A wonderful little spot for brunch! Tasty mimosas, perfectly cooked burgers, and the juiciest fried chicken I've ever had. Our server was very attentive. If you haven't tried it already, i suggest you do!
Wine and fried chicken, who knew they would blend so well together. Came on a Sunday for brunch and was seated promptly, not too busy until the later hours 1/2. Our waiter wasn’t too knowledgeable in wines but it all worked out, glad I was able to check out this great spot in Houston.
Great vibe and excellent customer service! The chicken and waffles with grits were unforgettable. The chicken was tender, moist and delicious and the chipotle syrup elevated the dish to the next level. The grits were so creamy. I ate everything and left no crumbs!
Our waitress was so kind! She was welcoming as soon as we sat at the table from us leaving. She gave great suggestions and knew how to handle a large party. We never had to wait a long time for anything! The food was absolutely delicious. I had been wanting to try forever and it was well worth the wait. Prices were very fair and everything was worth it. Can’t wait to go back and indulge in more. Here is the 6 pepper chili and the honey butter chicken biscuits. I recommend the chicken club bc it came with SO MUCH FOOD. I think I’ll try that next time!
I absolutely love this place! They have valet and also paid parking across the street, so there really is no issue here with that, unlike so many other places in Montrose.
We came here for dinner, and it was a gorgeous H-town night, so we sat on the patio.
We started with a glass of wine and the deviled eggs. If you know me, you know I am a devil egg fiend, and get them everywhere I can. They were so tasty!
I ended up ordering the salmon and it was cooked medium rare, perfect! I do not know what my husband ordered and honestly he can do his own review if he wants to! LOL.
This is a place I will come to again and again.
Service was excellent and friendly. Went here for Sunday brunch, and it was busy. I feel the drinks were the most impressive part of our visit. Had the San Jancinto drink which if you like smoky and citrus, it's the one for you. We had their southern fried chicken and the honey eggs Benedict. Food was very tasty, but the wait was absurd. We got seated quickly due to our reservations, but our food took a bit over an hour. It wasn't too noticeable because of the drinks. Yet, had we been really hungry or on a schedule, it would've been a problem. Fun place for breakfast but menu isn't extremely diverse.
When we arrived to the restaurant we were able to park on the street nearby. We walked in and found out it was a 45 minute wait. We waited and walked around while we waited. The wait was only really about 25 minutes. We sat outside and it was pretty socially distanced. Our waiter was a male, I forgot his name, and he was ok. He took our orders by memory and did well with it. I ordered mimosas and it was pretty good for $5 and the chicken with poached eggs without the eggs. My friends ordered the same with eggs and the food was good on all parts. I enjoyed my time.
For some reason, my reservation was canceled within the extra 15 minute period it should've been held for. However, the manager stepped in to quickly resolve the situation to offer us a table, so I do commend him for that. Otherwise, I enjoyed Sunday brunch here. We built our own mimosas, and were given three different juices when we purchased a bottle of champagne. I realized that their famous Southern fried chicken had truly earned that reputation. The chicken was well spiced and perfectly fried to a crunch for an amazingly flavorful taste.
Max’s Wine Dive is such an amazing establishment. We started off with the delicious Crispy Deviled Eggs then waited for our main dishes. Keep in mind that everything is made-to-order, so the wait-time was longer than most, but well worth it. We ordered the Southern Style Meat Loaf, which was not your typical, heavy, meatloaf; it was remarkably light & well-seasoned. We also ordered the Cracklin’ Chicken, both of which I highly recommend. I was especially fond of their jalapeño-cheddar grits & seasonal mushroom risotto. To top it all off, some great live music was going, and the atmosphere was just perfect. I really enjoyed my experience here, it exceeded my expectations.
I have been here countless times in the past few weeks. It happens to be my brother's favorite restaurant, and his name just so happens to be Max...
Unfortunately, I have been unable to convince the wait staff that our meal should be free, due to the uncanny fact that my brother's name is in the restaurant. Shouldn't he at least get life rights? A % of their revenue???
All in all, the food is enjoyable, although the occasional dish is overcooked or lacking in depth of flavor.
When you enter the restaurant, you are welcomed by a friendly cadre of hosts, all of who remember you for coming for your third time in the week. You are served water by the kind hosts, then left to your own devices. It becomes a waiting game or better yet, the most one-sided game of hide and seek, where you are always it and the wait staff has mastered the art of hiding. They have yet to strike that delicate balance between ignoring you enough and paying attention to you.
In my experience, they tend to lean too heavily towards the former. I've sat and started eating my second course, while the people who were seated next to me moments later than me had not even gotten the chance to order their food.
Nonetheless, it's a 4/5 because of the friendly and accommodating hosts, friendly atmosphere, good music, and yummy foodstuffs.
