Sunday lunches can be hard to find. Many restaurant owners and managers choose to close for the Sabbath, while others bring in heavy post-church crowds. At Amigo Juan's in Hope this past Sunday, we were lucky to find a parking spot. The restaurant alongside North Hervey Street is bright and colorful, just like the three other locations (Texarkana, New Boston and Atlanta, all in Texas) and on this particular Sunday there was a ten minute wait to get in the door. We marveled at the Great Danes captured in brightly colored porcelain in the entranceway and the neverending bursts of color throughout the restaurant. It wasn't long before Grav, Hunter and I were shown to a booth, where we dallied a little before placing our appetizer order. Amigo Juan was originally opened by Sergio and Maria Rodriguez in 2003 in Texarkana. The couple fell in love when they were 16 and 15, respectively, in Chihuahua, Mexico. Shortly before they married, Sergio came to Arkansas to stay with Maria's relatives, and they decided to make a home here. Their restaurants feature family recipes and they've been quite successful, which is why there are four Amigo Juans today. We came in hungry, very hungry, and decided to order the Botanas Platter and then wait to get our own separate dishes. We were greeted with rich, fresh and chunky red salsa and bright yellow chips (there were even bright green chips, but Hunter claimed them all) which were quickly consumed. The Botanas Platter seemed a good bet, and it had a little bit of everything on it. There was a small quesadilla packed with nicely grilled chicken that had a lot of flavor to it. There were both corn tortilla taquitoes and flour tortilla
Good food and clean. Seems to b popular with locals
Amigo Juan is one of the best Mexican food places in the area. I order something different every time I eat here and have never been disappointed. Their green salsa is too delicious for words, as is their fresh strawberry punch! Highly recommended!
Always good!. In a town with 3 pretty good Mexican restaurants, there's always a debate over which one is the best. My husband prefers the more authentic one, but Amigo Juan's is my favorite. We normally order the Beef Burrito Asada with White Queso. Their lunch specials are great too. I can't say I've ever had anything that I didn't like. Their red salsa isn't my favorite, but I love the green salsa. The service is always great.
Good food and moderate prices. Fast service and friendly. Food is better than the average Mexican chains.
Completely recommend!!!. Never been disappointed when visiting here! great food! great staff! prices are reasonable! no wait time for such a small establishment even on a busy sunday or holiday.
if you are passing thru hope arkansas and want mexican food,,this is the place to stop!

It was very good... I'm from Texas and was raised on Mexican food... I was very surprised it was so good... I will definatley be back when I go through Hope... Oh and the staff was extreamly nice too... Wish it were closer to home... I would eat there regularly!
WONDERFUL AUTHENTIC FOOD !!!!!!. I love Amigo Juan's. The food is incredible and the staff is so nice. I eat there a couple times a year when I am in town. For the first time I had to try another mexican place in town Dos Locos Gringos and two in our part were sick afterwards. I LOVE AMIGO JUAN's!!!! Keep up the great food. The staff is also so nice and friendly.
Pretty good restaurant. The margaritas were really good. Had the Flaming cheese dip and it was 🔥! Had street tacos and they were very good. The service was also very good.
This is a really really great place to grab a bite, especially if you're on the highway. Bright, fun decor, and the food was good, the staff was alright not great. Would be a five star but the rice was over cooked on the taco dish, and the wait staff was very slow and inattentive. They would rather gab in the back looking at us. That being so, our wait person was very friendly and nice when we did see her. I would go again.
The service was great. Coffee was awesome too. I live in San Antonio and had to drive to Arkansas for the best tortilla soup I've ever had. :) sad thing was the two women who had a table full of empty plates, and left a small pile of nickels and pennies as a tip. If you can't afford to tip, stay home and have a sandwich.
This place was recommended to me. And was completely satisfied. The enchilada and tamales plate is terrific. The chips are salsa is great also. Just the right amount of heat. The service was excellent. I would highly recommend this place.
We split the Sour Cream Chicken Enchiladas. It was excellent. I liked the refried beans, chips, & salsa.
Would come back. It take sometime to get our meal.
My grilled Tilapia was so good! The veggie were boiled instead of steamed, I could also tell they we frozen Not Fresh. My rice was bland! Over all my food was 3 stars, but I really like the fish so you get 4.
Now, Jaqueline H our waitress messed a few things up, especially our drinks.
She appeared to write everything down as we said it. When the drinks arrived they had not included the one I ordered, and that server told me “honestly I only had one mango margarita ordered at this table!”
What? Why would you not offer to fix it? Instead she kept calling out a regular margarita on the rocks that know one ordered..so I took since I figured the waitress put it in wrong. We wanted our drinks and have happy memories of our (father, uncle, friend & brother) that we are all down for his funeral.
After the meal, my friend shared part of his second mango margarita with me, pouring in to my glass.
About 2 minutes later the waitress Jaquelin came over and asked “you had the mango margarita right?”
Oh, no I politely corrected her mistake from the beginning!! That I had 1 mistake margarita and I better not see mango on my check.
The servers were confused, or just not able to get it right. Their were3 more standing around doing nothing, expect watching these girls make mistakes.
I feel bad for them.. because we really enjoyed the food and drinks.. makes me sad to have to review bad service issues!!
I ordered street style brisket tacos, with rice and charro beans and spicy salsa - fantastic! The chips and red & green salsas were great. Got a small side of white queso to go with everything. Over all wonderful food. A bit pricey with a soft drink at $20 and change! Service was great!
Generic Mexican food restuarant. Food was good, not anything I'd die to go back to but would eat here again.
