Toro is one of the best places in Houston to eat Shashimi and sushi and a lot of other really great dishes... Gemma is our server of choice and she is outstanding, but the other severs are great as well... They have a great Habatchi grill also, I highly recommend this place if you enjoy Japanese cuisine!!! 5 ⭐️

I was in Houston for work and drove past this place one night. I love Japanese food so decided to eat there the next night. I sat at the bar and to my surprise they had happy hour until 7pm. My crab puffs and mango roll only cost $12. The service was pretty good but the food was great...I could taste the freshness! It was very comparable to my favorite sushi place at home and believe me that is a compliment. If I find myself in Houston again I will be putting this on my list to eat at again.

Toro, has the best rolls! We have never had a bad experience and is the only place we take guests when expectations are high.

Wow! Just Wow! The food, the drinks, the vibe....I loved this place! The waiter was Kevin and he took good care of us. I didn't feel rushed to order and he had very good suggestions on the menu. I love good suggestions because usually it means the person eats there and knows their stuff. The food presentation was magnificent but once you took a bit, mouth-watering!

We went there twice, one for lunch for sushis, we came back in the evening the following week to try their habachi. Their habachi was quite good, the cook did his artsy moves to please the kids and first-time adults, the meat was well seasoned, the starter onion soup was good. It was a good substitute to Benihana, will be back. For lunch, we had shrimp tempura (not their forte), the salmon carpaccio (ok) and the chicken katsu which was very good. Service was a bit inattentive during lunch but friendly.

Our food was tasty and prepared perfectly! Our chef was a little messy and I like a clean presentation. I rather my rice be in a bowl and not poured onto the plate. But wouldn't let this affect my 5 stars. Our waitress was so sweet and attentive! I also was a little disappointed they up charge 2.50 for fried rice even after paying for hibachi? That should be included. I will definitely be back because of how good the food was!

This is my favorite sushi restaurant! The food is really good and the portions are generous! The service is excellent and we always have a great time coming here. Everyone is friendly and attentive! I highly recommend this place. My favorite signature roll is called “Jumping shrimp”, it’s just delicious! Which is Topped with shrimp tempura 😍 Also, if you like margaritas you can have the Toro Margarita and the fried rice is the best in town!

Toro never disappoints. If you’re in search of some really good Hibachi for a decent cost, consider this. The only thing I’d recommend that you guys try (don’t judge me) is to bring your own bottle of Yum Yum sauce, I swear it’s the BEST. They have it but it’s not the same and the consistency is too watery for my liking. That will complete this meal for sure. Don’t shake your head, just try it haha. They’re always so friendly as well.

We have been looking for a good hibachi in Cypress. We are still looking. Food was average and unimpressive but the service was top notch. The food lacked flavor and we were disappointed. Probably wouldn't come back. Unlike other hibachi you only get soup or salad not both. My salad was ok but my husband's soup was flavored water. No seasoning or taste at all.

Toro is a good place to get inexpensive sushi, especially their lunch specials. However there are some issues with getting what you pay for. The shrimp tempura roll is mostly rice (you can see in the pictures) with very little shrimp. It's quite a mouthful and ends up being just filler. The California roll was inconsistent. Some pieces had more imitation crab than others to a significant extent. The gyoza didn't taste freshly made, and I imagine they were made sometime earlier and heated up before serving. But that's honestly unsurprising for an appetizer. We demand that kind of expediency. On the plus side, the tuna roll was practically perfect in my opinion. Solid pieces of fresh tasting tuna with just the right amount of rice rolled tightly together. Simple but good, and I've seen it messed up at other restaurants.

Everything was amazing. Our hostess was super friendly and attentive. Our chef, Edgar, was very funny, talented, and kind. It was entertaining and the food was delicious. It was the best food I’ve had in a while. Over all a great experience with family.
