I am a chef and found myself moving to Hickory and needing work I applied at The Tap Room not knowing what kind of food they served I had never ate there I was expecting just the standard bar food they hired me as a cook and to my surprise the food served is of top quality food you would find in a five star restaurant the kitchen is very clean and the food is prepared fresh like I said I was not expecting this at a bar but I have found out that the tap room is much more then just a bar it is a fine dining experience and I feel privileged to work there I tell all my friends to come there and try the food it is a great place in Hickory thanks
Ate here during Oktoberfest. Ordered the burger & a small pizza. They were very busy but server got our order & food fairly quickly. Craft beer was very good and surprisingly low priced at $4 for a 12oz glass. Everything was good & much cheaper than overpriced fare at the booths.
Great food, great service. I have never had a bad meal here. Love the fish and chips. And the beer selection is best in town.
The food is incredible, the staff is even better, and our server, Meg, was extremely welcoming and on top of everything. Will definitely be back!
I eat at the Tsproom on a regular basis. First off the food is great and consistent. The prices are very reasonable and the wait staff is awesome. The atmosphere is the best and its very clean. For me its my favorite place to eat on Hickory!
The waitress was fabulous!! Was in town buying a car from Johns used autos and stopped in for dinner. Great beer on tap and food was excellent. I wanted to ask if you sell the cups lol but forgot 😢. Thank you for the fabulous dinner.
This has been our go to restaurant for years always a good selection in beer and friendly staff , I'm sure all their waitresses are great kellie is always our favorite she gives the best service and conversation if your in need .. Their chicken tenders are always a good choice so is the Big Bird Sandwich
How great to find a place where the food and service are better than your expectations. Great beer selection. Nice menu selection. The mother-daughter bar maid team are so cool, and accomodating. Beer was good. Food was good. Service was good.
Some of the best chicken tenders I've had around town. They're huge and not overly cooked. They got a wide variety of alcohol to select from. It's a good place to catch up with family and friends.
We came to this place during swinging under the stars. They were very busy and we were told it would be about 25 min until our party of three could be seated. So we were delighted when the host came to find us in the crowd in only 15. We were shown to a booth, but my sister had different weds and we asked if we could have one of the empty tables and they were happy to accommodate. Our server was friendly observant and efficient. The prices are extremely reasonable. I had the Charleston Cesar Salad, it is a Cesar with crab cakes on top. It was decent. My sister had the chicken tender platter and it was large and tasty. Would recommend. My sister in law had a burger, and said it was awesome. We had a small batch IPA that was delicious and the hickory stick stout another winner. The facilities were clean. My only complaint is the bathroom stall is tiny. But hey that my opinion. 10/10.
The bar is pretty cool and in a good location.
The servers and the bartender aren't the best.
Asking about what cocktails they have I got an answer " we have 200 drinks here..."
I let the bartender choose one for me while wasn't in the menu she gave me a cocktail attempt.
5 stars for the location and the age of the place but for drinks and tenders 2 stars
We thoroughly enjoyed Olde Hickory Tap Room last month during the snowstorm. We were in town in temporary lodging, no food available for lunch or dinner. They were one of the very few places open. The service was excellent, and they even put us in a more family friendly part of the restaurant since we have a young child. Food was delicious, and kept us from going to bed hungry.
I love the feel of the Taproom. I have visited often. Their menu is always the same, but always good food. The wait staff works hard. It's also a great place for takeout if you're sitting outside. Be prepared to wait a little while just because it's always packed. You can grab a drink at the bar to take outside while you wait.
First time there today for late lunch around 1:30pm. Very short wait for a table.
Very good food. I had fish and chip, wife had steak. Both quite good. Price well within acceptable. Little noisy in there, but no big deal.
Will go back.
Have been wanting to visit for years. Came to town to visit the Catawba Science Center with my daughter and had some time to kill prior to it opening at 1pm. Went in for a few beers and was well taken care of by Olivia. Was not hungry but saw some delicious looking food go by for other patrons. Will have to eat next time i visit.
