A wonderful hideaway off the high-a-way. Great Tex-Mex with their own flair. Lots of different food options and combos, margaritas that flow like water, and waitstaff that is world class. I know people think “authentic” Mexican is the only type that can be delicious, but if your heart is in it, and you care about your customers, anything can be grand.
My plate got switched with someone else's. They remade both and offered to comp it which I said no cause it's not a bad deal. When I got my food it was very good and hot. Server was great even under pressure.
When I we got our food I was a little disappointed in how small the portions seemed, but I was proven wrong!! One menu item would be enough to fill one person and more. Very good food and free chips n dip
Overall, On the Border has overpriced, delicious food with friendly and fast service.
The chips were spectacular! Wow!
The salsa was excellent.
The soft drink choices were unsatisfyingly limited; they didn’t even offer horchata.
We were impressed with the flavor of refried beans.
The queso was complex and thick.
The classic burrito was okay.
The XX fish tacos were refreshingly delicious.
The rice was boring.
In summary, I had a high quality experience, but I think they don’t want people to eat here with how high the prices were for food.

Variety of dishes in the menu have only been twice each time was lunch time less than 10 customers each time. Food was good reasonably priced. Service was great. Not sure how it is around dinner time.
The atmosphere was very nice, brisket tacos were extremely good. Beans were a little stiff but edible. Salsa was a little spicy for me, however it was good.
We had a great time. Server was so sweet and waited on us without me having to say anything.
I love the street chicken tacos so delicious and flavorful my usual go too. Today I decided to get chicken fajitas omg so delicious. The food was steaming hot the peppers and onions gave the chicken that much more flavor. I love the rice and beans and all the toppings you get for the fajitas (lettuce,pico,guac,sour cream and cheese) and on Wednesdays like today I got all that for 9.99. best 10$ I spent in a while. And the waiter went above and beyond for us.
The white fish was amazing! Great atmosphere and decor. Stopped in for a dinner on my business trip and was very pleased. My only negative would be it is very hard to get the attention of the bartender and I ate at the bar. She was extremely nice but very busy... I think she could use a little support.
Food was really good, great proportions, pricing was decent, service was good also.
We love this place! Not only was the service great but when our server found out that I really didn't like beans or rice he suggested the Mexican Cole slaw and the fresh vegetable medley. It made the meal! I will remember that for the future
My wife and I love coming here! Friendly staff and great food. It’s always great seeing the manager helping his staff. We always see him running food or helping them clean tables.
Went for dinner upon my arrival in Holland. This restaurant did not disappoint. Great food had the Ultimate Fajitas platter enough food to split between the both of us. Came from the kitchen still sizzling on the platter. Great job from the staff serving us. Great atmosphere!
Really good food, I had the chicken fajita chimichanga. Plenty of seating for a Friday evening and prompt, friendly service. I will definitely go back!

Hmm..hard to approach this one. When I lived in NY about 15 years ago, one of my weekly visits was always to On The Border. Every Friday after work. Had the skillet queso appetizer and a couple mucho-sized LI Teas and the weekend was off to a great start! Then I moved to FL where the nearest OTB was about 3hrs away, gracias, NO. So when I moved to Holland, MI last year I was over joyed that right here in my new home town there was an On The Border!! Let the delicious queso calories roll!!! Sadly, it didn't go that way. The staff is exceptional let me say. Very friendly and welcoming. The food is just...different. Well prepared and all, but first thing I noticed is the tortilla chips have a kind of "cardboard" aftertaste if that makes any sense? The salsa is very thin, watery and unnecessarily aggressive with it's spice. I like a nice kick but this was like turning over a rock in the desert and a rattlesnake suddenly latching onto your tongue, your own defensive saliva will be the star of the dish. I ordered a combo dish which included excellent empanadas. As stated before, the food is good and fairly well prepared (if not a bit bland, but you must be cautious with spices these days so I get it) chips and salsa aside. Sadly though, it seems my beloved skillet queso, which consisted of fresh sliced peppers and onions and white queso fresco baked perfectly and served with warm tortillas and non-cardboard chips was a Friday after work treat that almost counted as weekend s*x...is no mas. Replaced by an overpriced oversized ramekin of generic out of the microwave "Nacho cheez dip(tm)" with bits of cilantro thrown in. A far cry from the lascivious pools of perfectly toasted white queso goodness and pouty lipped cheese covered chips beckoning me to dive into their caloric hellscape of my NY days. Fuhgeddaboudit, ya can't go home again as they say. Not with rent in NY being what it is. I bet even my old OTB had to head even more south OfTB .
Great service. Been looking for some great tex mex food lately finally found it. Food was mouth watering and falling apart beautifully. Well definitely being going back.
I go to OTB about 2x a month. I only go when Meagan is working. She always smiles and greets me. I love that! I sit at the bar where she workand she engaged in conversation when she not busy. She is the reason I will continue to go to OTB.
