Awesome food and friendly service! Great patio space and quality ingredients. We’ll be back to sample the veggie portion of the menu soon!
As soon as I arrived I felt an eager urge in my stomach based on the reviews on Facebook I knew I was in for a treat. The only thing I am saddened about is a fact that there are no sleeping cots or sleeping quarters after my food coma, based on your tacos and chips and salsa plus the two margaritas. I did tear into the seven tacos with my girlfriend I now have one taco left over for the morning. There was no wait to order food quick and easy food arrived extremely fast and very tasty and I emphasize very tasty.
We had the best time on the patio yesterday. Between the four of us, we had 3 orders of elotes, 5 tacos, 1 order of tots and 2 giant pieces of red velvet cake. Our dog was welcomed and we all left vowing to go back as often as possible.
The tacos are delicious and it’s so hard to choose!!! #12 and #14 are my faves. The brisket and the shrimp and grits. Everything I’ve tried has been good. The margaritas are excellent and the red velvet cake is the bomb!
Velvet is an amazing taco shop and my favorite in Houston!! The elotes should be considered a food group unto itself... Fix your diet soda on the fountain drink machine, it always has too much foam!!
The tacos are delicious and the elotes are on point!! Great place.

The flank steak with portabello and queso blanco was everything my tastebuds needed. Sampled the brisket taco and next time I want one of each!
Their barbacoa egg frittata taco was pretty spicy and amazing! Also the chips and queso was spot on! I have nothing bad at all to say about this place!
This is a must try, best tacos in Houston. The brisket taco (can't remember the name) and the corn are amazing!
Delicious food! Fast service. Great customer experience! Chill atmosphere. Definitely would recommend. The margarita is the BOMB!!! So delicious 😋😋😋
Great customer service! Everyone is always pleasant and professional.. The food is excellent, made to order comes out fresh and hot. The margaritas are great and so is the red velvet cake. I have been to Velvet Taco multiple times and have never been disappointed. I have also told friends about this place. I will definitely be coming back!
Worth the drive from Cypress. For those on a low carb diet, there are quite a few delicious selections.
I love their tacos, amazing and their tater tops kick ass!! the chef is truly amazing chef!!
First place we went after arriving in Houston from Kentucky, needless to say we found our first favorite spot. Delicious!

The tater tots are so tasty and the we tried the elotes as a dip with their free blue corn chips - yummy! I've tried three of their tacos now and I don't think you can go wrong with any of them.
One bite and I am hooked! I recommend the Shrimp and grits taco. Very good!

Get the #12 with a cheese encrusted tortilla! What would Oprah say? It is Ahhhhmazing! Love the falafel taco too!
Love this place! Friendly Service, Great atmosphere, and let us not forget the tacos because tacos Are Life!! So freaking Good, this was my first time here and I can't wait to try ALL of them!
Although they have several locations, I tried the one on Washington. First off the customer service over the phone for a call in order was GREAT!!!!!!! The young lady (didn't get her name) was very friendly & professional. Since it was my 1st time eating at their establishment I don't like corn nor onions & she was nice enough to leave them out with no gripe at all.
Let me start by saying the presentation was executed extremely well. You can tell these were freshly ordered NOT just sitting up pre-made. I must say their Fish & Chips was my favorite. The Mexi-Cali shrimp without the avocado corn pico was a tight 2nd place. The Buffalo chicken taco was just "ok" for me. Their slow-roasted Angus brisket taco was NOT for me, I took a half a bite & was like this does NOT sit well with my tastebuds. But, someone might like it, try it for yourself. Oh they have a red sauce that has a slight kick to it which was very tasty. I think yall should keep them on your list to check out if you want tacos & they have a variety, SEVERAL to select from.....
Came into Houston for some ink at Prison Break Tattoo and we of course needed to feed.
Found this place about 3-4 blocks from our condo and studio and have to say we're glad we did.
I had both the Angus brisket(3pcs) and flank steak(2pcs) tacos and they didn't disappoint.
I believe my buddy had the pork variants and he was quite satisfied with them as well.
I'm not a foodie, I just eat for macros but suffice it to say these were both delicious and filling.
The service and atmosphere were both great as my buddy and I sat there for the better part of two hours, eating and just relaxing.
I would definitely recommend.

I was searching Google for good reviews as I'm visiting Houston and wanted to try something I'd never had. I saw good things about this place so I decided to give it a try.
I got brisket nachos and the chicken and waffle taco. 10 out of 10. I also tried the red velvet cake since velvet is in the name of the restaurant. It felt really heavy, but was extremely moist, and the taste was really good.
I will definitely go back and try different tacos, because as was posted in the restaurant. They have a new taco every Wednesday. 😋
Do yourself a favor, and give it a try. We ended up here because the wait at another place was ridiculous. This place should have been our first choice! Staff was very helpful and friendly! My only gripe would be the tables weren't very clean, but it didn't take away from our amazing experience!
These tacos were some of the best I’ve had! I love that they’re open late, late night and the atmosphere is awesome and laid back. Great place to dine with lots of delicious menu options and priced appropriately. This is one of my favorite late night spots to get good grub!
OMG!!! Talk about tacos with some FLAVOR!! Not 100% sure what all we ordered, but the flavor was on point. Would definitely recommend!!! Staff was super friendly and establishment was very clean.
Best Ever Tacos in Town !!!! They are fresh, juicy, tasty and flavourful. The weekly tacos are special, also the regular ones. Chicken Tikka, Buffalo chicken, Grilled paneer, Tofu, Mexicali shrimp 🦐, potato tots, tortilla chips with queso, red velvet cake and cream soda👌. All these are favorites.
They have both indoor and outdoor seating. Spacious arrangement, friendly staff.
One of the local taco spots I like best! Everything I've tasted so far has been fantastic, and I love the range of interesting and entertaining flavors. The crisp, fresh chips combine perfectly with the delicious white queso. Over the course of several excursions, I sampled the Flank Steak tacos, Shrimp & Grits, the new Mexicali Shrimp Taco, and the Chicken & Waffles taco. They were all wonderful!
The atmosphere at Velvet Taco in Houston was definitely odd but lovely. It seemed half of one vibe and half of another, but the food was SOOOO good! It was very different than the authentic Mexican food I am used to, but a good different! Not Tex-Mex at all, in my opinion. It was like a chef level creative spin on Mexican food and I absolutely loved it. Highly recommended stopping by one. They have many different locations in different towns as well.
Venturing into Velvet Taco, we discovered a refreshing, one-of-a-kind boutique taco joint that, despite being part of a chain, exuded an air of exclusivity and individuality. A culinary adventure awaited us, with each dish offering a unique spin on the classic taco.
Our taste buds were transported with every bite of the #7 Cuban Pig taco. The fusion of mustard, pickles, and a tangy, vinegary essence created an unexpectedly delightful experience that left us craving more of this innovative creation.
The #8.5 Chipotle BBQ Pork taco truly stole the show, with tender shredded pork bathed in a mouthwatering blend of BBQ and Mexican flavors. This exquisite concoction had us raving about our newfound favorite.
Coming in a close second was the #11.5 Chimichurri Steak taco, featuring succulent steak married with a vibrant sauce and perfectly balanced spices. This dish was a testament to the culinary prowess of Velvet Taco.
The Elote & Chips served as the ideal companion to our taco feast. This creamy corn-based salsa paired with crisp, dark corn chips was a symphony of flavors that harmoniously enhanced our dining experience.
Although one might expect to pay a premium for such uniquely crafted tacos, the portions were both satisfying and substantial, making the experience well worth the investment.
Finally, we were thoroughly impressed by the swift service and the efficiency with which our order was prepared, adding to the overall allure of Velvet Taco.
To sum it up, Velvet Taco is a delightful haven for food enthusiasts seeking novel and palate-pleasing experiences. If you find yourself yearning for an extraordinary taco adventure, this is the place to be. Prepare to be dazzled by their inventive creations, and rest assured that your taste buds will thank you.
Fantastic food! So much variety for all being tacos. Different types of cuisine. There was a large piece remaining tomato from the blender in the queso. We took it back and asked for a top off of the queso from after removing it, and they provided us with a whole second cup after apologizing. Awesome service. I will for sure be back and will be bringing friends.
I’ve love Velvet Taco, starting back in 2014 in Fort Worth. This location is no different, still a great atmosphere with fantastic food. So many options chicken, fish, vegetarian, pork, and beef. Phenomenal drink selection, with some local beer, soft drinks, TOPA Chico, Mexican Coke, white claw, bottled water, and some standard beers.
It was a little disappointed I didn’t see the back door chicken looks like it was painted over. I’m not sure if this location still offers that or not. If they do you should definitely try it. Slow roasted rotisserie chicken with corn tortillas, roasted corn and a Elote corn. Also comes with a side of hot sauce and Valentina. Oh and it’s only $20 and you can pick it up to go only.
I did see a sign that refers to parking so be careful where you park so your car doesn’t get towed. Very nice of the restaurant to inform their guest about parking not a lot of places would do that.
Overall it was a great experience. So many unique flavors in their tacos you can’t go wrong with what you pick. It will definitely be returning to velvet taco! My favorite taco place.
This is my go to location. The staff is always friendly & the service is quick. My favorite tacos are the picnic chicken, brisket & chimichurri steak. The queso & guacamole are both great appetizers too!
Oh wow! Such unique tastes here at Velvet Taco! We had five different tacos, each with a unique flavor. He liked the #3 Spicy Tikka Chicken best and She liked the #11 Grilled Flank Steak best, but all were really yummy. And we both loved the Elote and Chips, yum! I wish we had Velvet Taco back home
Tacos were different, but good! I order the shrimp & grits and the Mexicali shrimp tacos and the brisket nachos. Is little expensive so be prepared to spend about $10 or more for 2 Tacos $6 for a small brisket nachos. I don’t care for mayo or mustard so I asked to not put it in the taco most of the sauces they put in the taco is mix with either this 2 condiments. Corn tortilla was under cooked flour tortilla was good.
It was our first time here, and we are soooo glad we stopped in! Velvet Taco takes Taco Tuesday to a whole new stratosphere! After perusing the menu we knew for certain we wanted to try the exotic menu items. First of all, our food came quickly, the presentation was very attractive, but Oh My God was everything delicious! In fact, we’ve decided to refer to it as “extraordinary!” Do you know how sometimes you can eat a restaurant and you can’t quite taste the ingredients? Well, at Velvet Taco I promise you that your taste buds will recognize each and every ingredient. We had the brisket nachos, chimichurri steak tacos, Korean fried rice taco, the fish n’ chips taco, and a Cuban pig taco, which not only actually tasted like a Cuban sandwich, it tasted like a good Cuban sandwich. Any way, do yourself a favor next time in the Houston Heights and you’re craving tacos; stop at Velvet Taco and order anything on the menu.
Velvet Taco is a culinary gem, and their chicken tikka and tater tots are a delightful fusion of flavors. The chicken tikka is a succulent and aromatic masterpiece, while the tater tots add a crispy and satisfying element to the meal. The vibrant atmosphere and creative offerings at Velvet Taco create the perfect setting for savoring these unique and mouthwatering dishes. Whether you're a fan of global flavors or simply looking for a delicious dining experience, Velvet Taco is the go-to spot. I'll undoubtedly be back for more of their incredible chicken tikka and tater tots!
This place is cute, in a tucked away area. The Tacos are delicious. I did order the red velvet cake that looked eye catching and made my mouth water at first. But once I tried it, it was a disappointment to say the least. It tasted like it's been sitting out for hours uncovered. Besides that I'll be back for the tacos.
