Great service and very good food for a sports bar! Service was very friendly and helpful and prices also very reasonable. Everything you expect from a really good sports bar! Definitely recommend as a chill hang-out.
Well, I ordered uber eats from here, and omg, the loaded fries with carnitas and habanero jack cheese, was a lil close to room temperature, but that's the drivers fault. But those fries were THE MOST AMAZING loaded fries that I've ever had!!!
I also got some hot buffalo bone-in wings too. They give you plenty of ranch. And the kicker is, the wings are big, and meaty, and it's a cheaper price than those other wings places. Every thing was on point. 💯💯💯
There were regulars that greeted by name. Always a good sign. Fried pickles were so good. Not really table service but a super small bar so.
The Best Philly cheesesteaks in Texas!
It used to be named Jake's Philly Steaks and it was owned by Jake who was from Philly. Guess you can't get too much more authentic than that. Biggest difference is he uses provolone cheese here instead of the yellow liquid cheese like in Philly. I suppose it's just a matter of regional and taste preference. The French fries are made fresh and the drinks are always cold.
I did not get a chance to make it over there very often but today was one of those days I was able to go. Took my wife, youngest child and met two friends for lunch. I never missed the opportunity to eat whenever I'm on that side of town! And considering I've been going there for over 35 years, I think I can vouch for them.
If you're ever in Houston Texas look for Jake's Sports Bar on Chimney Rock and you'll not regret it!
Fast, friendly service and a good lunch crowd. I opted to try their Original Philly Cheese steak (sliced rib eye beef, grilled onions and Provolone cheese). It was good and filling! I'd go back to try another sub type sandwich again... or perhaps the fried catfish platter?
Fantastic food and friendly service. Only gripes are: side room can only show 2 different channels/events at a time. Not good if u r a sports nut. Jukebox volume or speakers dont function very well. Why take people's money if you can't hear your own song. Other than that, great place to eat and watch some sports.
Fried jalapeños and mushrooms are must haves. Food and drinks are well priced. All the food I've had so far has been good, and staff is very kind.
The buffalo wings were delicious and IPA on point. I didn't give 5 stars to the service and atmosphere only because I know a lot of people that would expect better.
Food is delicious here! Service is also great. I got the buffalo chicken sandwich with the sauce on the side because I love how the chicken tastes without the sauce. My kids love the chicken tenders and my husband the Philly cheese steak. I reccomend this place the food is delicious and service is friendly.
When you live in a large metropolitan area like Houston, you are inundated with places for food and drink. I frequent these eateries and taverns at least a few times every week and while I prefer variety, there are some establishments that are consistently pleasing to warrant multiple return visits and one of them is Jakes Sports Bar.
Jakes is located in Houston’s Galleria area and it features a large size interior with plentiful seating along with a small outdoor patio. There are lots of televisions for sports viewing and several video games for your own personal entertainment. If you prefer to sit at the bar, there are about 10 available seats, so you may need to wait if that is your preference.
With food, Jakes Sports Bar serves typical bar fare, but the specialty here is the cheesesteaks. And they have several from which to choose- much more than the limited options at other restaurants and sports bars. Look at the menu and you will almost certainly be able to find a cheesesteak with toppings to your liking. They serve other tasty bar food too, but I find myself always going back to the cheesesteak part of the menu.
Drinks are plentiful at Jakes Sports Bar. They have a full service bar for your drinking pleasure and about 20 taps of beer, plus bottles and cans. I like that they keep the taps rotating because it means I can find new products to try each time I visit. And I like the emphasize on local beer! Houston has a good number of breweries and many tasty suds so it is nice to see so many different Houston beers on tap, some of which you will not be able to easily find elsewhere.
Sports bars are my favorite type of bar and I also prefer places that are casual and unassuming. Jakes Sports bar fits this description well and it will continue to be my go- to place for sports, food, and brew in the Houston Galleria area.
This was a great little dive!! Wonderful service and the food was great! They really go far and beyond to make you happy! Love the employees so nice!!
Jake's is a great place to go. We always have a great time. All the bartenders and staff are fantastic.
I Love this place! Great local spot with a surprising variety of food options from wings to tacos to healthy salad options. I highly recommend giving it a try!
Went looking for some good food and Yeungling and got both plus MNF food on what seemed to be 100 TVs! Was 1 of maybe 3 other women in the whole place and felt very safe. Would definitely return!! Fried pickles on point!!!
Ryan was an awesome bartender he treated us so well and gave an great atmosphere 10/10 would come again ❤️
My 1st time here. Great service and a great Philly Cheese steak sandwich. But they ran out of the juice...
I don't work in the neighborhood anymore, but Jake's is a place on my must stop when I'm in the area. Great philly steaks with the wizz. Now more of a sports bar than back in the day. It is still great even if the menu has grown a bit, so everyone can find something. I'm still here for the Philly cheesesteak.
