Wow! Pizaro’s blew me away with its awesome pizza served various ways. The Napoletana pizza was just like I have had in Italy. The mozzarella was almost buttery and the sauce was rich but not the only thing you taste. You can tell they take pride in getting that dough right. The Detroit style was proof of that too. The way they crop the edges and get the topping perfectly melted is impressive. You know when you are in a serious pizza place when they have multiple types of pizza ovens! Absolutely worth a visit. Top 5 pizza in Houston for sure

This is my third time eating here and it is the best pizza I’ve had in Houston! They have different styles, I’ve only had the Napoletana and Detroit style! This time I tried a spicy Napoletana with pepperoni and even though it was not as warm since my husband had a long drive it tasted delicious! All gone in a matter of minutes!

So Pizaro's Pizza Napoletano is definitely one of the best in Houston. They recently were ranked as such in the Houston Chronicle.
Since grading pizza is so subjective I have applied a little structure to "Pizza Thursday" that helps YOU make up your own mind about this establishment.
The grading is 1-5... with 5 being the best or most.
Crust Thickness - 1.5 NY style thin, but ideal Neapolitano style crust using double zero flour as they should.
Crust Flavor - 4.5, but 5 if you are aware of Neapolitano flour and consistency. Tasty with perfect shape and edge.. A little floppy at the tip, but get over it.
Cheese amount and elasticity - 4 had just a lighter amout of stretch but well proportioned
Topping quantity - 5 excellent quantity and dispersion qith geometric precision and placement.
Sauce Quantity - 3 perfect for coverage and just enough for what I like
Sauce Flavor - 5 very nice
Atmosphere Cleanliness - 5 Very clean and set up nicely. Good music and well organized so that you have space to yourself
Atmosphere noise level - 5 very quiet and easy to have a conversation
Day After - 5 it kept well and was still amazing. Firmer and less floppy when cold.. so good.
Comments: overall I grade Pizaro's Pizza Napolitano at a solid 4.75
The Gray location is perfect for sit down, inside dining, as well as take-out. I didn't get dessert, but chose to get a glass of chianti.
The Pizza was very good, and worthy of return visits.

This is one of the best pizza places in town. The quality of pizza is outstanding starting from the dough to the toppings. Ours have always been perfect. Our favorite is the Arugula Pizza with the extra virgin olive oil, garlic, housemade mozzarella, arugula,
lemon oil and parmesan. Staff is nice.

Hands down one of the best pizza places in Houston. They offer 3 styles of pizza: Napoletana, NY and Detroit deep dish. My favorites are the NY and Detroit. Fantastic place!

Hands down, the best pizza we’ve ever had. The flavors were so incredible. We ordered a large Detroit Motown with extra cupping and smoked mozzarella. Highly suggest the extras. The restaurant was also very clean and the staff were super friendly. Glad we found this place, and can’t wait to go back!

The pizza was really good. Flavorful and the crust was perfect.
I was dining with some tough critics, and everyone was impressed.
Thank you for a pleasant dining experience at our new favorite pizza restaurant.

My wife said she wanted pizza on this trip so I searched around and found this place with great reviews and had to try. I love the distinct options so well explained, the pizza and salad were superb and it was a clean nice dining experience. I would like to see a sampler bundle of like 2 different style pizzas

I have driven by this place a lot. I have been on a pizza kick, and I decided to get a pizza to go. I ordered the Dumbo in NY style with chicken added. It was so freaking good and crisp. It was made fresh! It is definitely going to become one of my favorites.

So glad we stumbled upon this place!!! Great pizza and amazing staff! I miss New York pizza (Buffalo) and this place is as close as it gets!!!! Great crust and small pepperoni! Oh so good!

I love deep dish pizza and this is super close to Chicago deep dish! It was beautiful and delicious. So filling and excellent for breakfast the next day. I just wish it didn’t close at 10pm.

Absolutely, the best pizza in town with great people running the business. We love it and I highly recommend it.
Ronda Davis
Absolutely the best pizza ever! Since it was our first visit the owner came over to assistant with our order. He explained how they "use the same time-honored traditions and techniques that have been used in Naples, Italy for over 300 years, these lightly topped pizzas cook in 90 seconds at 900 degrees in a custom made Italian brick oven". #SoWorthThePrice#

Family friendly and authentic! What a great place. Very supportive of the Montrose community, which I appreciate more than words.

The service is outstanding and with all of the ingredients being freshly made and imported from Italy really makes the their pizza's stand out. The ovens cook at over 900°f which cooks the pizza in about 5mins or so which is awesome! Lastly I really like the decor and is a great place to go with a large group!

Having been born in Naples, Italy I knew when I walked in and smelled it that it was going to be phenomenal. The memories of when I was a young boy came flooding in. You will not find a more great tasting and genuine Napoletana pizza anywhere!!!

Delightful! Ingredients fresh, crust perfect. Paired with wine, extremely delish!

Pizaro’s is a family-owned restaurant that began in the Memorial area and has now expanded to Montrose. They make fresh dough in-house and bake their pizza pies in a brick oven. It’s BYOB so be sure to...
Suz Nieroda
My favorite pizza place in Houston. Given that I'm from NJ, I have always been very picky about pizza and this place nails it. The ingredients are shipped from Italy. I recommend the meatball ricotta pizza.
BigKidSmallCity
Once again, we have found a great pizza restaurant in Houston, inside the Loop. It is really becoming hard to decide which one is the best!. Pizaro’s Pizza is a new restaurant on Montrose and West Gray. It has a lot of parking in the back and as soon as you walk in, you are in a modern, industrial-chic dining room. The lightning is cool too and they mixed perfectly metal and wood together.

The food quality was good, price vs quantity is very poor. 2 people .... 1 pizza, 2 salads and 2 beverages $40.00. Not enough cheese on the pizza not the meats that were paid high dollar for.
Jay Francis
There is always a dilemma when writing about food from other countries. If a particular dish is prepared authentically, is it fair to criticize the restaurant if you did not like it? I don't think so. Authenticity trumps personal taste every time. And as we know, the Italians are very committed to specific ways and means for certain dishes. In Modena, for example, balsamic vinegar can only receive the appellation "traditional" if it is made to specific criteria. Ditto the Neapolitan pizza. There are specific rules that must be followed to earn the title of an authentic Naples style pizza. So to write about Pizaro's, and knowing that the owner went to Naples to study pizza making, and is committed to using authentic Italian flours, ovens, etc. one must first critique the pizza on how successfully it duplicates the ones in Naples.

The oven temperature here is 900 F. So the pizza is cooked in about 90 seconds. The ovens are from Italy. They are wood fired. Ditto the flour (also Italian). A Neopolitan pizza should have a slightly crunchy edge and a soft, chewy center. It is a flatter pizza but with raised edges. Which it does. In terms of authenticity Pizaro's gets top points.

So here is the caveat emptor. The bottom of the pizza will be charred with dark burn marks. If you do not like the taste of pizza with some charred underside, that is, a burned flour taste, you may not like this pizza. Authenticity yes. But just as some people like their food less salty than others, it will be up to you and your taste buds to decide if you like this pizza.

On the fence. The toppings were tasty, but the crust was a tad underdone. Too "doughy". As in not cooked through; which means that the toppings were not pipping hot - almost cool. Will try again.
