Looking for a unique experience? Stop by here. It’s self seating. Wait in line until a chair or group of chairs opens up. You have your choice of facing outside (windows) or inside (bar). Three are no tables only counters. Not ideal for small children. I had not been here prior. After a few minutes
Amazing seafood at amazing price. Can’t beat it anywhere in town. Raw oysters and seafood gumbo on point, get at least the bowl not the cup you’re gonna want more. Went at 9:30pm on a Monday, place was packed. Glad they stay open till 11pm weekdays. Plenty of well lit safe parking. When I got there
I'm 44 years old and I have loved this restaurant since I was 10. The unique atmosphere, the delicious food, and the happy staff are all reasons that you MUST try Captain Toms. I always make sure to get the gumbo, oysters on the half shell, and a Texas Mini (fried shrimp and fried catfish) I live i
Very crowded place and food very fresh. So good so good.
My family and I love this place. Great service, excellent food, and good atmosphere. The gumbo and micheladas are a must try! You can expect a wait if you have more than 2 people & want to sit around the bar. Well worth it though!
It looks like a hole in the wall joint until you taste the food.... And it is Very, Very Good!!! Highly recommend the fresh gulf shrimp they fry. The stuffed crab and Seafood Gumbo are very good also! Walk in and seat yourself, order from the bar.
The gumbo is a must try! Can’t go wrong with any of their fried seafood. Shrimp is my favorite, michelada mix 7/10. It gets a little uncomfortable after sitting for a while. Very close seating.
Very good restaurant, the business is very hot, the oysters inside are very fresh and plump, the seafood soup is also very good, and the price of fried fish is also very affordable. You must try this restaurant when you come to Houston. The overall price is very cheap!
What everyone says about busy is true but that's what you want to see because that's where the food is good. It is unique in that the restaurant is built like a tug boat in a way. You walk in find a seat and go sit down. About half are shaped around the oyster bar and half are outward facing. And if
Great place to go for simply prepared seafood. Expect it to be busy, really really, busy. If you don't go early, you'll wait for a spot. If you go in the mid day maybe you'll have a chance to get a spot. If you go for dinner, expect to wait. Just rebuilt into much more seating. They could have done
I always enjoy coming here, been visiting Captain Toms locations for over 10 years now. The setup is shaped like a boat inside with bar going all around. Seating is close to one another but everyone manages to fit.(no fine dining here lol) I go for their catfish, shrimp, fries, stuffed shrimp jalapeñ
We don't come here often enough... Great food, awesome service, amazing prices. We typically have a dozen or two of the oysters on the halfshell, hush puppies and fries. Today we went with a delicious salt and pepper flounder. Absolutely wonderful!
Wow! I would've never eaten here had it not been for my mate's late night idea. Not fine dining, but I actually prefer something polar opposite of pretentious. Every staff person was friendly. It was beyond cheap. Served possibly in record time and clean enough. UPDATED 10/14/2022— Had the seafood
If you like "Dives" like I do then this is the place for you. It's packed and the pace behind the counter is quick. Eating on the "island" is at a premium, and requires waiting, so eating around the outside was our option. Service is shouting your order over the people around the middle and reaching
Atmosphere: Busy, local Oyster bar. Service: Quick and efficient Food: Everything was simple, fresh, and perfectly prepared. My brother's eyes rolled back in his head after the first bite of raw oyster. Boiled shrimp were amazing. Fried shrimp were crisp with great tarter. Pricing: Inexpensive, e
Consistently delicious. I've been coming here for years and I've never had a bad meal. My favorite is the "fried special" which is fried shrimp and oysters. The menu says 3 oysters but it's always 6-8. I've never had fried seafood this crispy but also this juicy on the inside. Best fried seafood wes
This is the perfect place for fresh oysters and seafood! They prepare the oysters right at the bar and have great cocktail sauce and tarter sauce. We got a cup of their amazing gumbo and shared the seafood platter and added an extra stuffed crab because they are amazing! It's sometimes hard to get a
