Enjoyed a delicious meal of fresh fish overlooking actual fish ponds. Service was excellent. Nathan was very attentive. Everything we ordered was perfect. Especially liked the homemade bread pudding with vanilla ice cream for dessert.

Such a lovely dinner. My brother and I dined with a gorgeous sunset and he had shrimp rolls seen here. I feasted on Blackened Ahi and took home their bread pudding and ice cream…it almost made it home 🤭😍 I live here and have waited too long to enjoy this blessing! It’s not just dinner- it’s a package ✔️the delicacies/ the service /the prices / the sunset/ the reflections on the water /again the sumptuous meal/mai tais or cocktails or..your drink/ birds flying and swimming peacefully… dreamy 💫thank you #bigislandgem💎

This little restaurant is a hidden jewel and blessing to the Big Island. I STRONGLY recommend to anyone needing a place to eat that is reasonably priced and of generous portions, MAKE A RESERVATION, and getting here for an absolutely delicious meal! This is on another level. My wife and I shared the calamari appetizer and they were unlike anything I have ever had before. The texture was like fine steak, & of generous portion. The attached pic is is Mahi Mahi, crusted with macadamia nut and panko crumbs, buttered squash and zucchini with the finest brown rice I’ve ever consumed. Our waiter was very helpful, interested and professional. This supper was more an extraordinary culinary experience. To the owners, chef and wait staff…THANK YOU!

Eat while watching Koi, ducks, and other animals from your table. Service was great and the food amazing. Definitely one of the best Short Ribs I've ever had and certainly the best on all of the islands we tried.

Great location and great food. I went for one of the waitress’s recommendations and ordered the Chinese style steamed fish and it was delicious.

Seaside is a tremendously charming little restaurant. Built in a converted house, they offer some absolutely fabulous food and cocktails. The teriyaki butterfish was perfectly crispy on the outside and flaky and moist on the inside. The mashed potatoes were light and flavorful, and the veggies were sautéed deceptively well given their unimpressive appearance. The Mai Tai was a tad on the sweet side, but not really a bad thing and overall quite enjoyable. The lilikoi lemon drop was also fantastic. Everyone here is super nice, and it's definitely worth a visit for a nice night out.

Friendly local family restaurant. The building feels like a former bay house repurposed into a restaurant, giving the place a lot of character and charm. The relaxed atmosphere is in that sweet spot between too casual and too refined pretentious. The view at sunset over the water was great! The service staff was friendly and helpful. Fresh catch mahi-mahi was cooked perfectly and tasted great. Locally sourced mushrooms were also very tasty. My Wife tried the California sushi roll and found it "OK". Prices were neither cheap nor steep, so our bill was reasonable In all the fresh ingredients, good chefs and great service made this a place we want to visit again.

Wonderful local restaurant. Modest looking place out and inside but don't let that stop you from tasting the most delicious food you will have in Hilo. Service was fast and staff were helpful and attentive. 100% recommended. Chilean seabas, Salmon with mushroom sauce were delicious, and their signature dessert the bread putting with icecream and coconut sauce were fantastic.

This restaurant really is a local favorite. They are known for their Hawaiian food. "The home of the 1 lb. Laulau. It is juicy, an is cooked to perfection. It is available on a plate called the "Kanak Attack". You get a real taste of a Hawaiian meal. Laulau, poi, Lomi salmon, haupia, macaroni salad, kalua pig. Yes, this is a local crowd pleaser. The portion is big. The great thing about this restaurant is that they offer healthy choices. You can substitute the starches for a green salad with your choice of dressing. You can have opitions for chicken laulau instead of pork. This restaurant boasts breakfast most of the day. Featuring such local favorites as fried rice, loco moco & more. You can go on line an see each favorite item with full descriptions so you kind of know what you would love to try. Daily specials make it even harder to choose. Give this place a try. I am sure you will love it.

Amazing but affordable seafood! We were so happy with the Chinese style steam fish, delicious snow crab and hamachi kama. Four hamachi kama was only $14!

I really enjoyed The Seaside Restaurant and Aqua Farm. The restaurant is right next to a body of water, so I’m told. I went at night so i couldn’t tell you what the view is like. But what I can tell you is that the food at Seaside is good and quite delicious. I did a little bit of research and ordered the most popular dishes and the internet hive mind did not disappoint. I started with their signature Mai Tai which was nicely mixed. For my appetizer I went with the cheesy escargot. Normally escargot is served with lots of butter. At Seaside it’s buttery but topped with cheese and served with toasted bread. It was excellent. For my entree I went with the Aholehole with a soup upgrade. The soup was calm chowder, which was good but I’ve had better. The Aholehole on the other hand was great. It’s lightly battered, seasoned with salt and fried. It’s served with rice and vegetables, a wedge of lemon and daikon. I would suggest asking for extra lemon wedges since you only get one. Aholehole has a delicate taste so the lemon and salt makes it work. But I will warn you that it can be difficult to eat. It’s not deboned so because when eating it. Thankfully the bones are easy to pick out. After my entree I ordered the bread pudding with ice cream. Again I’ve had better bread pudding but Seaside’s bread pudding is tasty. They add taro so it gives it a different texture. Overall I really enjoyed Seaside Restaurant and Aqua Farm. I would definitely go there again.

Wonderful location, spectacular sunset, good food. This restaurant has the potential to be truly five star but they tend to take a “good enough” attitude towards the details. The silverware is diner quality, glass topped tables are easy to clean rather than fine linen. The quality of the dishes served generally outshines the accoutrements. Do not order the coffee, it’s Hawai’i Island quality. The servers are wonderful so please take care of them with your tips.

Summary: great food, very slow service. Tried the sushi (sashimi and rolls), fried aholehole, and macadamia encrusted mahi. Sushi was top marks, mahi was excellent, and aholehole was good, just not what I was expecting. Drinks were good, at local prices ($12 for a cocktail), and I was pleased to find Longboard on tap. The atmosphere was what you would expect from a historic establishment like this: no frills and charming in its own, unique way. This is a place where you eating amazing sushi and buy the cool t-shirt on the way out (check them out… they’re cool and $18). My real problem was with the slow and inconsistent service. Some items, like those out of the fryer (calamari strips for the keiki) came out almost immediately. Anything from the raw bar took seemingly forever. Order sushi and hot meals? Prepare for your hot meals to come out after sitting under the heat lamp for a bit while the sushi is getting prepped. I suppose you could chalk up the service miss to the COVID labor problem. My solution: order two drinks instead of one right away and drink through any impatient impulses you may lean towards. The service miss was not a reason to avoid the OG atmosphere and tasty eats.
