I took my wife and family there to celebrate Mother’s Day and indeed we celebrated. The food was excellent with that five course menu! I was full. They had exceptional customer service from the time I drove in to the time we left. All touch points covered. The staff was very courteous and kind. The ambiance of the place just kept us in awe especially that spectacular view of Diamond Head and the ocean. We had a blast and my kids didn’t pay attention to me on how to dine like a diplomat. Overall 5 stars folks! We’ll be back!

I go to "53" each time I'm in Honolulu! It's always been a wonderful dining experience, the attention to detail is spot-on, food has yet to disappoint (tho' I did miss the creme brulee made in an actual coconut!!), the entrance with grand staircase and decor are beautiful and the view of the coastline and Diamond Head are gorgous!! I recommend "53" to friends living there and those traveling!! #MyFav

Very nice! Had our Anniversary there. Not cheap but well worth it. Devin, Steven, Naru and Tim were the best! They did the best I’ve ever seen. True professionals.

The best restaurant on the island. I took my mom for her 53rd Birthday lol 53 by the sea for 53rd Birthday from the time we walked in we were so welcomed and treat like VIP our waiters and waitresses were extremely nice and even took pictures of me and mum outside. All together of 10 people around us were just the most professional and excellent and so friendly! They surprised Mommy with beautiful Birthday cake and I couldn’t ask for a better restaurant to spend her birthday at. Thank you again ! You guys are the best !

Absolutely love this place! Steak shrimps and crab were all so good. The mashed potatoes as well. Great service. They gave me complimentary strawberry shortcake for my birthday too. So worth the money!

Atmosphere and service was absolutely wonderful!!! The meal was delicious and served in a timely manner. It is pricey, but definitely worth it for the quality of food and service. Highly recommend.

We enjoyed it so much. The route there had me thinking The GPS was getting me lost. But when we arrived, l was pleased. The valet was unexpected and greatly appreciated. So funny that at the end of our dinner, our car was waiting for us at the door engine running and the valet to help my wife in the car. Expensive? Yes, but we paid for the service, food, and view. Oh, the food!? I thought we would still be hungry after our meal. Never so wrong. Nice size prime rib, none of the “pinky finger” mess.

My husband took me here for our wedding anniversary, the view was amazing, food and service was even better! I am pregnant and had ordered the Filet mignon and unfortunately had to order it med well as I am usually a rare kinda girl, how ever it did not disappoint it was so juicy and flavorful I hardly noticed! Staff was incredible, mahalo for the service and experience.

Beautiful view and elegant dining. Very nice evening here. Had the prix fixe menu and all was delicious. Expensive but really a special event. Great oysters, extensive wine list, nice presentation and well prepared courses. Waitstaff very efficient and nice.

We had our eye on this place for quite some time. It was our one year wedding anniversary so we thought this was the best time to pamper ourselves. They had a preselect menu but my partner has an affinity for paring items on the menu with the available wines. The four course meal was more than enough. Every pairing we had was simply divine. The service was great, our waiter had amazing suggestion while we were building our experience. We chose sunset time for our dinner experience and the color changes did not disappoint. It's one of those experiences I wish I could have weekly.

Perfect special occasion restaurant. I was over the moon during my time here. The tables on the patio are overlooking the ocean and it’s beautiful for the sunset. Our servers were attentive and they all seem to work in pairs. The next table was offered the special while we weren’t but it didn’t sound good anyway. The bathrooms were clean. If it’s your anniversary or birthday they will provide a slice of cake on the house. The prices are that of a fine dining restaurant. I didn’t enjoy the fresh catch but the Granchio Pasta is a dish that I would want to find at every restaurant I went to. It was delicious and the scallops it contained are bigger and better than the scallops appetizer. I am forever thankful to Anjela and Karen who were our servers for the night.

Absolutely gorgeous brunch spot. The food was elevated (but not pretentious) and filling (but didn't make you bloated). I thoroughly enjoyed the ube cocktail and breakfast sandwich. The spicy ketchup (which we were told is made in-house) was incredible. Top it off with gorgeous views and great service - this place is a hit when you're on your Hawaiian vacation or just having a special moment.

We want here for our wedding dinner and absolutely stunning. We love the service. They pulled my chair out for me and put my napkin in my lap. Definitely top tier. They gave me a free drink because we had just gotten married 30 minutes before and they definitely informed us about the location and origination of all of our alcohol. I couldn't have asked for a better wedding night. I did the crab stuffed lobster and my partner did the tasting menu with the premium wine pairing. We ordered some castelli's to go and I have never been so happy in my entire life.

I went here for my husband’s birthday and our honeymoon. It was a fantastic experience from the start. The people really made the difference, but the food and the view were also fantastic. They surprised us with a birthday cake at the end. Would definitely recommend.

Hands down the best meal I've ever had. Me and my husband spent our 10 yr anniversary here tonight and the food and service was beyond our expectations. The staff was so nice! The hostess even offered to take our photo before we sat down to eat and suggested where to take the picture etc. I must've thanked the staff a million times tonight. They also gave us a free adorable dessert for our anniversary. The prices reflect the quality of the food and service. I can't get over how amazing it was, I'll be daydreaming about this experience probably for forever 😂 absolutely amazing. They really made our anniversary special!

Lovely dining experience. Tony was a great server and made the night that much more delightful. Patio seating highly recommended (though it was a bit windy), views were fantastic. I thought the tasting menu was great value at 125, I was starving before the meal and by the end could not eat another bite.

If you’re in the market for a fine dining experience with a beautiful view, look no further! 53 by the sea is by far the best dining experience me and my significant other have ever had. Not only is the food delicious, but the service is by far top notch! Not to mention the view that goes with it; it is breathtakingly beautiful! We have been here 3 times already (brunch twice, dinner once) and we will definitely be back. You don’t want to miss this spot on your Hawaii vacation.

First time dining here with my wife. We had the pork lechon and mushroom tempura as appetizers. Both were very good. My wife had the seafood coconut curry. I had the pasta with scallops and shrimp. My wife said that the curry lacked seasoning. I thought my pasta was excellent. We shared the honey lemon tart for dessert. It’s their most popular dessert, but I thought it was just ok. The service was excellent, and the atmosphere/setting was very picturesque. We sat near the opening to the patio seating area, so the wind blew in every time the staff opened the sliding door to go in/out of the patio area. All in all, a good, not great experience.

Love this venue for brunch. The menu is not overwhelming and has a good selection. The view of the water is refreshing. The service is also superb. I’ve been here twice for brunch and both times we received consistently awesome service. I heard this resto is also amazing for dinner especially during sunset and dusk. I can’t wait to eat here for dinner.

I’ve had this place on my list ever since watching Terrace House Aloha State. We ended up not having enough time a few years ago, so I made a brunch reservation for our first morning this past trip. Very glad I prioritized this restaurant finally. Gerny and his colleagues were awesome and attentive, even though we were kind of off on the edge. We had brunch on the patio. It was a bit warm for Hawaii, but the shade and the ocean breeze made it pleasant. There were lots of boats, surfers, and even turtles popping up for some air every few minutes. We aren’t drinkers, so can only speak to the mocktails, and the Sunset Cooler was phenomenal. We also started off with the fruit bowl appetizer. I, unfortunately, still hate papaya, but my partner loved it. I enjoyed every other piece of fruit in there - all incredibly fresh tasting. I had an odd craving for spaghetti and my partner ordered from the brunch menu, and we both polished our plates off as well as we could. We were stuffed, but were having such a good time we decided we had to at least try to eat dessert. We ordered a Diamond Head Canele Set to share. My favorite was the matcha, but they were all amazing. We finally ordered a pastry basket to go, and had that for breakfast the next morning. Even a day old, they were some of the best pastries we had in a very long time. If we ever make it back to Oahu, we will definitely be prioritizing another meal here.

Luxurious fine dining restaurant with seaside Vista and gorgeous view of honolulu. Right by Kewalo harbor entrance and you can watch boats transiting the channel. Great view of the Aloha Friday fireworks too if you dine in on a Friday evening. Staff are extremely courteous and friendly. Great fine dining experience.

Such a classy place! The service was spot on and the food was delicious. It is on the expensive side, but totally worth it. I got the NY strip and the honey lemon tart. Both had great flavor. We also got the scallops appetizer and they were so yummy. The view of the ocean is beautiful and the building itself is pretty. We went for a birthday and they gave us a cute plate with a message in chocolate. Would definitely recommend to anyone looking for great seafood and drinks!!

It lives up to the hype! Get in there! You may feel under-dressed if you don't show up clad to the 9s, but the food here is absolutely divine and not at all over-priced for the quality presented. I've never seen a place dripping with elegant presentation that actually lives up to its "hype level" as much as this place DID. Everyone from friends to Uber drivers recommends you get here and try the food, especially brunch. Well whether it's dinner or brunch, service is attentive and the food is absolutely delicious. Their butter is I would say a step below Michelin star, but it's so famous they let you specifically order JUST the butter as a take-away item with your food? Bizarre. Anyway, the pastries are probably top 10 I've had in the past few years and were made with absolute precision, quality, and care. The ingredients for everything are fresh and succulent and seafood certainly delights here, as it's literally on the water. The view is splendid, and it's relatively quiet both indoors and out. I would say overall the surrounding area is not that interesting and it's quite industrial; you won't be taking a casual walk around, but it doesn't matter - focus on the restaurant and really enjoy. Parking situation isn't difficult, and the service from door to table back to door is just splendid. Both locals and tourists know this place is the real deal. :) High marks from us. I had such a nice experience dined at 53 by the sea. I celebrated Christmas there so it was the holiday fixed menu. Four courses was definitely satisfied! I love the scallops appetizer, duck and the dessert! It was unforgettable experience !
