Novelty shaved icecream worth trying! Got a Mountain size between 4 of us but the quantity was more than we could eat. The chocolate shaved ice with lychee poppers was delicious.
The shaved ice is so velvety like creamy snow,and I really like that they use fresh fruit. I shared a Mountain of Coconut ice š„„ with š„ mangoes and pineapple and drizzle of condensed milk. The menu can be a overwhelming but they do have small notepads at the register to help you order.
I'm amazed at how they are able to make flavored shaved ice. We chose almond flavor with mochi and condensed milk. Ordering was a breeze with a convenient order form to make your selections. The order came out rather quickly as they were quite busy. The ice itself was packed with flavor and went well with the chewy mochi. If you don't like super sweet desserts, I would leave out the condensed milk. I found it too sweet with it on.
The thai tea was way too sweet for my liking. I waited for my ice to melt and then it was just right. Overall, great dessert place to go with friends.
There are plenty of tables but I can see that it can be quite tight if you go during a busy hour.

Great spot for shaved ice cream and drinks. Was in the area and spotted this gem and I wasn't disappointed. Visited around 11pm and it was packed. Service was super fast and polite. You have to fill out a small form when placing your order, learned this when trying to order. Clean atmosphere, huge selection of flavors, tons of add-ons (lychee poppers ..hmmm). Ordered The Hill size which was more than enough (the largest size is The Mountain) vanilla milk, with M&Ms, and a drizzle of caramel. Definitely will be back to try more. Check this place out!
I had the most delightful experience with shaved ice at Nu Cafe. I ordered a coconut with tapioca, and the flavors melted in my throat, making it incredibly delicious. The only downside was that the service tended to be a bit slow when it got crowded, but the cashier and worker were super friendly and made the wait less miserable.

Absolutely loved this hidden gem. Delicious boba teas and refreshing, and beautifully presented Taiwanese shaved ice. The shaved ice is not overly sweet which I enjoyed. Highly recommend coming here, I know I will be back.

This was my first time eating shaved ice and was I in for an experience or what! The ice itself(I chose the green tea flavour) was delicate and refreshing. It was neither too dense, nor too sweet. I could have sworn it was simply a cup of well made, icy, green tea. The toppings (lychee poppers, mango jelly, mango poppers) were fresh and light!

Last time I was at Nu was 10 years ago! Great to see the establishment still standing despite all the new-new popping up around it. The shaved ice is deliciously light and airy but flavorful. Array of flavors, toppings, and drizzles to choose from. There's also a nice smoothie/boba menu to choose from. Staff is pleasant and helpful and offers deliver quickly.
Good variety and unique dessert options! They specialize in āsnowflakeā style shaved ice, and also serve boba options. We customized our shaved ice and got exactly what we ordered, and the mountain size is definitely more than enough for 2 people. This type of dessert is not as flavor strong as regular ice cream, but still more creamy and flavorful than a standard snow cone or shaved ice. The interior ambiance was a little dirty but still enjoyable to be in and a good hangout spot. Staff was very nice and was an overall good dessert place to try. Always order with condensed milk as a topping!
This is the 2nd time Iāve come here over the years in visiting and every time it never disappoints. If youāve never had shaved ice, I definitely recommend! Hill size is plenty for eating solo especially it you have different tastes with who you may be sharing with. I took my daughter here for her first time and we needed up going back again before leaving back home. I ordered coconut base shaved ice, condensed milk is a must have, strawberry drizzle, mango, strawberry and pineapple for sides. Daughter had strawberry base, Nutella drizzle, mochi, strawberries and mango.
Shaved Icecream is about to become an addiction!! This location is just as good as the one on Westheimer. Infact it was even cleaner at this location. We tried the mango sorbet and the coffee shaved ice. Delicious!! So many enticing smoothie options to try if shaved ice isn't tempting enough.
Oh yeah, thatās a shave iced mangonada! To be honest not sure if I like regular mangonada or this shaved iced one. Itās ridiculously tasty and totally recommend.
Tried the green tea shaved ice with condensed milk and mochi on the side and it was sooooo good. Definitely would come here just to get it again.
Great place for shaved ice, definitely a different spin. I like that it is customizable with lots of flavors, toppings, and drizzles. And unique Boba flavor combinations.

If you are craving some great ice cream with unique flavors, look no further than Nu Cafe. Their shaved ice shop is in the heart of China Town. I have been to this location probably 3-4 times over the years but I haven't been in a while. Let's just say I was overly excited to return. For the shaved ice itself, you have two options for sizes (Hill for 1 or Mountain for 2). My girlfriend and I decided to each get our own as we have different dessert tastes.
I went for the strawberry base with condensed milk and mango poppers. The ice can stand on its own but the condensed milk really adds a lot of flavor to this classic taste. The mango doesn't really mix with the strawberry but I just love the poppers so decided to act up and get it anyway.
My gf went for the milk tea flavor with condensed milk and red beans as the topping. The safer choice in my opinion but don't tell her I said that.
Anyway, highly recommend this place. Perfect ending to a date night in China Town for anyone wanting to see the real Houston!
