Besides the people, the thing we like best about visiting Houston is the food. We try to make dining an adventure and have eaten Persian, French, Czech, Spanish, Italian, Mexican, Texan bbq, our favorite, TexMex, and so many others. This trip to Houston, we found our new favorite in Guadalajara Mexican Grill. We received a warm welcome and were seated immediately. Our waitress, Thelma, couldn’t have been any better. She took our drink order right away and kept our soft drinks filled. She was awesome! The chips and salsas were yummy, as was the guacamole we ordered for an appetizer. The menu is extensive with so many delicious choices making it hard to decide what to order. My husband ended up ordering the brisket tacos while I ordered the grilled shrimp tacos. Both were even better than we expected them to be. The Mexican rice was good, but the charro beans were delicious! The portion size was more than generous. My husband ate one of three of his tacos then helped me finish my tacos, leaving Jan with plenty of food leftover for lunch the next day. Because it was our first visit, we were given a free dessert to share. I opted for the coconut flan, which, like everything else, was outstanding.
We tried to visit this restaurant again, even though we always try to find new restaurants each visit to Houston, but sadly, due to weather, it was closed. Since we’re from Michigan, and there was barely a dusting of snow on the ground and hardly any ice, we found this slightly amusing But we will be back in town in four months and will definitely be visiting Guadalajara Mexican Grill then. I highly recommend this restaurant!
Awesome staff, awesome food and awesome drinks. The staff knows this is our Friday hangout. Our son is hyper and loud and they don't seem to be annoyed by it like other places. They interact with him as well. The food never disappoints. We've tried several items and all have been winners. The drinks are worth the price where most places give you a lot less for the same price. Would highly recommend.
This was a fantastic experience for us! Our server was Joaquin, and he was excellent. He chips are light and crisp, and we ordered guacamole, which as delicious. We had chicken and shrimp fajitas...outstanding! And of course the horny iguana is to die for. I can’t wait to go back.
I'm a fan of Guad. This location has an amazing bar since the remodel. I've been coming to Guad for years but today was the best experience I've ever had. I was greeted by a manager, the waiter didn't let our drinks go empty, the brunch was amazing! You can tell the attention to detail with this location by the staffs readiness and effort.
We love this place. The food is awesome and happy hour is the best. Staff are also very attentive and make a meal more enjoyable.
By far one of the best Mexican restaurants my wife and I have ever dined at. Service, food, and atmosphere were top notch
The food, atmosphere, and staff were all excellent! Great place to eat! Loved it!
Best food best service. We love this place and we are never disappointed!
Hosted a retirement party happy hour here and the staff was extremely accommodating! Food & drinks were spot on. Excellent service. This was a great venue for a small party.
The service was awesome. and the food was great!!! Lime beef fajitas was soooooooo good.
I this place, great customer service, great good, great drinks and OMG the green salsa is to Die for!!!!!
Our waitress Jenny was beyond great. She had a style which we just loved.
we had a wonderful time, group meets there once a month and have done so for years and years......after fire, we met at
Chili's down the street but couldn't wait to get back to Guadalajara....food is fabulous, and our favorite server, Marco is the best! I had the fried chicken enchilidas and they are sooooo good....
Great restaurant! Been to this location a few times now and hasn't dissapointed yet. Good service and the food is great! Always full of flavor and good size portions for the price. Also always served fresh and hot. There is also a bar if you prefer to sit at the bar or at a table in the bar section. Bathrooms are nice and clean which is always great! They keep the restaurant clean and tidy. Its also not overpacked with tables. They are all spaced out appropriately. Big restaurant. Parking is easy! Lots available.
I chose to dine here after it was recommended by several people in Houston. It was a shining recommendation because the reviews said it very true to real Mexican food. That was all I needed to hear!! Off I went to see for myself what this place has to offer.
I must confess that Guadalajara DID NOT disappoint! The house-made chips and salsa were a good start. You can tell they are made there because of the freshness. Next was a lunch dish that I chose. It was a beef enchiladas plate, and it was delicious!! I opted for the combo plate. One big beef enchilada and one chicken burrito. It came with cilantro rice and black beans. They complimented the entree well. Also, the size of the portion is a satisfying portion (no need to overstuff myself). Lastly, I ordered two mango margaritas. These margaritas came with a bit of tajin and a tamarind candy covered straw. They were a perfect match to what I ordered... and I could feel the effect of the drinks shortly after lol 🙌🏽🙌🏽 I had a great time at this restaurant and decided to return again while I was in town. The second time was just as good as the first. I will definitely keep Guad on my list of good eats in Houston!! Be sure to stop in if ever in H-Town
Guadalajara is one of my favorite Tex Mex restaurants. It's good value for money. The options are large. The restaurant is clean and well managed. Two aspects of last night's service had me reduce the overall score by one star. I have high expectations.
1) Frozen Margarita was out of proportion. It was far too strong. They add the alcohol to an already frozen mix, and last night the guadaritas, one of their top shelf margaritas just had too much alcohol. It didn't taste as good and we both left the restaurant feeling like we'd had too much to drink having only had one each .
2) Partons but spread out. Why seat everyone on top of one another? The table next to us emptied and three seconds after it was cleaned another party was seated. They filled the table/booth. Which was fine until another person joined them and now you have five people seated at a table for 4. Other tables remained empty.
Will we return, absolutely.
Excellent restaurant that for some reason isn't packed for weekend lunchtime. The staff was friendly as our daughter was checking ourlt their Christmas tree and mini town decorations. The waiter was new and had to return to ask us clarification questions several times ... but at least he didn't make assumptions and got us the correct orders. Good margaritas too.
This place was perfect! I ordered fajitas and they were phenomenal. I couldn't ask for a better dining experience. I cannot recommend this restaurant enough! I drove 5 hours to visit Houston for an event, but I am thinking about driving back just for the food!
Tacos al carbon (lunch special)
The fajita meat has a bit of lime infused withing the flavor - just a heads up.
A happy hour must... The perfect atmosphere to revisit with old friends and make new ones. The food is good and as always excellent service. I highly recommend coming here and a five 🌟 for sure! 👏
I gotta say I'm on a pretty good streak of eating at outstanding Houston restaurants. This Mexican food is so good. You will be wowed with their fresh chips and salsa. Their green sauce is outstanding. Don't make the mistake of getting another bowl of chips and salsas or you will be too full for your meal. I really enjoyed the rice. Their chicken flautas are some of the best I've ever had, and their beef fajitas are so tender, juicy, and flavorful. It was a great dining experience from the ambience to the service and of course the food. They would have gotten 5 stars, but the tortillas were just ok- one dimensional. They'll do the job though.
Great food, drinks, and service! Service was very good; the whole team was coordinated and worked well together to create an enjoyable experience. The food was delicious and was served hot and fresh. Drinks were good, I enjoyed the happy hours margaritas! Overall, great place for some Tex-Mex food and drinks. Though, expect to pay more for some plates such as fajitas when compared to other Mexican restaurants.
Our favorite Mexican restaurant now! Amazing place! The food was superb, the perfect blend of flavor. The staff was very friendly and attentive. The restaurant decor is authentic, inviting and clean. Eric made our date lunch fun and more enjoyable. I highly recommend this lovely place.
