experience overall. The restaurant itself is small but feels welcoming. I'll definitely be coming back.
While I’m Rochester we were looking for good and not expensive sushi place so we tried Tokyo Japanese restaurant. I liked the grill salmon roll and the mango sticky rice.
New favorite Japanese restaurant! THEY SUPPORT OUR MILITARY/VETERANS WITH A 10% DISCOUNT. The owner, Tony, takes great pride in his food, setting, and the homemade sauces. He is happy to talk, interact, and share the story. This is a local business we want to support and keep here in Henrietta. This food is great, the portions are filling, the prices are VERY REASONABLE, and you have leftovers!

We eat a lot of sushi. This was a first at this restaurant. The sushi was the best we have ever had! Absolutely delicious.

Beautifully plated sushi and definitely high quality food. This restaurant is a great place to bring a date to. The size of the restaurant is fairly small so accommodating a very large party is probably not as feasible but definitely a great place for smaller parties.
