We were greeted immediately when we entered the door. Waiter was polite and attentive throughout the entire experience and presented himself as if we were truly at a restaurant in France. The place itself looked very nice and the bread brought to the table was as good as I have ever had. Menu was limited to the Houston Restaurant Week for Harvey relief, but what I did have was phenomenal. Scallops were cooked to perfection. NY strip is definitely one of my least liked cuts of steak, but it was actually very good here. Desert was also exceptional. We will definitely be adding this place on the “return to” list. It’s also cool to be able to see into the kitchen where the food is made.

Chef Kristofer Jakob went overboard for our event! He prepared an amazing menu for Yes Prep East End Senior Dinner Banquet. The staff took care of all the details and provided our party of 110 with a culinary experience out this world. The dessert was double amazing and the shrimp balls appetizers were a hit among our picky eaters, which tells you how delicious they were. Every spoon was full of exploiting flavors catered to the palate of teens ( we adults enjoyed it too) This place is a hidden gem! A wonderful venue for intimate events like the one we had last weekend. It was not my first time at the restaurant, however it was my first catered event, and I must say that every dime spent was 100% worthy. Triple kudos to the Chef, the kitchen staff and everyone involved in the planning and cooking. It was an unforgettable experience for our 2015 Graduating Class.

This was our first visit to Kris. Frankly it was not easy to find, but the GPS worked wonders. We arrive at our appointed reservation time, but a table was not ready. This is not uncommon in restaurants, of course. Here, we were guided to the bar to wait until a table was ready. Kris, himself, offered us wine or champagne while we waited -- on the house. Once at our table we enjoyed prompt service for wine while we viewed the menu. Note that the menu is not extensive but changes regularly. The restaurant is part of, and located in, the Culinary Institute of Houston and the chefs were graduates of the school and did a fantastic job with the culinary experience really, really enjoyed with the food well presented. One problem is that two of our company ordered mussels and while in one order the mussels were open and ready to eat, on the other order the mussels were closed. Without any question the one order was removed and was replaced. Due to the wait, three of us had virtually finished, so when the replacement order of mussels arrived (and I must say that they were in a most delicious sauce) Kris brought over a tray of cheese so that those of us would have something to eat and the person with the mussels would not have to eat alone. NOW, THAT IS CLASS!!! I must add that the dinner was enjoyed thoroughly and will be the first of many trips to Kris'.

I came here for a large dinner with about 18 people and a few kids. The food was incredible and the pricing very reasonable. They did a great job of explaining what we were getting, suggesting dishes for our table and recommending wine pairings. They were also very accommodating to the kids in our group. They made them chicken nuggets and fries for kiddo appetites, even though there was no kid's menu. The timing of the food and service was a little slow, but it's also to be expected with a large group and a staff/kitchen that is in training. Overall, it was a great experience and our party was really impressed with the food. Will definitely be back.

We made reservations for this restaurant for our anniversary. Trying to get to this place was an adventure. However, when we got inside, we were amazed by the service and the attention to detail by the waiters. The food was exquisite. Definitely visiting Kris again. Don't let the location fool you this is an amazing restaurant and in my book is the best in Houston for special occasion.

This is the hidden gem of Houston! The staff is amazing. The food is high class but the staff is so good atabreaking down the wines and menus withoutwmaking youyfeel likelan idiot. On multiple occasions I have spoken with the chefs to thank them. Everything is reasonably priced and the food is arguably some of the best in the city. If you are looking for an intimate dinner that will blow you away, look no further. You have found your spot.

Amazing. From beginning to end. This is truly one of the best places in Houston. The warmth from the staff, the exquisite menu, the modern decor, - everything comes together to create a fabulous evening for romance, a large family dinner, or a wine stop for friends. Reasonable prices (for a great wine selection and French cuisine) are matched with a menu that changes with the season.

Amazing! My new favorite restaurant! The foods was so gourmet and perfect, the wine pairing was phenomenal, and the service was out of this world! I can't say enough about this place. Go casual or get dressed to the nines, it's all good. Definitely a must try.

Great restaurant experience all around! This restaurant, hidden in the culinary institute, is one of the best in Houston. Enter the institute to check in and wait in the lobby, where you can see part of the student kitchen. Travel a long hall to the dining room, modestly sized but open feeling. The menu includes ingredients sourced locally, namely the produce grown in house. Everything from plant to protein was remarkably fresh, perfectly prepared and brilliantly presented. The attention to detail in every dish is unmatched. The staff takes an enormous amount of pride in all aspects - they're excited to explain and recommend dishes and are very attentive without being bothersome. Chef Christopher is welcoming to guests, willing to answer questions about the restaurant and school. The floor manager, CJ, is also really friendly and informative. Recommendations: charcuterie - totally worth the hype fried oysters - the best texture ever salmon - cooked perfectly medium-rare We'll be back soon for another great meal and maybe a cooking class or two.

I went there and the food was delicious. They were offering French style 3-course menu while still being affordable. I had first a tartare and then a very good duck and deserts were fantastic, but very big. Food was of great quality. I will definitely go back.

Excellent experience at Le Bistro, as a French living in Houston, I am glad to have a place to go and eat just like in France! Delicious food and good service, I highly recommend this restaurant! Keep in mind that students are in charge and this makes the experience even more amazing!

Sometimes a meal is more than a meal. It can make you smile, or have a fit, or sometimes it can take you by surprise and leave you speechless - as goes Kris Bistro. After going to the soft opening I just can't wait for this restaurant to really open so it get can the recognition it deserves. The food was INCREDIBLE and the word "best" was heard more than once at my table (all people at my table being very serious food lovers and cooks). Kris Bistro is located inside of the Culinary Institute of Le Notre. The outside is a little grungy and parking is a pain, but they are still working on it so no worries. Don't be discouraged from the outside or you'll miss out on something great. The restaurant itself is dark (in a good way) and has good mood lighting with open spaces to sit and look out into the space, or corners that let you feel more private and away from groups. We sat in a darker corner that gave us a nice view of the kitchen working hard through big glass windows, and Chef Kris, himself, garnishing plates from the hydroponic herb garden. I brought my own wine and our servers jumped on getting us glasses right away. From this point on just assume that the service was spot on the whole night. We started off with freshly baked bread and whipped butter, which was refilled promptly the whole night. Next came the appetizers - Escargots in Pomme Dauphine Kromesky (imagine the goodness of escargot in a potato beignet) and the Crispy Sweet Breads. They were both delicious. The sweetbreads were the BEST I've ever had, hands down, no contest. My salad came next and had greens, goat milk feta, and shrimp with an herb vinaigrette. The shrimp were so perfectly cooked and cleaned that they looked something out of a picture. The tomatoes garnishing the plate were so juicy and sweet that we had a whole conversation about just the tomatoes. Here were the entrees I got to try: Smoked Beef with Fried Spatzel, Grilled Hanger Steak with Potato Puree, and Poached & Pan Seared Pork Tenderloin with Bourbon Glazed Peaches & Slaw on top of a Polenta Corn Cake. My friends beef entrees were cooked perfectly and very flavorful. I found myself trying to trick them into giving me more samples. The fried spatzel blew my friend's mind as he'd never had them any other way besides boiled. My pork wasn't cooked to perfection but the glazed peach on top of the polenta corn cake??? Best polenta I've ever had for sure. I wasn't super satisfied with my pork so they brought me mussels in garlic, shallot, parsley, and white wine sauce. I massacred those mussels till there was no trace of mussels left. I am salivating at the thought of these mussels. You should be able to order these mussels by the pound, they're so good. My experience was so good that I came back 2 days later to eat again. The next time I had Pan Roasted Salmon glazed in Lavender with a Tian of Summer Vegetables. Again, perfectly cooked salmon with lots of complex sauces going on around the plate. I left a happy camper once again. Did I mention that every tiny thing is made in house from scratch? Down to the curry ketchup and red pepper coulis, everything is fresh. What else would you expect from a kitchen full of trained chefs? And the best part? The prices are SO reasonable... Kris Bistro is like a diamond in the rough - hidden inside of a dingy place is the best French restaurant in Houston.

My fav location for quality french food. I love this place so much. The staff was very helpful and welcoming. This place has a great design. My apartment is far from here, so I can't visit often.
