Mmmm Custard. I love the plain vanilla custard here. It is super smooth and delicious.
No seating?. I grew up frequenting the Bountiful location, but went to the Holiday spot a few days ago for the first time and we found it incredibly odd that the only place to sit in the entire joint was a giant bench outside. No picnic tables or anything, just a big, awkward bench. The custard is still amazing, though. It would just be nice to eat it at a table.

Frozen Custard. Who knew.. Nielsen's does frozen custard (a denser and smoother form of ice cream) pretty darn well. They're signature creation is called concrete. It's essentially frozen custard made into a shake. Concretes come in two basic flavors: vanilla and chocolate. I had a vanilla concrete with strawberries.
The richness of the frozen custard made it silky smooth on the tongue. Meanwhile, the acid in the fresh cut strawberries (as opposed to those pitiful frozen or canned strawberries used so often) cut through the fat in the custard and provided an nice contrast of flavors. Our regular concrete costs about $5. A mini costs around $3.50. Reasonable price for a product that will make you think twice about going back to yet another ol' ice cream cone.
(Note: Nielsen's has a good vibe to it. It was populated by numerous families playing together, which made my son happy. Also, the workers are all teenagers. In all the times I've been to Nielsen's, never an adult I've seen. But, hey, with stuff this good who needs grownups.)
Creamy and delicious!. I'm sorry but Arctic Circle has absolutely nothing on this place. The creaminess and flavor of Nielsen's just can't be beat. I avoided this place for years for some stupid reason. Maybe it was the long lines of mini vans full of screaming kids. Little did I know what I was missing out on. If you want the simple, boring flavors of chocolate or vanilla, this place isn't for you. It is all the mix-ins that give these its flavor. It's malt shop heaven. Their Chocolate Malted Almond and Cherry Chocolate Chip are simply ADDICTIVE.
The frozen custard is worth dealing with the consistently terrible service!
Bring Cash. It is the oddest thing - they don't take credit cards!?! So hit the ATM first so you don't leave confused and hungry. Delicious custard - nothing really compares. Customer service in St. George and Bountiful are much better than in Salt Lake. Manager should probably be fired at the Holladay location.

The business was recently vandalized and robbed, which explained the broken glass door and boarded up areas. I wanted bumbleberry but settled on raspberry because they were out of it.

Had the chance to enjoy frozen custard while in town. Holy moly this was so good. Sis got flavor of the day, wife got chocolate, I got a hot fudge sundae.

If you have never had it you gotta stop what you're doing and go! Its so creamy soft and just right amount of sweet.
Their custard is also super reasonably priced. Just be sure when you to the highland location during busy hours to be prepared to wait. The line can stack up down 33rd south.
