Delicious vegetarian options. The chef let me try all of them--pumpkin, spinach, mushrooms, eggplant, chick pea with their delightful sauce. Each vegetarian item was soooo flavorful. The people are so nice too. My go to place! I'll be back when I fly into Dulles next!

We ordered the Naan as a starter, which was slightly crispy and very good. For our entrées, we had the Kabuli with Boneless Chicken, served with rice and turnips, and the Chicken Lawand, served with rice and spinach. Both dishes were full of delicious flavors. And there was so much food! We both ate until we were full and still had half (or more) of the dish left. We very much enjoyed the food. We sat at the bar, but it was more of a counter as there was no overhang to eat on, so we were on stools and had to lean over the counter to eat - that was just poor design. There were tables open, so if I go back, I will definitely sit at a table to be more comfortable.

The food is excellent; the service even better. We dined for the first time at Kabobi at the Helmand tonight with our two kids. It was a fantastic dining experience. The boys loved the chicken kabob and the chicken samosas. The owner was kind enough to bring by some other boneless chicken which they loved. Both my wife and I had the vegetarian specialities. She opted for the veggie bowl and I opted for the cauliflower and chickpeas. Both were filling and the taste was spot on. One of the highlights for us was the fresh baked bread and hummus. That type of bread is symbolic of high end restaurants and so we were in for a treat finding it locally. My wife who is from Baltimore tells me the Helmand is a landmark restaurant in Baltimore. To have a taste of that near us is truly delightful. We will be back and recommend it highly.

Amazing food. The lamb was amazingly tender and juicy. We loved the banjan borani which is an eggplant dish (I generally don't like eggplant), lamb lawand and kabuli pallow. The ferni dessert is a must try too.

One of my all time favorite places to eat! The food is AMAZING! Very comforting. There are plenty of options for my vegetarian husband and picky son. I love the lamb and get it every chance I get. The atmosphere is comfortable and family friendly and the service is always top-notch. I highly recommend this restaurant!

Service was a bit delayed but the taste of food made up for it. Pricey compared to other kabab places in the area.

We can’t believe this place is so close to us and yet we missed a couple of years not discovering this place and this kind of food. Wow what a great way to be introduced to Afghan food. I don’t usually eat spicy food but OMG their food is sooo amazing. My son is addicted to this place, the food is delicious, very friendly staff, very nice ambience. Highly recommended. Everyone should experience this place especially if you’re flying out of Dulles Airport. It’s literally waking distance from the metro. I can’t wait for my other son to come to this place and bring his colleagues since their office is so close. They will be so happy to discover this place. Sooooo GOOD!

The chicken lunch special is pretty good. Nice and tender. Naan bread was also decent. Ice cream was very good, the crushed nuts and whatever they add ( don't know the name haha) adds good texture

I came here for a business lunch with a small group, and enjoyed the food. I tried the chicken bowl with special rice, which was very flavourful. The meat was cooked tenderly, the rice was aromatic, and the curry was good. I thought the bowl could have a little more to it in term of options and ad ons but still overall the food was delicious. I would recommend this spot.

First time trying Afghan food. We LOVED everything we tried! Server was very friendly and made some good suggestions. Our selection was variety of the veg options. Spinach, chickpeas, eggplant, mushrooms as well as the turnip starter. Everything was super flavorful - like it’s been infused with flavor and cooking for hours! The mushroom, eggplant and turnips were the super standouts. The cardamom infused green tea was also really refreshing! Will def be back next time we are in the area!!
