First time coming to HHI, this was our 1st stop and I must say the food is delicious came out fast no wait the mussels were amazing!!!!!! The owner was very polite and with it being Veterans Day weekend we also got military discount
Good service, great food. We went before the evening crowd and got right in with 2 kids. Food came out fast and was excellent. Kiddos enjoyed the homemade ketchup with their tots.
Excellent seafood for a great price. Loved the shrimp and oyster basket. Be sure to start with some onion rings that were a generous portion.
Reasonably priced, big menu with a lot of options, good portions and excellent food. Some of the best fried seafood I've had. The service was a little slow but we sat at the bar and arrived about 20 mins before the kitchen closed. The bar tender was friendly and food was well worth the wait.
Food was excellent. My family of 4 all had excellent meals. My blackened mahi-mahi paired with scallops was in line with the fresh mahi i get in the Keys. However, the service is not good at all. 3 waitress for entire reatraunt and a little overwhelmed. No drink refills (it actually states on menu "1 deink refill per customer"), long wait for food.
A locals kind of seafood place. We ordered basket s of fish and chips and clam strips. Food was excellent, portions good sized for $12ish. We finished it off with Key Lime Pie. Not much to look at from outside, plenty of room inside and out. Give it a try you'll like it.
So far we have eaten at Black Marlin, Frankie Bones and Sea Shack. Everyone in the family agreed that Dry Dock has been the best hands down. Everything we got was great, hushpuppies were awesome. Just go, you won't be disappointed
Service was great and the food was good. We had crab legs, they were a little over done, but that was our only complaint. 2lbs for $24.50 which was a steal, best price on the island. The place was really quiet for lunch time but the food was still really solid.
Sat at the bar for dinner. Food was ok nothing great! Bartender was great made good drinks and had great personality. We were there during the off season so the place was virtually empty.
Went recently and was surprised that it didn't seem very busy for a Saturday night. Glad that it didn't stop us from going in. Wife and I split some fried green tomatoes and both had fish and chips. Everything was good, even the fried green tomatoes which are something that I do not normally enjoy.
Enjoyed this place last night!
Our waiter was phenomenal.
The Husband ordered fish and chips and loved it. I ordered a Philly and I must say it was the best philly I've ever had.
I highly recommend this restaurant.
We ate at DryDocks last night and had a really great experience. The service was excellent, the staff was very friendly and checked on us often. The food was also really good and we definitely will come again.
Shrimp and grouper was on point, the side dishes and appetizer was great. Service was great. Waiter gave great recommendations. Local spot well hidden from the hustle of the tourist areas. Will be coming back.
This is a local favorite. Find the DryDock- just down the road from Harris Teeter. There are two parking lots. Don't let the building fool you. Good, fresh, flavorful food is inside this hidden gem. Indoor and outdoor seating. Ultra Casual and kid friendly. Come after a day at the beach. You will not be sorry!
((Try the She-Crab Soup))
The food was fabulous!!! I would recommend the Mahi Mahi Grilled! Others in my group had it blackened and jerked and they loved it too! Enjoy!
I would recommend the blackened grouper sandwich and loaded French fries app. Both great! Blackened shrimp app was good but a little overdone. Good service.
One of my best experiences at a restaurant. The service here is unbeatable. The woman who served us was so sweet and willing to give us anything we wanted. We ate the huge bowl of fries covered in delicious balsamic vinegar and cheese and by the time our food came, we were stuffed. I saw the fries on my plate with the rest of my food and groaned a little, just having eaten my weight in those balsamic vinegar fries. She immediately started offering me other options and was going to go back and completely remake my dinner so that it was exactly to my liking. Of course I refused and proceeded to eat my oysters, but it was so sweet of her to offer. We will come back every time we come to Hilton Head. I encourage others to do the same.
Awesome, fun place.. We were served by one of the owner's, Vickie! She was soooooo awesome. The food was fantastic. Both of us got Vickie's Grouper. Yum! Beer was nice and cold. Give it a try.

One of my favorite meals in Hilton Head. You could go somewhere else and pay more for the same food. Our waitress was attentive and friendly. I ordered fried shrimp, Mac and cheese, and hush puppies. My partner got grilled grouper. The fish was nicely seasoned and flakey. The shrimp litely dusted. Perfect. The sides were good.
This is a well kept secret - difficult to find but worth it. Vickie's fish dinner was awesome with fresh grouper. The service was great.
A hidden treasure. Great food and service. The scallops were excellent and the grouper was out of this world. We will be back.
Dry Dock a Sure Hit!. We actually found this restaurant by accident but were thrilled with our "discovery!" After seeing the line at "highly recommended" Sea Shack, we drove around and came across Dry Dock. It looked almost like a local hangout with several people enjoying the bar when we arrived. We were seated immediately and the wait staff was at our beck and call from there on out. We had 3 seafood dishes including pan seared scallops and a spicy shrimp dish. Everything was excellent!! In fact, we went to Sea Shack the next day and there was no comparison to Dry Dock. It turned out to be the best restaurant we found during our entire trip. AWESOME!!
Second visit here and everyone had a great experience. The fish and chips were fantastic! Great service, too!
Hard to find, but worth it! Fish and chips breaded lightly and fried to crisp perfection. Delicious hushpuppies. We really felt like we had a local treat. Grilled shrimp and a generous tasty kid's burger rounded out the meal. We thoroughly enjoyed our lunch here.
Neat place, the food is very reasonably priced compared to other resteraunts in the area that serve the same thing. Shuffleboard is fun and the owner is a nice guy.
Incredibly Awesome! Will drive the 50 miles to eat here again!!
Great seafood, under appreciated spot off of Pope Ave near the Harris Teeter..the family all agrees that DD beats the Seafood Shack and the Salty Dog Cafe cold! I had the fish and chips but made a substitution with onion rings, what a good call..DD uses Grouper got their fish and it was delicious plus generous at an extremely good price
A good and local dive bar and restaurant off the beaten path. The seafood is good and they have a nice mix of draft beers. Dining room looks a bit small but there is an inside and outside bar. The boiler pot was good, it had more in it than I thought so that's always a bonus. The Philly cheesesteak is really good as well if not looking for seafood. I really liked this place and I plan on going back.
Good food! Just add about $3-4 to the current menu on this sight. The grouper dinner was $18 instead of $13 on the menu posted on here. Very large portion though so still a good deal.

Food and service were great. Small and local.
One of the best seafood restaurants in hhi. Great apps and some of the best grouper. The best French fries I've ever had. Its a little of the beaten path, but its totally worth it.
Service was friendly and efficient, food was delicious and portions generous, price was reasonable. Highly recommend.
Great local treasure, staff outstanding and very friendly, Vickie's grouper! A+
Mahi sliders were good. Did not care for the BBQ sauce on the appetizer mahi bites. Prices very reasonable for the island. All dressings homemade...even homemade ketchup! Difficult to find at night. More bar-like than family-friendly. Service very good.
Best fish & chips. This was off the beaten path, and wasn't sure when we arrived. Surprise surprise, what a hidden gem. Ordered the fish and chips. Everything came piping hot. Chips homemade, fish had a superb dry batter, no grease. Grouper, moist and flaky.
Highly recommend.
Fantastic. Service was some of the best I've had anywhere (Vickie). Food was simply amazing (fried grouper, BBQ Mahi bites, lowcountry stew) and prices were very reasonable. We all agreed it was our favorite place to eat on the island. Well worth the stop!
Great find. Super yummy. We had the Lowcountry Fisherman's Stew, Fried Seafood Platter and She Crab Soup. The soup was delicious even though our waiter dropped our wrapped crackers in it (he was really nice though!). The seafood platter came on a plate that was at least 20 inches long and everything on it was excellent, along with exceptional hush puppies. The Fisherman's stew was phenomenal. They use their gumbo as a base and load it wIth a heaping amount of seafood sided by some garlic bread to sop it up. Maybe not the dish for someone who doesn't like salty food though!
This is our first time in Hilton Head and found this restaurant on Urbanspoon. What a great place. The food was amazing and Devyn provided fabulous service. We will definitely tell friends about Drydock!

Great Food. There were 7 of us and we read the reviews here and decided to give it a try..so glad we did. Between us we had everything from burgers to mahi mahi to steam pot of seafood and everything was great and service was wonderful..highly recommend this hideaway grill!
Had dinner their last night based on the great reviews on urbanspoon. It was great! Definitely a local place and, being that it was a Monday, it was fairly empty. Starting of we had Grover's fries which were awesome and then the shrimp fritters which we all ( wife and kids) dug into. I had the blackened scallop po boy and my wife had the grilled grouper caesar salad. Both meals were awesome. Also there is great deck we sat on in the back which helped with the atmosphere. Definitely recommend this place
MOST excellent food on HHI!. When the place is covered up with locals, you know you've found THE spot! Had lunch (grilled scollops-fantastic!) which was such a delight, returned for dinner. Great beers on tap and great staff. Peter is the man. Say no more, right?
Some say, it's hard to find; some must be navigationally challenged...look for the red and blue umbrellas...you'll be glad you did. And save room for THE Key Lime Pie...better than the Key Lime pie we had in the Keys...really.
Amazing food! We had the blackened sea scallops, fishermans stew, gumbo, snow crabs legs, and the ultimate BLT. Everything was absolutely delicious. Vickie (co-owner with Rob) treats you like an old friend when you walk through the door. The locals seem to gather there which means no screaming kids and stressed out parents like the overcrowded grill/ice cream place down the street. I wish there was a place like this in my neighborhood.
A delicious local find. Friendly regulars and staff. Food is great!! I highly suggest the mussels in a garlic butter and wine sauce. Phenomenal.
Grover Fries Addiction. Well, my daughter has talked nonstop about the Grover Fries since we vacationed at Hilton Head in March. Hence, it is now June and I'm attempting to make a homemade version of Grover Fries since driving 800+ miles for fries is out of the realm of possibility right now. These fries are THAT GOOD! In fact, everything that we dined on that evening was fantastic! Really, really good food. Period. We'll be back, and have some Grover Fries waiting for us.....
While this small locals restaurant looks odd in its office building, the atmosphere is anything but stuffy. The staff is friendly and attentive while the food is caught fresh and prepared to perfection! The grover fries are amazing and the seafood tastes like it just hopped into the plate. It's a little bit off the beaten path but definitely worth the trip (and a return trip!)
Great food! Catered to our Granddaughters. We went to DryDock for the first time last night and was greeted by Vickie, who was extremely friendly. We had our children and 2 young granddaughters with us. Vickie recommended that we would be more comfortable inside, which I totally agreed with her. We couldn't have chosen a better place to go for dinner for the family. The reasonably priced food was extremely good. The crab dip was the best I've ever eaten. The appetizer shrimp were fresh and delicious. Two of us had the half rack of ribs which was more than enough to fill us.
My husband had the Cheeseburger and onion straws - they were both GREAT! Vickie was very accomodating to our Granddaughter's needs. This is truly a hidden treasure! We will be back for sure!
Vickie choice is the best. Loved it
Grover Fries. I'm pretty sure that was the name. These are worth the trip to Drydock all by themselves...
Hand cut french fries smothered in blue cheese, bacon, scallions and a balsamic vinegrette. Big enough for two to share.
Wow!
Great cheeseburger sliders (great shared with the Grover Fries!), pulled pork and BBQ mahi mahi bites too!
Don't miss this hidden restaurant with a great outdoor bar!
Jeff
Outstanding Food. Both the fried and grilled seafood were the best I've had as was the seafood dip (a meal in itself). Didn't expect that great food from a bar. Great service, bar atmosphere (that means sometimes noisy), extra large servings and great service. A little hard to find but well worth it.
To Tell you the other part of the story. The review "Shockingly Poor Attitudes" That was written on November 21, 2011 I would like to tell you the other side of the story. I work at the Dry Dock and was there that night. The customers who wanted to see the Atlanta Falcon game was told he could see the game and the waitress got me to change the channel for them I went right over to change the channel, well the customer could not wait a minute so he pickup a remote control and started pushing buttons and screwed up that TV for the rest of the night so we had one less TV for our customers. Then just got up and walked away did not even say he was sorry I really have a problem with customers like this that try to make us out as the bad guys when they are the problem. Please read all our other reviews and see we are a great place to eat drink and watch the game.
We really liked this place. Pizza, jerk chicken and onion rings rocked. Service was awesome.
Best fried grouper sandwich!. My husband ordered the fried grouper sandwich here and it was out of this world. The fish was very fresh and the batter actually had a great flavor to it. The best part was that it wasn't greasy at all. It came on a white bun with American cheese. I personally liked it better without the cheese, but my husband preferred it with it. I ended up eating most of his meal since mine wasn't as good. I got the barbequed mahi-mahi basket and it was pretty boring.
We also ordered their fall special appetizer of crab/shrimp & artichoke dip and it was way too heavy for me, but my husband loved it. I wish that I would have been able to taste more shellfish and vegetables in it and less cheese.
The wait staff was very friendly and on top of things. The food seemed to be a little slow coming out, but I know that I am rather inpatient in general, so take that comment with a grain of salt.
The location is very tricky to find. It is in a business type plaza. It is diagonally facing the left back side of the CVS building (i.e. further away from the stoplight). After driving around for a long time, we saw some colored umbrellas and an outside bar and finally realized that this was where the restaurant was located. From the road, it looked like an office park employee restaurant, not a regular restaurant if that makes sense. The sign for DryDock itself was very small, so you actually had to drive up to it to see it. I remember that there was also a nail place in the plaza, but I don't remember the name of it. I would suggest calling DryDock for specific directions before you drive over to it to save yourself some time.
Would eat there tonight for dinner!!!. Excellent food!! Friendly bartender. Prompt service. Grovers fries a must have!! Fresh cut French fries with blue cheese, feta cheese, green onion, bacon bits, and drizzles of balsamic reduction......GENIUS!!!
Really good "local" restaurant. You will not be disappointed! It's the first place my wife and I go when we visit Hilton Head!
Nice little find. Great food and great service and fairly inexpensive. We had the shrimp and grouper baskets, and the kids had chili and chicken fingers. Everything was great. The onion strings are amazing.
Very nice!. We went to DryDock based on other Urbanspoon reviews and were not disappointed!
No printed kids menu, but plenty of options if you ask. Service was fast and (kid) friendly - they had the presence of mind to leave the knife out of our kids' silverware bundle! The food was delicious, and there was plenty of it.
Overall we were very happy with our meal and the service we received!
Great Time!. We found DryDock on UrbanSpoon and were pleased we did. We called ahead and told them we had 4 adults and 3 kids, and they told us to come right over. We had a smaller room all to ourselves, and the food was great! Our party ate a variety of food...Seafood gumbo, grouper sandwich, BBQ'd Mahi Mahi bites, fried oysters, pulled pork pizza, etc. Don't get me wrong...the atmosphere is a bit "smaller" than most HHI tourist restaurants, the sort of bar/restaurant that locals would frequent. Still, they had a nice dining area, bars inside and out on the deck, and the smaller room we had that could seat probably 14 at 3 tables. Apparently, DryDock has been around HHI for many years although we certainly hadn't heard of it, and is owned by a husband and wife. He cooks and she was our waitress. If you'd like to try something new on your vacation and you don't mind a less touristy dining experience, do yourself a favor and check it out.
Hidden treasure of the Island. When we were looking for the place I thought we were in the wrong place (looked like an commercial parkway). I was happy to find that we were in the correct place. Went for lunch and had the gumbo (awesome), mahi mahi bbq bites (great), and the grilled grouper sandwich (fantastic). Everything we ate there was great, and the bartender was very nice. They also have an outdoor tiki bar, but it wasn't open when we were there for lunch. There wasn't a big crowd for lunch, but I could see the place getting packed in the evening.
All Around Good. Just a laid back place with good food and good drink. We sat on the deck, had a couple drinks and a very good dinner (shrimp scampi pizza & seafood platter). I would recommend both. After dinner we had an excellent dessert which could have been the best part of the meal (low country pie). This is the place to go if you are looking for a no frills place to relax and enjoy an evening out with the family or just two of you.
For sure, HANDS DOWN our favorite place to eat while in Hilton Head. Our first night here this was where we came. We have gone to a different place every night and DryDocks will be the one place we will go back to again. The Grouper and Scallops were sooooo good. The cornbread was moist and sweet. The baked beans were very unique and good. And the cole slaw was some of the best I've ever had. Ever. This place definitely did not disappoint. And I'm kind of a food snob. Not like, "everything has to be gourmet" food snob...but "I just know good food" type of food snob. :) The prices were also very reasonable too. Go here. You won't be disappointed. I promise.
Outstanding food at a very reasonable price. The owner is from Philly so the rolls were perfect. I enjoyed the Poboy and the mussels in white are perfect!
The best food we've had on Hilton Head in 7 years! The gumbo and seafood platters were superb but all meals were delicous. The service was personal and we can't wait to go back.
Good food. Seafood sandwiches are great Way off beaten path! Hope they make it. Had a great band....Sway.
This place has amazing food! The service was outstanding (the owner was our waitress). You will not leave there with an empty belly or wallet!
Fantastic food, fantastic service, all for a reasonable price. Can't wait to come back.

Friendly local place. Great place to get your drink on!
"Good food is always hard to find!" it's their motto and it holds true. Difficult to find but absolutely worth it. Great local atmosphere, excellent fish and ribs. They'll know you're not a local when you walk in, but they're happy to have you. Eat here.
Local, great bar, fantastic bar food. Hard to find (perhaps that's a good thing). Would definitely go again!
Great experience at Drydock. Our waitress was so sweet and personable. The food was delicious and not over priced. Excellent grouper fish and chips!
This restaurant/bar is a great place to eat & drink if you don't want to break the bank. From the moment you step in you feel welcomed like the show cheers. I asked Cliff the bar keeper for recommendations on a sandwich & it was fantastic!!!! Yes I got to watch baseball game & other sports events while eating.
Sit down tables are great. Nicely scattered around the restaurant. Highly recommend for the sports friendly atmosphere. Thank you Olivia for recommending this great hidden gem.
We were looking for a place to eat and everything was closing so we decided to go out and walk around we saw drydock that was still open.. we went in and was met with a lady that greeted us at the door very friendly and nice.. considering it was an hr to closing time.. she made up feel welcome with an awesome attitude... the food was fast and very delicious.. I would recommend this place to everyone a 10 out of 10... I will come back next time...
Finding a good meal that won’t break the bank is a challenge on Hilton Head for sure. We did find one though here at Drydock. We had the fried green tomatoes, a burger and a grouper sandwich. All were very tasty and came out nice and hot. The service was very good and we felt very well taken care of. We will definitely come back again.

My mom and I went there around 2:30 on Sunday. To be completely honest, I was a little worried when I walked in and the place was empty besides a few sitting at the bar watching the game. The bartender welcomed us and in and allowed us to seat ourselves. We were able to order off the whole menu, even though it wasn’t technically dinner time, which was nice. We started with a soft pretzel with beer butter, which was really good. I had the fried seafood platter and my mom had the grilled grouper. The food was so fresh and came out very quickly. The hush puppies were soft and fried shrimp firm and not soggy. The bartender kept our drinks full and was very personable. Overall, a good, low key place to get some good food.
This was a good place to take the family out to dinner. The Sea food steam pot and mahi tacos were good. My kids all liked their sandwiches. They really liked the onion rings and tater tots.
Clean open space. Nice lighting and on theme decor. It does have a 2 sided bar with lots of TV so it is not a quiet dinning experience but the noise is not loud enough to disrupt conversation in the booth area. The wait staff were extremely friendly and prompt with drinks and service. Wonderful customer experience.
The blue crab dip was amazing. Warm, creamy and full or large chucks of crab. Properly seasoned and delicious. Due to dietary restrictions I was unable to eat the tortilla chips that it is served with but they substituted those for celery sticks which was a perfect alternative.
For the main course I had the ahi tuna dinner with steamed broccoli. The broccoli was properly cooked and still had a bite to the stems. It was however not seasoned but was fixed quickly with a dash of salt. The wasabi sauce was mellow and a delicious addition to both the broccoli and the tuna. I ordered the tuna grilled and medium. The cook and seasoning was on point but unfortunately it was only just above room temperature, it feels like the fillet was cooked prior and just reheated on order. I hope that’s not the case but it was a huge disappointment as it was cooked and seasoned perfectly.
Both plates were served with a pointless tiny pile of cabbage (clearly out of a slaw mix with no dressing) with a few chunks of tomato. It was pointless and unappetizing. Leave it off! The plate was also dusted with creole seasoning which was also pointless. I’m not sure if these additions were to add interest or a pop of color to the plate but I’d rather a clean plate than one with inedible dust and pile of undressed, unseasoned veg.
We walked in and were a little uncertain to see empty tables but we walked out with full, happy bellies and smiles on our faces. We had a burger, shrimp burger and beers- and ours kids enjoyed the choices on the kids menu- everybody loved their food! We enjoyed the atmosphere, more bar-like than not, and our kids enjoyed playing shuffleboard. If you want a laid back delicious meal, where the food comes out quickly and the beers are cold, definitely go- we were so glad we did!
If you want a slice of local HHI, you have to hit Drydock. It's not fancy, it's not corporate, it's simply the best of the island with a come-as-you-are atmosphere. Kid friendly, too! Ask for Emily if you want great service and cocktails.
Very nice place to relax and have a good meal, food was delicious and the ribs were flavorful and melte in your mouth, coctails were right on, definitely a thumbs up
First time at Drydock. Great comfortable atmosphere. Felt right at home. Food was amazing. Absolutely best meal I’ve had in a week on the island. Simple no frills, home town bar feel. Highly recommend. Even the bread was perfectly fresh! Very impressed. Will be back many times.
COME EAT HERE!!! Friendly bar that doesn't skimp on the liquor and has seven TVs alomg with local patrons and a bartender that remind me of Cheers. A restaurant that I don't want to leave. The server was always available and acted more like a friendly aunt than staff. The fried seafood platter came out in a one foot long, two foot wide plate and filled my brother until he had to push it away. In his opinion, it was the best seafood platter that he has ever eaten and was clearly fresh. The owner, Mr. Mustache, is like a lovable uncle, and again reminds me of Cheers. He is from Philadelphia, and makes a truly authentic and delicious Philly Cheesesteak, the best I've ever had. The REAL skin on French fries are also crisp and flavorful as well. The only downside is that you are warned to come early. Before 7:00 the restaurant is calm with only a few locals at the bar and one or two groups of diners. After 7:00 it starts to fill up and becomes packed quickly. If not for them moving locations, it would be packed all of the time. Visit, you will not regret it. Both their prices and portions are very satisfying.
My husband and I went in on a Sunday right before 5 p.m. Great atmosphere. Our server, Emily, was excellent...friendly and attentive. She suggested the Mahi tacos with Cole slaw added to them. I had mine grilled and requested the Cole slaw. They were excellent! My husband had the Philly cheesesteak and fries, and said that was very good. We shared a HUGE apple brown Betty for dessert...also excellent. It was a great experience all the way around.
Food is fantastic! What really makes the place though is the staff. Piper and Emily are some of the best in the business. Miss Sean working there he was great as well!
My husband and I got the monster burger which comes with bacon, pimento cheese and onion rings on it. It was cooked to perfection and was quite generous. We got the onion rings which were just how I like them battered thin rings and fried to perfection. We also got hushpuppies which were good and macaroni and cheese. Our server was attentive and polite. The atmosphere is odd in that the bar side looks like a good time and the restaurant side looks like they haven't figured out what they want to be. But come here anyway because the food is delicious and quite reasonably priced.
Very courteous staff. Service was fast. Mixed drink was good.....generous with alcohol. Fried oysters were good, fish and chips OK. Fries were good, Tater Tots were excellent.
The prices are great for the serving size!! The bartender and the server were very insightful about recommendations and they lived up to the hype! Highly highly recommend this cute place and their friendly staff!
