I have had the privilege & pleasure of knowing the owner & his wife for many years. Have watched their children grow up.
We make it a point to dine at SUMELA RESTURANT at least once a month. Many great items to choose from. Your basic burger to something exotic. Two of our favorites are the Spinach turnovers & Baked Ziti. Yum yum. Spring thru fall can make for a very nice for dinner out on the paterned brick partially enclosed covered patio. Staff is always very nice, & prompt fast service is guarante!ed. Even during our biannual furniture markets.

Come to high point every day and found this place on urban spoon. Excellent. Had the shrimp kabob and the healthy wrap. About to try the home made baklava. Yum!

Quality and Fresh Food. We stumbled upon Sumela randomly, hoping for a quick healthy lunch. The restaurant is hidden in a little shopping center so it's easy to miss, but it's a great little neighborhood eatery. The food was fresh and well made. It's rare that you find Turkish selections in High Point, so it's a unique place to try. If you're not feeling exotic, the greek and deli menu is extensive, and well priced. For lunch, the service was quick and friendly. My only complaint was the meat in my wrap was a little skimpy, but the flavors made up for that.

A long-time favorite. We've been going to Sumela's since it was still named Main Street Grill. We've always enjoyed the food, the prices are reasonable, and the staff is always friendly and accommodating. As vegetarians, we find Meditarranean food to be a safe bet, and Sumela's doesn't disappoint, with good falafel, tasty egglant subs, and the best red lentil soup I've ever had. The atmosphere is low-key and simple, very much like a diner, so you can kick back and relax.

Main Street Grill is now SUMELA'S. Sumela's (formerly Main Street Grill) specializes in Turkish, Greek and other Mediterranean cuisines. The owner, Matt, is friendly and gracious, seems to know everyone, and makes it feel like a real neighborhood place (which, happily, it is- for me). The food is delicious! Best hummus in town, terrific Greek salad (I always add chicken), gyros, falafel, and even Turkish pizza (which I highly recommend). The regular waitresses, Caitlyn and Anna, are very attentive and efficient. Outdoor dining available. Very reasonable prices. Give it a try.
