Absolutely stellar sushi with generous portions at a fair price. If friendly and cheerful service brings you to a place, you've got it here in spades, but personally, I'm all about the fish. This has become my new go-to sushi restaurant in Highland Park. For how prominent the location is, it's a bit unsuspecting. FYI, the new staff kept the name and location but little else from the original place. Give it another try if, like me, you weren't blown away way back when it first opened. Lunch specials are solid, mid-range on price, solid on quality and really excels in nigiri/sashimi piece size. You won't leave hungry if you order right. For dinner, there are sake and maki specials on certain days. I've only been for dinner once, but I recommend the boat for two based on contents alone (though probably not if you're in a rush, given the work that goes into the presentation).

DELICIOUS FOOD! I took my fiancée here the other night and my gosh, it was marvelous! Usually we go to Sushi Kushi Too which is the other sushi restaurant in town, however, this is our new spot. The service at the other restaurant lacks, but at Tomo, FABULOUS! Well attentive and excellent quality food. Good prices as well.

This was our first time to Tomo. We usually go to Sushi Kushi for Japanese, since we live in Lake Forest, but I am glad we went to Tomo. I loved the sushi and felt their tempura was really well done. Crisp and not greasy. My husband had the ramen, which was ok. We are Ramen snobs, so it was just ok for us. My daughter loved the Udon. I felt compared to Sushi Kushi, the food was a bit more subtle (not too salty) and refined in flavor. The salad dressing, Udon and Chicken Terriyaki (BBQ sauce) were on the sweet side. Just an observation. We will be back.

Excellent and consistent sushi in downtown Highland Park. I am particularly a fan of the specialty sushi, the hot ones and the roll with the gioza are superb. Monday night has half price specialty rolls. Location near the train makes this uber convenient.

This is honestly the best sushi in Chicago. I've been to all the sushi restaurants on the north shore and this is by far the best quality fish and menu. I am so thrilled it has opened and we get to enjoy their delicious sushi. Highly highly recommend!!

Specialty rolls are delicious. Their lunch discount is not much of a discount and the regular rolls are mediocre. It is nice that they give you soup and edamame.

Great outside seating. Fire Pit. Especially during the summer. Love their signature rolls and their wide selection of Sakes and Wine. Excellent customer service. Overall, love this place.
